Failing At Linux Gaming And Getting Angry
Переглядів 1,2 тис.10 місяців тому
My journey of failing at Linux gaming, when all I was trying to do was get better performance in a game. I was just trying to get a game to stay locked at 120FPS and had multiple failed Linux OS installations. I tried Nobora, Fedora, and Pop OS. I reverted back to Linux Mint and that almost didn't work. Seems like the best way to play this game it by hooking it up to my Plasma TV.
Nobara Linux Daily Driving For 30 Days
Переглядів 4,9 тис.Рік тому
I share my experience daily driving this Linux OS on my PC that I only use for music, editing videos, and the Internet. It's really good for gaming but I think I like Pop OS better. I will be keeping it on my gaming PC though.
Nobara Linux The Ultimate Gaming Distro
Переглядів 6 тис.Рік тому
Since I started using Nobara I noticed increased compatibility with games and I'm able to get higher frame rates. I noticed improvements over this OS even when compared to Windows 10. Everything is installed that you need to play games. It even supports VRR which blew me away. Really great for someone who doesn't know a lot about Linux.
Your Playstation 3 Plays Playstation 1 Games

It may be hard to believe but your Playstation 3 plays PS1 games. I actually had someone come up to me and was surprised to learn his PS3 played PS1 discs. Somehow in 2023 people are still figuring this out! Go out and buy a some PS1 games and start playing now! #shorts

How I Built My Video Game and DVD Video Shelves
Переглядів 283Рік тому
I go through a little tutorial about how I built my video game and DVD shelves. I love watching DVD's on my HD CRT TV so I needed to figure out a way I could fit them all in my man cave. I don't think there will be many more video games to fill that shelf but I will continue to collect DVD's.
Garuda Linux - Steam Running On A USB Stick?!
Переглядів 553Рік тому
I didn't know running Steam off of a USB stick was a thing. Apparently you can do it in Garuda Linux. I actually ended up installing it on the laptop hard drive after, as I want to try it out. I found this OS to be way faster than Linux Mint. Here is the website to download Garuda Linux. garudalinux.org/downloads.html
Failed Linux Endeavour OS - Newbie Laptop Install
Переглядів 836Рік тому
A video of me failing at trying to install Endeavour OS. I couldn't even get it into the boot loader, so it must not like this laptop. I tried two different versions of Endeavor OS and both gave me the same results. Maybe it was the program I used to install it to the USB stick, maybe it was laptop. I'm really not sure.

Linux Mint Newbie - Laptop Install
Переглядів 692Рік тому
I attempt to install Linux mint and see if I can get Steam running on it. The goal is to see how easy it is to get a game running on Linux if you don't know a lot about Linux. In the end I found Manjaro was a way faster process than Linux Mint. I also noticed Linux Mint really wanted me to update, but I'm sure you could turn that off. It's not a terrible experience, but I liked Manjaro or POP O...
Manjaro Linux Newbie - Laptop Install
Переглядів 1,4 тис.Рік тому
I really don't have a lot of experience with Linux. So in this video I try to install Manjaro on an old laptop and see if I can get a game running on it. I install Wine and after install Steam as that's probably what most people use. I may try installing Linux Mint on this laptop next to see if I can run a game on that.

Zelda Orcarina Of Time 60FPS PC Port - Almost The Best Screen For The Job
I’ve kinda got a thing for plasma TVs. I have 4 of them. All Panasonic 42 inch. Kinda a collection of them
Plasmas are great for consoles with component and HDMI also for watching movies in DVD or Bluray. I own a Sony 32 plasma it cost me only $10 and works/ looks great...drawbacks are high energy consumption, only 720p and heavy compared to LCDs
I have my Panasonic 46" Viera hooked up in my upstairs bedroom. Still enjoy watching Blu-rays on it. I think you can overcome motion blur to a point with the right settings, but plasmas just look more natural to me. It just sucks it uses so much power compared to the newer TVs.
Also the whining noise that CRT TV's make can be a turn off.
I use and got a 21 and 14" Sharp crt tvs they are awesome
I'm extremely sick of poor motion clarity, so I think I'm going to pull the trigger on one of these. They're so cheap and I can mount it over my main monitor! It'll be great for playing games and play-testing my own.
I purchased a plasma TV from a thrift store last week and it works great.
hey thanks for the share. My first plasma tv was the Panasonic th 42pw5 That model came out in 2002. I was the 3rd owner and it moved on to it 4th owner. Still have another Panasonic PLasma tv from 2018. One thing is certain if you have a small space. The room the tv is in will warm right up those babies got hot.
Meanwhile I have a 27" 144 Hz LCD and a 17" CRT whose highest comfortable resolution is 1280x960 at 72 Hz. I usually opt for lower at a minimum of 75 HZ for that incredible motion clarity. My favorite compromise is 1280x800 at 85 Hz. It's 16:10 but I don't always need 4:3.
I can do 240hz black frame on 2 on my oled 32" . Its amazing.
my grandparents have a Hitachi Ultravision 42HDT52 that they got new in 2005 and still use 20+ years later with the same stand and speakers from when they got it new! I love how it looks it has a great picture and holds up very well. I have a video of it on my channel for anyone to watch if you want.
Could you try bayonetta 3 I want to know if the dithering effects still look checkerboard or do they look transparent on CRT?
Hey man. Nice setup. What little CRT do you have on your desk there? Just subscribed.
Best way to enjoy a DVD today, a good 1080p DLP projector, a high end bluray player with top upscaling capabilities and DVD offer perfect image and sound quality, close to bluray.
Rad basement. Just found your channel. I love your content, what ive seen so far.
The reason you don't see the flicker on the HD CRT over the standard def ones is all to do with the refresh rate, the standard def one will be 60 hz will the HD crt will likley be running at around 100hz. 60hz on a pc CRT is very noticible and easliy changable in the display options of your computer as unlike the TV they don't have a fixed refresh rate, or one thats only varible between 50-60hz in the case of Pal. In my finding once the refresh rate is above 70hz it's unoticble.
Only Americans got a decent amount of HD CRT's, in Europe there super and almost none were made. On the other hand if you use a BVM that can do resolutions like 480p and 720p there don't do that colour bleed, or at lesat I have never noticed it, and that goes for CRT computer monitors that run up to 2k. I have never used a HD crt. The fact that you are using a consumer TV to read text and complining about it is not a valid argument, It's a TV, the dot pitch will be way to poor to read text, and please remmember JRPG's are made with logographic kanji, ideograms (or characters), in mind and not a western alphabet. Again you want a computer monitor for this as they are design for reading text, you all the PC crt's were built for that sole reason.
fedora is redhat linux i think
how to install black frame insertion on windows?
All games from 5th generation consoles plus Sega Dreamcast 6th - I play on Panasonic Quintrix TX-29PS12P CRT TV. I've read a lot that 16:9 games from PlayStation 2, GameCube, Wii or Xbox Classic are better played on HD CRT or plasma. I don't know what to think about it? Should I buy HD CRT Panasonic TX-32PS12P or plasma Panasonic Viera TX-P42X10E?
As a physical media die hard, dvds taking up space is a pro
Hey, i'm torn between Pop os and Linux mint lol. This is the hardest part about Linux! Choosing a distro is impossible xD
It literally says 2014. On the stick, while you are saying 2013, 2012 Lol Americans what to say
Some HD CRT's (Sony) could support a 720P signal. Other TV brands will vary and most of them will only supporty 480P and 1080i. Using a external scaler like a Portta HDMI to component could help get a 1080i picture since the Nintendo Switch does not output in 1080i. The PS4/5 does tho :D
No music in description..?
*CRT TVs don't display text well. The monitors do. Yeah, the monitors are superior, especially given that they let you display much higher resolutions.
Gaming on linux is so goood, oh my goood, i cant believe iiiiit oooooo maaaah gaaawd. Talks 8minutes of nonsense, then launches a 2D game. Don't get me wrong, I'm using linux, but I dont lie to people, gaming is not that good as it is on windows, obviously. Period. It never will be. I'm using endeavouros which is an archlinux based distro, and arch/arch based are known for their versatility and gaming capabilities. I'm on bleeding edge with kernel and nvidia prop driver. I'm tearing blood every fucking day, because how bad experience I'm having with my nvidia card with linux. Also, don't believe the urban legend out there, AMD's Radeon is just as garbage as nvidia on linux. It's just "better" at out of the box experience, but OC'ing is another story (fan rpm for example is a nightmare to set up properly, just to list the simplest thing here). So yea. Wayland + nvidia = flickers the shit out of you. X11 + nvidia: its more stable, but you don't get that smooth experience. Its no where near complete, no where near compatible. Yes - steam proton and lutris. NO! It's an utter garbage, you gotta tweak every single shit to make it possible to launch. You need a programmer centric brain, or else you're fucked. If you use games out of the box, you're not utilizing your GPU/CPU enough, and you wasted $$$ for no reason. Period. That is where linux is right now.
Flickering is a problem of newer Nvidia drivers, as far as I know 535 version of Nvidia drivers works fine on Wayland. Also I don't know what do you mean about "tweaking" because all popular games are compatible with linux. Some no name games or online that's the problem, but it's the company's fault, not Linux's.
One thing you forgot to mention about DVD versus streaming is that DVD sound better because the sound is uncompressed. As for Blu-ray a standard 1080 P Blu-ray will look and sound better than anything streamed. Even though streaming claims to display the image in 4K it’s not and sound is severely compressed while streaming. Also I’m on another sidenote about playing standard DVDs if you get a good 4K Blu-ray player with upscaling it’s going to do a lot for the image quality well watching on HD TV.
I know this video is old, but sadly my hdcrt died, there is any other hdcrt where I live but I've seen some plasmas on fb market place. Which one you think it's a good candidate? Options are: Panasonic mostly 720p and like 2 of them 1080p, also there are samsungs. Please your advice
A lot of people HATE scanlines...and not all of them are kids...my mom hates scanlines and calls them "snow"
I strangely find CRTs easier on my eyes than HD...like large white areas like snow hurt my eyes because of how bright it is, on a CRT is doesn't hurt my eyes at all.
I think the whole weight thing is dumb unless you move a lot.
I think video up-scaling devices are also useful to have if you wanna play them on modern TVs have them look okay. Even just an older flat screen that isn't 4k will most likely look decent.
Hey, did you ever figure out how to display switch on a 480p widescreen crt? Picking up a Panasonic tau this weekend. A ps5 outputs 1080i so I guess I could do all my indie/ pixel art games on there from now on. Was really hopeful for the switch to work though. Mainly bought for the Wii/ps3/360 era stuff so will still have plenty to keep me busy
I only use a CRT because I wanna play Duck Hunt. The only downside about CRTs is that I get a faint tickling in my ear.
The downside is you are younger than 40. Above the tickling goes away.
5 months damn
if you didn't know Plasma TVs had the worst burn in after a few years.
My plasma is from 2011 G10 Pana model, have 27000h, what is burn in
I have a panasonic viera since new, it was super expensive back in the day, i purchased it knowing nothing of flat tv's, i just wanted the best image quality, there was more expensive samsungs but lookes like shit, i was between philips and panasonic, and because the panasonic has a hard front shock proof was the winner, i used my psp3 more to watch blurays than gaming and since day one, the image quality was awesome, paired with a yamaha home theater and big jbl's it was superior than going to the cinemas of that time, i still have it but i use a more "modern" led samsung that just sucks but its only 30w vs 600w consumption
I'm sorry but my opinion is that Samsung makes overpriced displays. They're not bad, but you're paying more for the name compared with stuff like TCL. Sony and LG are really kind of the hill when it comes to OLEDs. Panasonic made good electronics back in the day but they pulled out of the US market for TVs sadly. All the best stuff used to be made in Japan but seems they're going the same way as the US and offshoring everything.
POP OS performs remarkably better than windows while playing Call of Duty WWII. I played the entire game. It doesn't glitch and looks better too. Check out the raw footage. What you see is what you get to play. Part 1. ua-cam.com/video/o_siOUzb98Q/v-deo.html Part 2. ua-cam.com/video/WCVy-66ZzWI/v-deo.html Part 3 ua-cam.com/video/M4wt8TRqzuQ/v-deo.html Part 4 ua-cam.com/video/Ei6vUYgmQio/v-deo.html
Linux won’t take windows over fast it’s going to be a slow burn but it’s happening thankfully.
How scanlines look on this type of CRT?
Older people still use Craigslist and give stuff away on there also , I just got a free Panasonic plasma from there
I also use Facebook marketplace and Craigslist a lot and flea markets
Does bfi benefit games running at 30 fps?
CRTS SUCK! END OF! I like to admire computer graphics in their purest form, not have to deal with the horrible fuzz of phosphor dots, scan lines and excess glow! Imagine playing Doom Eternal on a CRT like this, it just would not work!
Come on, the fuzz and glow is better.
Pirating to hard drives on a media server is the best of both worlds. I have over 6,500 movies and over 1,600 TV series on my media server. I don't need to devote a room to my collection, deal with dusting, organizing, inventorying have the risk of damage from flood, fire, etc. or god forbid if I move, having to move my collection. I don't have to deal with buffering, throttling, content being removed or altered to appease some offended person. If I am sitting comfy in my bed, I can switch between any movie, TV series, music, any games on emulators, UA-cam, etc. without getting out of my bed. I backup my entire media server onto 10 5TB 2.5" portable drives that literally fit in the palm of my hands. I started out with DVD rips, then as time permitted, starting with my favs, downloaded and replaced with 1080p. Now I am once again, starting with my favs, replacing my 1080p copies with 4K. There is no downside, at least from where I am sitting, with this method.
My old teac will not switch on in wet weather that has continued for 5 to 7 days of constant rain mine is analogue old teac takes 1 hour then I have a great picture and sound but up til then I have a heart attack thinking it has blown up
Best to keep your DVDs in custom drawers. Built some pretty awesome draws that can hold your whole shelve not a problem even have castor wheels to move em around
It's crazy how hd looks on standard def. Wild
Correction: it's not standard definition, it's extended def - TV shows full frame in 480p. SD TV's shows only 480i - interlaced or 240p in game mode with 8/16 and 32 bit consoles.
Hey if your getting them for free you can’t complain
Yeah, I got my CRT for just $5.
