  • I attempt to install Linux mint and see if I can get Steam running on it. The goal is to see how easy it is to get a game running on Linux if you don't know a lot about Linux. In the end I found Manjaro was a way faster process than Linux Mint. I also noticed Linux Mint really wanted me to update, but I'm sure you could turn that off. It's not a terrible experience, but I liked Manjaro or POP OS far better.

You got me when you said "b" key is depressed.
    Love your content.
I have been linux user for 9 years not because it's easy but because it has freedom.
I am happy that more and more people realize the value in it.
Installer might be slow because of pendrive too and/or searching and refreshing package repo while it installs
Is it also really slow after install? I don't think it should be.
    Also i like cats

The thing with the update popup is whenever any Debian or fedora based distro is installed its a good practice to do an update because on the first update it don't just update packages but also install several necessary packages including drivers which may not have been installed during the distro installation. Also unlike Arch or based distro ( manjaro) Debian and fedora don't come with rolling releases and dont have latest packages (for stability) and their iso that you burned on the USB may not have updated packages which. That's why its better to do the first update and then do a reboot.
I dont use mint but from what I remember it asks to do the first update and after that it gives notification for updates likes you said about pop os

The thing with the settings being remembered is due to Steam Cloud saves. It can be turned off.

Brother you will love the terminal once you start working with it. Fear not and fulfill your full conversion to the freedom os 😆!! That was quit a mouthful.
I have been using Linux and the terminal for a year now mainly for programming and learning the details and still get stuck from time to time. It's fun cause by breaking everything and rebuilding the system comes a considerable amount of satisfaction and knowledge

It’s not trying to force an update. It just wants you to go through the initial setup, where you select the update mirrors and stuff.
It keeps popping up because you clicked the X instead of OK.

I literally just tried to install mint on my craptop and it did not like it, don't know why cuz I was able to install Gentoo, and void.
I use bauh on EndeavorOS, open the terminal and type (yay -S bauh)
Then you'll have a gui package manager.

You wanna give Garuda Os Linux a try?
a lot of the gaming stuff is preinstalled (specifically in the dragonized gaming edition it's not in any other version)
But the catch is I wanna see if you can manage to play the games Right off the usb without installing the os
I wanna see the limits of this laptop
