I mainly build modern German Bundeswehr 1/35 scale models recreating a large mixed fighting force of armor, mechanised infantry, artillery, engineering, medical and supplies. I am also starting to build post World War 2 German military equipment to include East and West Germany.
I'm not affiliated with any business or company. I have been building models since the early 70's. I do this channel to show my work and learn from others. I do it for enjoyment. I welcome all ideas and input.

A quick way to add cables on your Smoke discharge covers for models
1500 is a great primer, just fair warning though stuff is pretty toxic. So i would advise a spray booth when working with it.
Yes. I have great ventilation fan to remove fumes.
Не масштабный камуфляж...
See the asymmetrical aspect of this turret bothers me far less than the Abrams
The add on armor changes the look
@ I can kinda see the difference in the add on armor and it’s angle shaping definitely hides it better thank the shape of the Abrams turret cheeks
@Bruticus1990 yes. The 4 had that flat surface. The abrabs atleast has a angle. The add on armor breaks the sabot in ap rounds.
@ I still think the US should’ve chosen the 2AV over the XM1 but I get why we didn’t. I love the Abrams but after playing Warthunder over the past year I’ve fallen in love with the Leopard
Great job! I love this tank, I'll probably do an RC conversion of this 1:35 model next year. This video is very useful as a reference because I'm finishing the same model and camouflage in 1:87 scale. Thanks!
Thank you!! RC conversions are a creative challenge.
Nice job! 👍
Thank you
Great build, awesome review! It looks like the real thing! What grey did you use?
I used a light blue but it did do some blending to match it. It was mr hobby lacquer. I dont have the exact formula. The modfl had a wrong shade listed and thank you.
I FINALLY saw this video / review!! Too busy, but off work now for X-mas break!!! Look forward in your 'Tamiya' build!! Who's That?!! Why, Hello 'Cleo' !! 🐱🐈
Thank you for watching and ya.. my new assistant... I think.. 🤣
@@Ricks135scalemodels Oh, My........ I would LOVE to assist on your builds..... but I'm TOO Slow in building my tanks, ( maybe it was the subject that I was building ). But, Good NEWS... Leopard 2 AVLB is Nearing Completion with the last of the weathering being applied => 99% completed!! Video coming soon!
@Hey_MikeZeroEcho22P well.. we could do one.. I'm up for a project
I found that there are not enough reactive tiles to do both sides. Also the resin gun shroud was missing.
After seeing resent pictures of how manybtile they added, that doesn't surprise me. Missing parts does. I have got several Border kits and not had anything missing. Hopefully either the seller or Border will correct.
Nice review Rick Looks good mate interesting kit . Have a nice weekend and bench time buddy
Thank you Ozzy
Great review... At 18:21 the two big rounded grills are for the air intake for the cooling system. The cooling air exhaust is the one your pointing at 11:02 the long horizontal grill over the tail lights... ;)
You are correct and I new that and I don't know why I said that!!
But watch out for the tow cables I had one break and I had to fix it
They look fragile!!
@ yea I went to assemble and one was broken in half in the box but tamiya sent me a new one
Curious......... why not use Actual copper wire lines? Serious question.
I built this and these tracks are easy to put together
Good to hear.. I would expect that tamiya are solid builds usually.
@ I had no issues with it other then the tow cables and the engine PE sheets but I’m bad at PE so it’s a skill issue
@Velcroshoeguy those screens are tricky.. you get one try and hope to not plug the grill.. I've learned to used the thick ca and painting lightly with a q-tip
@ the turret ones went on great but the flat ones I had spots sticking up
Nice unboxing Rick looks a very nice kit will look forward to you build
Thank you greg.. it's nice snd I'm looking forward the yhe exposed crew.
Nice unboxing, I just picked up an earlier 2a6 since I need the rubber band tracks to motorize and not these hard molded plastic tracks.🙂
It's a nice kit. Thd older Tamiya 2a6 was ok. Can easily be retro fitted to be motorized. Neat project!
If I knew how hard these tracks were going to be, I would have built this kit AFTER the Amusing K51 Panther or 2A8 kit. That's because I could use the jig provided for the tracks in those kits on this Tamiya kit. I would advise you to do that to make it easier to assemble these tracks. As I mentioned before, the hinge pins on this kit are very breakable. So go easy.
Yes, i will for sure!!. If it gets bad, i have enough extra from my border Leo's to do the tracks. I appreciate the heads up!!
@@Ricks135scalemodels You might not have any problems at all. That's because the problem with the tracks might be the nut (me) behind the wheel. I just watched your A7+ video again and we talked about me having the same problem 2 YEARS ago! I think part of my problem is that I always use old fashioned regular short, straight tweezers. Their grip is not good. So I just ordered those long, curved Tamiya tweezers. Maybe that will help. And I am really backsliding on my idea of NOT making any more models. When I was at the Hobby Town store, I bought the Tamiya Sheridan. That thing has got like 360 pieces! Sorry, but the urge got me. Hey, I spend $60 on gas a week and it's gone a week later. (that's my excuse anyway).
@spiritualarchitect4276 never give up never surrender!!.. model on my friend.
Great review Rick. Looking forward to seeing the finished results
Thank you. I'm eager to start.
hello I was wondering if you could help me find a after market kit for my merkava tank I need a tropy system for my LIC model :)
I have seen something. I just cannt remember where but I'll do some searching. I believe it wasva resin one that you would have to print. Do you have the?
@@Ricks135scalemodels no I do not maybe I could buy the meng namer and put it on the merkava would that work?
@Godlovesya-j4o it would involve major rebuild. What country are you in?
@@Ricks135scalemodels I live in the U.S what rebuild do you mean ?
Buying the meng for the trophy.. its molded into the turret.. I'll see if I can find the printable one and I can print and send.
Hey Rick! I recently got the 1/35 REVELL Leopard 2A6/A6NL kit. I haven't been able to find a review from you on this particularly kit, but I'm curious if you've done it yet or know somebody who has that could tell me any hiccups it may have? I'd like to do it up as a Ukrainian Leopard but I'm not 100% set on that idea as I'll be doing a Ukrainian T64 BV MOD 1985 for a Ukraine diorama in the future. Hope you have a great day, keep on modeling buddy!
Hi.. I have not done this kit but I heard it was good to build. I had bad experience with older Revell Leo's. I have been considering the 2a6m but it's the same price as the other kits I know to be great. I'll probably need to do it. I know the ICM 2a6 ukrainian actualy a Revell kit. It's got hi reviews. I am getting ready to do a ukrainian 2a6 diorama. A friend was over in ukrainian and brought back soil from one of the war zones. Just a touch of real world.
It's great, not to mention timely, to hear your initial positive response to this kit as a niece of mine has just returned from a business trip to Tokyo and has brought me back this exact kit, at a fraction of the cost here (UK). I really like the inclusion of the basket PE press tools introduced by Tamiya - perhaps it'll catch on with other manufacturers. I'll hold off building my kit until you've been able to do yours, and provide us eager followers with your thoughts and comments. Thanks for doing these videos
I need a family member like that!! Meng has had some gigs but not to this quality. It's a step up for taniya for sure. I'm going to be doing a video in the next few days comparing the Border, RFM and Tamiya 2a7v kits then start the Tamiya.
@Ricks135scalemodels She only goes over each November, which gives me plenty of time to plan ahead. If we can work out the practicality of logistics of getting items from the UK to you in the US, I'm sure I could ask her to pick up something relatively small(ish). In the meantime, I'll wait for the notification of the availability of the build video..
@Brother_Desultor nice!! Ya.. the import is the issue here. It's so expensive to ship from Europe
@5:40 Same tracks here as the Amusing Panther model. Almost looks like there might be a small SQUARE/RECTANGULAR piece under the tracks here where it says "F1" and "F3". Is that a JIG?
That sounds right right. The gig is part 4.. on the tracks sprue
@@Ricks135scalemodels To be clear, I have the Amusing Panther and 2A8 kits at home, but I cannot get to them until Christmas day. I got 4 tanks (including the Leopard Revolution II) and chose to build the Tamiya now, while the others go under the Christmas tree. IF I had known, I would have chosen an Amusing kit to build first, so I could use the track jig in them on the Tamiya tracks. Oh well.
So I am building the latest Tamiya Leopard, the 2A7V. Tamiya has always been my favorite model kit maker. But THAT model is the WORST. And that is because of the tracks. It took me hours upon hours to make those tracks. The hinge pins break too easily, and the tracks do NOT always snap together, nor do they stay connected. No jig provided. No fun at all. I am spoiled by those Tamiya rubber band vinyl tracks that go on in seconds. But not those crap tracks. VERY aggravating. I have been buying Tamiya kits since 1978, but I am thinking that if Tamiya continues to use that track style, I may never buy another Tamiya kit again. Then I noticed that 2 kits that I have at home waiting, the A8 and THIS Panther (apparently the name "Cheetah" was not good enough) BOTH have very similar tracks. Oh what fun. So I clicked on your vid here to see how you built the tracks. These may be better because the hinge pins are double and more sturdy and less likely to break. Is there is a jig supplied in the Panther kit? Because there appears to be small squares on the track sprues. Did you build these tracks using a jig?
Wow.. I have concerns on those tracks from tamiya also. The 2a7v kit is sitting on the shelves awaiting its turn. I personally like the leo tracks that you assemble like in the border and rfm. The Amusing hobby had those same tracks. You can buy the RFM tracks also. I was using the tool gig but most of the time, I dont.
@@Ricks135scalemodels Speak of the Devil, and now you have a 2a7v review video!
'Rick', nice tutorial........ question a Very Different method and just curious of what you think of it..... Have you tried a burnishing liquid, the kind that you "darken/weather" metal tracks??? Just asking.
I have and it works good. Like all model builders, I'm a creature of habit.
@@Ricks135scalemodels GRRRREEAT!!! I have also tried it on my current Leopard 2 AVLB.....using copper cables, I wasn't too sure if it has been done or recommended. But glad you have tried it....... so If a Pro like you has, then it Must be good.!! Thanks for All Your help in my Leo2!!
@Hey_MikeZeroEcho22P well.. I would not call myself a pro.. but thank you!!.. we are just enthusiastic modelers who are brave enough to post our work for criticism!!
Hi, great work, you've made a wonderful model. My deepest condolences for your dog. Best regards from Saxonia!
Thank you and thank you!!
Hello, I drove the tank with the registration number Y-794-924 during my time in the 160th Panzer Pioneer Company in the late 1980s. The model is really great. It brings back old memories. Great work. I'm impressed. Greetings from northern Germany.
Wow!!! Did I get it right?
Outstanding build once again Rick.👍
Thank ypu!!
Great looking build, like the mobile bridge👍
Thank you. I also did the larger one. That video is coming out soon
Nice finish on this build Rick. A great vid and very informative. Take care my friend and speak soon
Thank you!!
Позорище, повесил шеврон нацистского батальона азов на стенку, эти люди мучают, убивают, казнят мирных жителей, тьфу бля.
GREAT Explanation of weathering CHALKS!! I have some of those chalks, but never used them for what you mentioned in the video.... of them "dilute some of the colors". Thanks for THAT piece of info.🤔 I'm going to try to look at your progress thru your 'FB' site...just kinda curious on how your built this....since I Also, have This tank as well as the Leo2 AVLB. Sorry to hear about 'Apollo'....I would see him in Every video, since I 'Sub' your channel. I miss my 'Blu' beagle, Our Family dog...you'll see her in Every video as a watermark in da corner. And Yes, We WILL see our dogs/pets in 'Vahalla'!!
Thank you and so true! They make our life more full for sure.
Stunning model Rick. Very well done. Great tips and demo as usual. Sorry to hear about Apollo
Thank you do much and thank you for your kind words.
Hi Rick, that was a exceptional build and your paint finish was also exceptional, congratulations on a job very well done, best regards from Australia, Les
Thank you so much. It was fun!
Great video Rick, with some very handy and useful tips on both painting and weathering. With regards to the diesel spills, your process provides an interesting alternative to the ready made products provided by Ammo and Vallejo etc. Excellent work all round, as per usual...
Thank you!!
Awesome build as always 👌
Thank you
Great build review Rick. Good luck with the wet stuff my friend
Thank you
Another excellent build Rick thank you for bringing it to us 👌👌👌
Thanknyou Greg. That means a lot coming from you.
Thank you and your very welcome Rick
hello, could you please tell me in the comments all the materials I need and what I need to do with them
I use a #26 guitar strings whish is .33mm. The wire is used was about .3mm.
This is your first American tank, right?? 😊
I have done very few. I tend to stick to West German and post unification German.
Hi Rick nice to see you back in action buddy :) Nice build and paint video , the paint job looks awesome. Keep up the good work . Have a nice weekend and bench time my friend
Thank you, Ozzy. It was a fun project.
Thx for showing. A very nice model
Thank you
That IS a nice build..... no PE, no little itty-bitty parts, but..... were there poly-caps for the wheels? I didn't see any, nor on the barrel mounting to give it Some stiffness?
Nopw.. Just plastic on plastic.
Hi Rick, that was a great build, I thought it was goingbto be a camo scheme, but no, do you think this tank will ever become operational? Bedt regards from Australia, Les
I really don't know. I hear yes and I hear no.. I know to US is adding the Trophy but no idea. I hope they do though.
Excellent build and review Rick. Many thanks
Thank you
I just bought this kit, and I heeded your suggestion about buying it from a hobby store. Actually, I ordered it from Amazon, but it came from Andy’s Hobby Store, the UA-camr in Arizona. It was shipped in a cardboard box and Andy put wrapping paper around the actual model box to keep it looking nice. I noticed that the model box cover was not taped closed. When I opened it, I found the part you specified was inside a plastic box, like what dice would come in. So MAYBE Andy knew about your problem and opened the kit and placed the part in the plastic to protect it.
Glad it's ok. Yes, amusing has upgraded there packing to correct there error. I order from Andy's all the time. He's a great shipper. Makes you feel special plus great customer service when you have an issue. I didn't know he was selling threw amazon.
hi what is the width of the trailer in mm thanks
Sorry for the delay. The trailor is 90 mm wide.
Excellent
Thank you
all my 3d printed resin parts were in tiny little plastic boxes
I'm glad the fixed that error. That's how they usually ship these.
Дякую! Ваші відео дуже надихають!
I'm glad you like them!!
Thanks for a straightforward and helpful video 👍
Thank you
