  • @PrimroseCraigdarroch
    @PrimroseCraigdarroch Місяць тому +184

    There’s a few things Rainn can glean from this interview. I think we’ve all picked up on moments where Trisha, very politely, declined a pointed question, or handled a comment/judgement about her with a lot of grace while still standing up for herself. It’s important to note, especially for someone who has a poddy that centres around spirituality and mental health, that not all topics are on the table. Just because someone has shared a lot of themselves in the past, doesn’t mean you’re entitled to all of them now. Usually there will be an agenda set before filming and agreed upon points of discussion, things both parties have consented to. Sometimes it’s more spontaneous than that. Either way, she was visibly uncomfortable with some of the questions and subsequent remarks Rainn made- it’s hard to imagine that if we can see it on camera, that he wouldn’t have picked up on it IRL- and when handling something as personal as that, online presence or not, you have to remain gentle and aware of boundaries. It felt a bit pushy and at points arrogant/obtuse. It’s uncool to mock Trisha’s former self, so certain she would too, who she obviously has grappled with and done a lot of work to learn from but not condemn- there’s certainly room for humour, but I feel like you let the subject lead with that one, how much are they willing to poke fun at.

Trisha has stated on her pod that she was extremely nervous in this interview, which may partially be why she didn’t engage as deeply on anything as she typically does. I have no doubt that being left alone frequently when she and Kali were children was a big factor. Her parents split when she was young, and both parents had to work to maintain their respective lives, her mom especially. Trish has said more than once that she was pretty much raised by the TV. Everything from seeing that women on TV were the ones that got love and attention to not having anyone around to teach her about nutritious food and only having takeout or very simple meals available jive with how arrested developmentally she had been for so many years. She only started cooking and eating a variety of foods after Moses showed her love and support and *consistency* . Thinking about the possibility that adult Trisha didn't really "love" plain buttered noodles but maybe it was something little Trisha *had* to eat frequently is actually pretty depressing.

    10:51 …. It’s not “now I’m going to have the psychotic break.”
    If someone said, “I had a psychotic break and I went to my place of work and screamed at coworkers.” You wouldn’t say, Well why did you go to your job then decide to have a psychotic break? They didn’t decide to break down at their job, that was just what happened during.
    Going online was a natural part of everyday life for Trisha, it is her work. It was her source of connection, her family, her diary etc. She didn’t set up fancy lights but even if she did, who cares. You’re not in your right mind in a break down, she could have been convinced filming herself was the best idea. That’s not how break downs work. It’s like a manic episode, Gabby Hannah didn’t decide to have a manic episode online. She had a manic episode and did what she does all the time. Filmed herself and put it online.

She turned on her camera and recorded herself talking, something she's done MANY MANY MANY countless times throughout practically her entire adult life. MANY years of her life, she has talked to a camera nearly every single fkn day. It's not something she had to stop and think about, for her it was just a natural part of her daily life. To the point where, when she was feeling that intensely emotional, turning on the camera to share her thoughts and feelings was the most natural knee-jerk reaction for her.

      I hate that in 2024 people still don’t understand mental health. You don’t understand what the f*** you’re doing until you work on yourself. I’m not saying what she did was right, but she will be the first one to say she is sorry & has made mistakes. On almost every single podcast I’ve watched of hers she says how wrong it was of her & how she was not thinking straight. I am not up her a** I’ve stopped watching her many times, and still don’t watch every single one of her videos. It’s just learning how to watch people grow. Wtf is she supposed to do? What is the exact right way to apologize & act to make YOU happy? She has apologized to every group, and said she doesn’t expect forgiveness, and for people to never forget it. Don’t watch her things if you’re upset at her. I can’t imagine being like “you know what I hate this person let me listen to them tell their personal story for an hour” lol you bored?

      I personally like Trisha on her healing journey and watches her podcasts, also Rainn Wilson on the office. I do get where u r coming from, We’ve watch Trisha for years and we are also millennials and gen z, so we understand her behaviours better and it’s quite normal to us, so his questions like “ why cry on phone “etc is quite genuine and fair imo. He didn’t make her sound stupid or crazy like other male interviews she had with. (For example in comparison ,when she is with Ethan , I like H3, but sometimes it do sounded icky from Ethan’s questioning.)

( which by the way is the event she didn't want to discuss because her husband is the brother of her cohosts wife) it was wildly popular ( my daughter who at the time was in her mid 20's got me to watch it ) I have since looked back on a lot of Trisha's videos and life and found myself also intrigued with her journey. I had a lot of sympathy for her and her journey and struggles. She has grown and changed so dramatically. She really is adorable and is an amazing mother. Her husband seems to be an amazing man and support for her. She may not think so but she is really talented and her new podcast is also wildly popular( she mentioned do this on her show tonight and that's how I found it) and am now a new subscriber! The fact that she wouldn't talk at all about frenemies except to take responsibility and blame only herself ( which isn't necessarily the truth) you should know is a positive thing, not wanted to open that door and cause any family drama for her husband and in-laws. I just love her bubbly personality and she's actually very funny.

    Rainn Wilson saying "3 years without a gigantic online breakdown, congratulations. Feel free to have one here" and pushing her to talk about things she clearly set up boundaries to not talk about multiple times was so uncomfortable to watch. It felt like he had little to no idea who Trisha was and didn't do his research before she was on the show, especially when it came to Trisha filming her kitchen floor breakdowns. His tone felt like he was mocking her about it because he didn't have any understanding of her, her background or those videos. I couldn't get through this interview. Sorry Rainn, miss me with this one.
