Philippe Ducasse | Contact Staff Intermediate / Advanced Tutorial | The Matrix
In this tutorial, we will be learning an more difficult trick to bring new flow to your contact staff technique. To learn the matrix you need to know the neckwrap and the steve at a minimum, but the more tricks you know before attempting to learn this one, the easier it will be because you will have a greater affinity for the staff in general.

This move is also a lot more physical so it helps to work on your flexibility (especially lateral flexibility), and also keep your legs firmly grounded.
The video is structured by breaking down the various stages of the trick. make sure to practice each section separately before attempting to do the whole trick in sequence. If your stuck, have a look at the variations chapter at the end of this video!
Let me know if there are any other tutorials you would like to see! Have fun learning.

Beginner Contact Staff Tutorial : Fishtails | How to flow with the contact staff
Переглядів 14 тис.2 роки тому
In the forth episode of the beginner series basic flow with the contact staff, we are going to learn one of my favorite tricks: the fishtail. The fishtail is a great trick in itself, but it is also a fundamental trick in order to start learning transition between tricks and planes without grabbing the staff. The ability to control the staff without holding it is going to expand your possiblitie...

Thank you I thinking of putting this with my color guard skills as I have been doing this type of thing on my own since I ve started spinning
Also something I find interesting is that we have the neck wrap in guard but it’s called a neck roll
where do I buy a staff? Or do I need to make one
This video sucks for teaching. I'm a beginner and I don't know what I'm doing. This video is for people who aren't beginners and don't need anything shown to them. You showed the trick, didn't explain how to to the trick, and didn't slow down or show step by step.
What kind off bar is that
This was your first?!...wow, nice.!!
Wow, beautiful and amazing and nice surprises.!
That was wild.!
That is quite clearly taught w attention to details. Ty Please, what is the flower addition to the staff, that slows it? Ty Too, l have a 1⅙"x 50" light rattan, no tapering, no tape, no end caps. I like it, being wood, and I'm also new to staff, having been spinning bamboo cane for fun a bit. Are the tape and ends necessary, and what are they, please? Ty
Very helpfull 🎉
Thanks 😊
Thank you! Another great helpful video!
Philippe, you are awesome. Thanks so much for this exceptional tutorial. I have spun staff for years but never really tried to do any tricks. Recently I ended up at a gathering of 50 or so Fire Toy enthusiasts and it opened my eyes to what is possible with the contact staff. This greatly inspired me to learn more and your videos are the thing which makes that possible. Particularly The Steve which has already opened a whole new world or moves for me. Thanks so much 🙂🙂🙂
@@alexfaulkner735 glad to hear you found the tutorial useful! Keep it up
@@philocircus2242 Thank you very much once again for these videos. 2 Months of practice later I can do Steve's, half Steves, infinite Steves and half Steves, in both directions (thanks for the encouragement there). Also, not good form but fun none the less, going left to right, right to left and so on which is one of my Practice drills (x20). Next mission is the alterate version of the Steve and the Angel Roll from another of your videos. Thanks again, I am really grateful and appreciative of the videos, I would not have been able to achieve this without them and the benefit to me can not be over stated. Firestaff is doing for me what Meditation and Tai Chi seem to do for others and has become an essential part of my day.
Wow.. your flow & control is incredible
Hi... I have a few questions, how long is your staff and where is it from/bought. Thanks for some great videos
Veri good 👍
Thank you bhai 🙏🙏
For those asking if you NEED a purpose built staff, easy answer is no. Any straight and very well-balanced pole/staff will work, but weight is a very important factor. If the staff is unbalanced or too light you will have trouble keeping it in contact with your body
A broomstick might work?
Amazing...🥰
LOVED the "funky disco moves", thank you for this video!
भारीच
😳 Never in my life have I seen such skills! Spinning a staff with one foot!? Incredible!
Can’t wait to try all these cool tricks! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and talent!
Bonjour merci pour cette vidéo ça donne vraiment envie. Mais je suis novice qu'elle est le nom.du bâton ? Avez vous une boutique a nous conseiller ? Merci
That makes so much sense!
Thank you for your videos one of the most helpful hands down. You make it so easy to follow with the way you control the speed impressive sir.
What length would you recommend the staff be? I figure it would vary from person to person based on height and limb length. But is there a ratio to aim for?
Great...but the audio sucked
Thank you - very clear breakdown and explanation. I appreciate it.
Shoulder shuffles... Amazing guru(master).. from India
Wish you 1 million subscribers... What an amazing skill.
Do you need a specific or customised staff for these movements or any staff would do.
“Eventually comes the point where you start letting go” ✨
Nice Nice Nice
I'm trying to learn the tricks and I have a problem doing neck wraps; my hair gets hooked in the staff (even If I have my hair rolled up). Also my stick Is covered by silicone which makes it worse I think... What can I do to help with that?? Thank you so much!!
I wouldn't recommend using silicone grips, mostly for this reason. you should try bicycle or tennis grip!
So good!
Too quick, break it down please.
Awesome
Woooow what a master! This is amazing 👏
Wow!
Tu montres les figures sans étapes intermédiaires et sans décomposer les mouvements
amazing tutorial very calm and thorough i really appreciate your time!
AMAZING
Very helpful video series. Thank you! I am happy I now have a Halo. 😇
How do you do the foot thing. I want that
lol It's not a commodity it's just training....a lo
❤❤❤
Are you bald from doing this? I lost many hairs before I even finished this video
No im bald from the anxiety of video creation!
@@philocircus2242 🤣 well thank you for the content. It was very helpful
Hi Phillipe. Great to see your content! I'm so impressed by your talent and enthusiasm. What happened to the American accent I taught you and Bea when you were 5 in Chambourcy? Lol! Take care, Michele. 🌠
Michele! so funny to speak to you again here. The accent has been mutated into something a bit weird and unrecognizable. Alot of people think im from israel. I hope you are well!! Take care !!
You should do webcam lessons! I’d buy some
# one brilliant👍
You are an awesome teacher!!! I think I can actually learn this. Thanks for sharing your knowledge 😎👍🏻
Thanks alot! of course you can learn this it just takes a bit of time!
