Exploring desert creeks after rain in the Gyro
Had december rain in the driest part of the country so I went out looking for somewhere to swim. It's windy but that's not what's tossing me around, I am, because it feels good

Powerful Gyro with 160hp ej25 Subaru feels like a Rosco

This is the machine I learned to fly on and my instructor Kev flying it. I'm 90kgs and with the two of us behind the power curve at 25-30 knots I can pitch it up even higher, throttle on, and it still picks up air speed. It's a rocket. Kev test flying the old yellow gyro that he's selling. Yep it's my old one! It flies way better now. it's light and powerful and cruises at lower rpm. Kev believes in the k.i.s.s principle. Keep it simple stupid. don't need any electric trim, rotor brakes, giant tail or surplus electrics on a Rosco from the bush 🤠 #aviation #aircraft #flight #gyrocopter

Sweet
you see this and you say eeither, thats too scary, or where do i get one?
Parabéns, que video sensacional !!
Great landing I like the video. Subscribed
I like the bare bone gyros. Unfortunately, everything is commercialized and no one is selling any plans for a home built gyro. How did you go about your gyro?
I bought mine second hand. I would recommend getting a bensen plan and slightly modifying it to have suspension and perhaps a lower thrust line if needed (drop tail like the yellow gyro in my previous videos)
What beautiful flight and scenery. Stunning views. Good to see ya still uploading! In awe of the oldschool, madmaxy, minimalistic gyros. I wanted to grab a flight in a gyro this summer for my birthday, but all these "adventure flights" were closed cockpit ones only. Kinda beats the purpose for me, hah! Hopefully next year. Cheers lad, stay safe and have fun!
Agreed, less and less people are picking up these homemade machines. Mine cost $62 (aud) a year to register and is cheaper than a car. Car engine, cheap and simple maintenance. I have this and the other gyro with a pod and windscreen.. but this open one is the most fun!!!
@@omeobandit9928 Damn! That's pretty much pocket change, with a little bit of exaggeration. Honestly I do not know how the laws here would be about flying something homemade, but my little crafting and postapoc loving brain loves that self-built flight is possible, hah! Looking forward to more vids from ya. Take care lad!
Great vid. It reminded me of when I was working in Tenant Creek. I used to fly a powered hang glider & trike with a mate who had a gyro. Great fun & such pretty country from the air. I'm not flying at the moment, just get outback a few times each year on the the motorbikes. It's been unusually green south of the Kimberly to Alice. I rode the Simpson earlier this year, that was moist & green too. Great to get out there. Take care & happy flying.
Was his name max tate? (the auto electrician)
@omeobandit9928 yeh, max. He moved to Vic for a while, last time I caught up with him he was living outback of Darwin
@@Gusto0172 He's still flying, lives up in wagait beach, NT. Check my other videos, I've got a few with him. He's a good mate :)
@@omeobandit9928 Thanks for that. Yeh, that is where I caught up with him, at Wagait. Do say hi to him from Angus, next time you see him. By the way, where are you based? I am in Indonesia, Aus base is Cairns. Cheers.
@@Gusto0172 will do, my friend. cheers from coober pedy, SA!
That's truly gorgeous terrain you get to fly through. It's trees everywhere I'm at. Makes for less low-level fun.
@@chimpychimp4921 yes it's very safe flying country out here, many places to land if an engine fails 🤩🫡
@@omeobandit9928 Well, there's also the added bonus that you have room to take off if you have to land! My gyro can LAND in a little field or a generous clearing. But then I'm, y'know, stuck. Lol.
@@chimpychimp4921 Yes, i know the struggle 😅 but as long as you can walk away with 2 arms and 2 legs, thats why gyros rule!
@@omeobandit9928 Amen!
Looks like Australia.
It’s a long walk home in bare feet if you have an issue and have to land

These aircraft are amazing, they look like they should not work. Looks like you have a hard grip on the stick though. Heavy wind?
@@scotttaxdal5297 the wind was strong but smooth and steady, I just enjoy tossing the machine around as it feels relaxing. I agree with you, they don't look like an flying machine at all 😂
@omeobandit9928 Thanks for the ride!
Best motorcycle ever made
Yes! New vid!
Pete, Beautiful video, poor resolution here, might be my data. Looks like you have a hell of a grip on the stick. You can see your control input to output delay, looks like the odd gust of wind gets you. Loved the other creek. Great looking clouds. The descent is awesome, as is the view you kept turning around. Very nice approach and landing. Great Barefoot flying
Thanks ramjet, it actually wasn't gusty, it was a steady but strong wind. I like to toss it around a bit because it feels relaxing and keeps me entertained 😂👍
Thanks for the ride !
Nice mate, looks like plenty of those flats at the water hole were landable. where are those wind turbines?
Nice, do you worry about the thrust line in that one?
@@mindfulmunchkin1215 not at all, Its a pleasure to fly 🕊️

@@joshuakerr9194 yes sir, great engine
When you wish you were a little bit shorter🎤✌️
If there was good stream, could it fly like a glider?
Can someone explain how is it not spinning as it doesn't have a tail rotor?
I would get up every morning and punch wood with my bare fists to have someone teach me the skills to build one of these.
Canberra?
Riding this style, Your tyres will be worn out within 1000km.
I don't wan't to become the next owner of this bike!
The bike is designed for it and this is well under its limit. Tyres and brake pads are replaceable :)
Just be careful with the rotors, you wont know if you installed them correctly, but this guy did.
He’s trynna counter oil rig
Bloody ripper. Looks great
If he painted it black it could be an assault autogyro.
Don't do homade helicopter if do very carefully it take to month made it
thankyou sir
There we have it folks far cry 4 in real life
i only got one question: WHAT ARE THOSE
how could you not tell it was only running on 3 cyls? man you've got problems it takes far to long for a gyro to get airborne
this video leaves out a lot of context mate 😂
As a retired helicopter mechanic, all I can say is, OH HELL NO. LOL
Perfektes Video, versuche mich gerade zwischen einer Africa Twin und der S1000 XR zu entscheiden. Ich finde beide auf ihre Art grossartig. Das wird keine leichte Entscheidung...

WOOHOO....someone is having an awesome time....👍👍
Mad Max at his best! love the video!!
It could be the pusher prop When it stops no power! Or engine mounts
Looks like a maintenance failure. That thing is a POS.
@@ruidias6333 what makes it look like a maintenance failure?
Génial
Looks like a helicopter from Rust 💀
Do you still have this? Thanks
I sold it and now i have another one
What are you flying now and where? Any videos please. Thanks
@@hrfb9696 im flying an ea81 powered ross symes open frame, and the dark coloured ej18 pod gyro thats in some of my other videos
Excellent landing.
This video made me want to own a GS
Looks like a Subaru EA81 engine on your aircraft, great, reliable power source, used one on my microlight.
Its such a nice engine and can be very powerful with a few small mods. Mine on a different gyro pushes 100hp with ported heads, slightly different cam and compression.
@@omeobandit9928 Also had the cam modded on mine, cleaned the heads up which were from the EFI heads so I converted it to fuel injection and electronic ignition, essentially full FADEC. Always started first time and no problems with carb ice or plugs fouling. Cheap parts too!
@@vumba1331 Awesome setup!
RAW!
I'd better make some more videos of this machine. I've been flying it a bit lately. It is VERY powerful.
Now that's what I want to be doing on the weekends!!!
