    What if fortune is waiting for you at home despite the lack of plan ? remember people dont build houses within 20 years at home . it takes far less than that without a mortgage. 40 years old you are still young unless you under estimate yourself . Procrastination is also = to planning.

    I believe the reason why Africans don’t have mortgage as much as people living abroad is because people in Africa eg in Tanzania (because I’m a citizen here) tend to build their own homes rather than buy a house. Mortgage is indeed a trap to your financial freedom hence people here tend to rent and as the same time build their homes. Uk, it’s a different world beast, rent is expensive but mortgage monthly payment is less than rent but the initial deposit is ridiculously expensive

    I am Nigerian, currently in my twenties and never knew my parents growing up. Today I own my business in the FCT and looking to hire more staff and expand to another bigger location soon. This 'abroad' you people speak about is a big *scam* ! You've been all lied to and sucked into a form of modern day servitude to a country that doesn't and would never acknowledge or accept you, while you waste there working nonstop as "immigrants". If even I can put my leg in and say today I am happy, very happy in Nigeria and would never "immigrate" for free (even with the background I was born into), so can a majority of you who fall for the illusive scam. In a few years those of us that have the high foresight to see the opportunities in Africa and ability to create, generate and expand wealth will rule the continent and own it while you and your children carry the tag "immigrants" abroad, working till you drop. Give your best to your country in Africa, even if it means sacrifice your life. The ancestors must be made proud, immigrating is not a badge of honor or a step up!

    If someone like you thinks you’re a loser what do you want me to say? 😂 Not to trivialize your view but I think you’ve done so well at 41. Very well done. You’re driven, hard-working and on top of that have blessings that no amount can bring. You’re winning at life. The UK can be tough. Sounds like you should move home for a while. If not permanently, just for a break but that depends on your kids’s age and if they can come with you. God bless you.

    These are the stories that many young Africans need to hear. They think getting to UK or America is making it. The quality of life in Africa is much better for the same amount of work as in abroad. Even people I know that went abroad are just about at the same level in life as we are. I have had an opportunity to briefly visit UK for work and it confirmed to me what I have always known, I have never had a desire to live in the Diaspora permanently.!

    Very TRUE analysis 👍. This is a huge wake up call for us Africans in the West. We really need to think deep and start investing back home. As long as one is racially different, no matter how long you have lived in the West, whether born or immigrant, you will still be considered different and every time, you will be asked where you came from.

    You are a winner! Life is not measured by the heights and abundance of material possessions and qualifications. With that being said, it is fair to understand the point on mortgage being viewed as a debt-trap based on own perspective. Let's address the point on mortgage, lending credence to the fact that you already acknowledged a landlord could downsize. The notion behind a debt-trap mortgage primarily stems from the fact that often times, the interest payable over a 2 to 4 decade period tends to be in the multiple of 3 -4 times the mortgage's principal amount, and when factoring the variable interest rates at the latter (re)payment period, it could be overwhelming or a watershed moment and many houses become repossessed or auctioned, particularly, when the growth in income level is constant, not at par or inversely proportional to the continuous rising cost of living value and the mortgagor consequentially defaults in payment. Nonetheless, there are certain options worth weighing on reaching a certain age, especially when one is faced with job loss or medical condition (e.g. lifetime mortgage and/or inheritance options: - of which the mortgagor may choose not to pay principal borrowed again for the rest of their lives and still pass on a debt free inheritance) - one might need to consult a seasoned accountant or finance advisor for a cost benefit analysis of such options and so decide to take advantage of the inherent advantage in such coded offers without any financial fallout. On the other hand, it is possible to systematically reduce the total interest payable (by paying a little more off the remaining interest each month) and pay off the mortgage before the original agreed period. You are not a loser just because you aimed for the stars some years ago and it seems you have only landed on the moon. You will be alright!

    Anyway, at least you are living in the mortgage house that you bought in the UK. But thinking of working and buildig mansions in Nigeria is no. But u can build a normal bungalow for in case. Since u have your family in the UK, just take it easy dear. Live your life. Train them there.

  • @uduakedet2861
    @uduakedet2861 8 годин тому

    I observe that you’re extremely negative. Why do you keep using the word ‘trap’.? I find it ridiculous that you refer to your kids that God blessed you with as traps. Why not see them as a blessings instead. If you want to remain abroad then do that, if you want to go back home then go ahead. You may not be happy but remember that there are people who pray to be in your shoes. After 20 years, I believe you still have something to be grateful for so focus on GRATITUDE not REGRET

    You can only be a loser if you listen to the devil and you look at others and what they have. A change of mindset is what we need. People start at different point and see achievements differently. Some people are homeless bless the Lord that you have a roof over your head. I do understand where you are coming from but the choice is yours. Submit your way to God and He will direct your path. True joy comes from God.

    A lot of parents speak negatively about Nigeria all the time. This discourages children from wanting to visit. Purchase a home from a developer in one of the good areas in Lagos ( they have mortgages too). It can be a tough period but once you get a home in Nigeria, it easier to take the children back home. Taking them back home in their early years to early teens, makes a difference. Most enjoy Nigeria then

May God heal you and grant you peace in that situation that 's causing you to fall apart. Stop comparing your life to others, that 's what is making feel like a looser and upsetting you. It sounds that all this time it has been about your own strength and abilities. Embrace God in your life; Trust him in all your ways, live within your means, count your blessings. It's important to understand that each one of us here on earth has their own destinies , once you discover this you will be the happiest person on earth.

    I am a uk trained nurse. Lived and worked as a slave for 30 years. I am 57 years. I relocated to Nigeria at exactly 50 years. My children school fees paid for in uk boarding schools. They attended best universities and MBAs were done. Two marriage breakdowns due to stress of life in uk. I was loosing myself despite i was making money in my job. In 2016, I packed my bags. I am the happiest living human in Nigeria. So happy i made the decision to relocate back home. No regrets at all. It wasn't all jolly at home, but with perseverance, you will be happier in the long run. Life is better and sweeter at home, if you can endure. Even, my children don't want to live in uk/USA ( my daughter lives in USA). They hate it . Please come home oooo. God will continue to help us. When I need a bit of foreign currency, I go and do some shifts and cone back to my country.

    Hi, 9 years in Scotland, single mum. I do get worried about my future and children decision in the future too. I came married with a British man and been on my on for 7 years, a person becames confused, I would prefer my own people and I hardly find them. And then yes Africans are Africans that works, my my mind is everywhere and telling myself I left my country and now different this person isn't even from my country. But I still prefer Africans. My advice is taking the children back home as much as you can because that Africans spirit is important for them. I live in a council home not worried about the mortgage. But I live like I'm home mentally, except when on the street

I talk a lot to my kids about life in general life is not easy just take it easy and hopefully make a good decision. Our kids are having a good education, and health is all I look at. My home is back home is where my haert is.

    Thanks for sharing. Your video is interesting and the fact that you mentioned "The Matrix" somewhere, I hope you will go down the rabbit hole. I'm not a New Age believer but all I can say is that what you are searching for lies within YOU. People may call what you just explained as "mid life crisis", but as an immigrant like you living in the UK, the issue of Identity crossed my mind a lot. I even wondered why can't I accept the reality and do what the Indians and Pakistanis do by bringing forth children and letting them live here then retire back home? What I’ve realized is that sometimes the next step isn’t outward, like moving to another country or finding an ‘escape plan,’ but inward, understanding who we are beyond the roles we’ve been playing: immigrant, worker, parent, etc. I used to tie my sense of worth to external success; career milestones, financial stabilit, a big house, a big car, etc but at some point, I started asking myself, "Who am I beyond all this?" It wasn’t easy, but reflecting on that question brought surprising clarity and, over time, a different kind of freedom. One thing that helped me was taking moments to pause and reflect, whether through journaling or just quiet time. I’d ask myself, "What do I truly want right now?" not what society expects, not what I think I should want, but what feels right for me in this moment. I've literally seen people pack their bags and go back home, only to return back to Europe after a couple of years, broke and then start playing hide and seek, not from the police but from their fellow compatriots. As Carl Jung put it, the Self can be really challenging especially if we haven't identintified our archetypes. Sometimes we think we know ourselves but until we unearth our deeper truths that are burried within our unconscious, we will continue battling with inadequacy, identity, worries, etc as our ego's and shadows consume us. Finally, I don’t have all the answers, but understanding myself better changed a lot for me, and maybe that’s something that could help you too.

    From Kenya- Abroad is a scam- Africa is the best in terms of weather, worklife, and fresh foods. Rampant corruption and Nepotism deny many Africans of opportunities hence massive immigration. India has the caste system that pins down some castes hence the same immigration problem in India.
