    I'm looking to get a full frame camera. It does surprise me though that two people now have said that 3200 is good and 6400 is their limit. That's only one stop more than my limits on M43. I would use 6400 with something like dxo though. So I was expecting a bit more. But it looks a great camera. Just the right size and price used. I'm looking for a high megapixel camera and this seems a good option for me.

    When they say base iso does this mean using 800 iso works well in sunlight? I mean I know I can up my arpeture to darken but I don’t wanna lose my 1.4 look. In that case should I deviate from the dual base iso at that point?

    • @MalcolmWalker
      @MalcolmWalker 2 дні тому

      It means to shoot log footage you have to be at 800 iso for base iso. It can go lower or higher from that but what you would want is an ND filter to help darken the image without changing your depth of field look.

    Very late to this video, but I appreciate the insight and I loved seeing your photo examples especially of the Milky Way. Ever since around 2019 I pretty much dreamed of getting my hands on an A7rII or III, but I had to put it on the backburner. Now I've been selling off some other camera gear to go towards one and I have my eyes set on the II. Even though this video in itself is old, I have no major issues with the older Sony screens/etc. The bodies themselves and lenses far outweigh that for me. Just watching this and hearing you talk about the IBIS has got me psyched up. As someone who is naturally very 'shaky' I've had lower success rates in the past with hitting focus on APS-C bodies that didn't have any stabilization. I can't wait to get my hands on one of these monsters. Great video!

    Thanks for the video! I just want to get in the game and have been researching for days..I've been looking for a good hybrid setup for 1000-1500 and have been really in between getting a used A7 iii or new a6600 or Nikon Z5 which are both 1000 new(Nikon is on sale..but i know in future i prefer sony system for lens options etc) A6400 is the only good used deal i see for around 600 these days. I saw Stuart Rodwell do some videos here on 6700 with sigma 56mm 1.4 and it's epic but i feel the price is over my budget for now Also saw the A7rii video - perfect photo camera, pity it's only good for photos

    Hello. I offer professional video services primarily in the field of music videos and short video commercials. I have a Sony a7sIII, Sigma DG DN Art 24-70, DG DN Art 50mm 1.4, and Sigma DG DN Art 24mm 1.4. Since I've been receiving more event orders lately where they want both video and photo, I want to get a budget body on which to teach my wife. Since I always use the 24-70 on the a7sIII at events, I can let her use the 50mm on the a7rII. Do you think the a7rII is a suitable body for her to learn on, but still justifies the level to get paid for photo services?

    • @MalcolmWalker
      @MalcolmWalker 3 місяці тому

      I have not tried any Tamron glass on my A7Rii. However I’m sure it works great. Sony gave mount specifications to 3rd party manufacturers and they have all the information they need from Sony to make sure the lens is compatible and functions correctly. So as long as the 28-200 is a native FE-mount lens. It should work perfectly.

    I have moved on to the A7R3 in the Sony world. It fixed what was lacking in the A7RII. Mostly I could not deal with the struggling eye focus. The R3 is much, much better--and it nails pretty much everything much better. It was a good upgrade. However, the Sony A7RII felt way better in the hand as it was a bit thinner. In this regard it was perfection. If they could put the improved eye focus in the R2, I would purchase a used R2 body. It really was a joy to handle. Good video. Thanks.

    Superb man! The last bit you did balancing aperture with ISO to keep exposure the same, that was just brilliant demonstration of ISO performance. Never have I ever seen anyone do it like that on UA-cam. I am looking to buy FX30 and was really curious about its low light performance, your demonstration cleared a lot of doubts. ISO 6400-8000 looks very usable. Although ISO 5000 would be safest bet in low light. Thanks a lot.

    Thank you for your excellent content. Would you recommend the 2-5 stop or the 6-9 stop if I mostly vlog on my smartphone outside (at different times of the day)?

      For a phone I would recommend the 2-5, they are just not as good in low light but could easily benefit from the 2-5 imo.

    Does this have the voice record option? they used to call it V.O.R. voice operated recording on the old cassette models if you remember those days.

    Can you easily detach the case without scratching the Macbook pro?

    Between the a7rii or the a6400 for a beginner which one would you pick?

    • @MalcolmWalker
      @MalcolmWalker 4 місяці тому

      The A6400 will be a faster and easier to use to learn on. It will have more modern features. But if you want better image quality and a better camera, then I would Pick the A7Rii

    I have bought this case for my new Macbook Pro in the last couple of weeks and overall I'm very happy with it. However, in the last few days I spotted some forum posts recommending against casing MacBooks at all. They said cases could put pressure on the display half, weaken the hinge, and stifle the cooling mechanisms. Do you think this is true? Should I need to worry for my Mac if I plan to use the Supcase for many more years? I really don't know if it's true or fake and how does the Supcase fit in to these comments... Will be grateful for your opinions.

      I am still using this case. My initial concern was the weight it added to the screen. After 2 years and counting I have never had an issue with the hinges or the screen. I believe improper installation or removal may be a contributing factor for the screen damage. Cooling has never been an issue for me. It is rare that I stress the MacBook Pro 14” base model enough to get hot. While I see the case may insulate the shell of the laptop from being able to shed some heat. The primary cooling vents are still fully open and can function. Ultimately I think it can be an issue under very stressful work loads, but not the everyday user. I feel over the last two years using this case it has done more good in protection, than harm.

      @@MalcolmWalker thank you very much for your long reply. It has made me feel more secure now to keep my new Mac stay put in the Supcase :) Best regards and keep up the great reviews :) I have one last question. Do you think that the Mac with the Subcase would fit into a sleeve dedicated for a Macbook Pro 14 or can it be to big for that? I would rather know this before making the purchase.

    This tutorial must have a million likes, I want to take photographs of a little bit of everything, do you recommend the A7R iii?

    • @MalcolmWalker
      @MalcolmWalker 4 місяці тому

      Yes, the A7Riii would be terrific for that. If I ever find a good deal on one I would get it. I would replace my A7RII for it, but it would be a great camera.
