People act like quest markers are a controversial aspect of RPGs, but these folk arent remembering what it was like BEFORE quest markers. World of Warcraft added them because Quest Helper was the largest Add-On. People who didnt play with mods would instal Quest Helper. And wandering the wastes in Marrowind WASNT FUN! Daggerfall had quest markers, and Marrowind was a step back that only the craziest of roleplayers enjoyed. It was controversial taking them out! Other RPGs at the time are either renowned for being bullshit, or had such tight world design that all you need is the quest log, and a half functional brain. Ahem... Also, Oblivions RPG design is so versatile that "Oblivion with Guns" means very little. Outer Worlds also uses that 1st person model, and its great.

15:45 FYI those sales number back then - for a genre known by games NOT made for casuals (RPG)? Those were considered "good" - enough to fund more games - not one, but more. But then Interplay went bankrupt, lol. To put it in perspective - classic Tomb Raiders sold in 6-7 mln and that was considered "insane numbers" or something along these lines. With Lara being literal icon of popculture. Kovic? RIP Funhaus, what a glorious time it was. As for Fallouts from Bethesda? Nice games, so-so RPGs (FO4 even less) and weak Fallouts. Bethesda never understood it - there are videos on YT that can explain it better than me.

In the european release version on ps3 and i was always wondering as a kid why all the characters had purple faces, textures would be corrupted and sometimes i would find giant radscorpions and deathclaws in goodsprings when i spawned in. And to this day i remember that the Gommorah cashier was the only person that didnt have a purple face and i remeber being so fascinated by it

Fallout 3 is oblivion with guns, Skyrim is Fallout 3 without guns, Fallout 4 is Skyrim with guns and Starfield is Fallout 4 in space without the retro stuff.

I was around during all of this and never heard of oblivion with guns. Skyrim with guns = Far Cry 3 was far more popular of a meme later. Seems like something only fallout 1 and 2 purists cared about.

I did not know "Oblivion with guns" was related to Stalker, I thought it was an Fallout 3 thing, but In my head, that was always a compliment to me. Because it just compares one of my favorites games of all time, with another fun game. Also, I love Stalker, and I always come back to play Call of Chernobyl because of the Sandbox aspects.

The fallout community sucks. Except the modders. I will enjoy fo4 as my favorite one. And I don’t care what people think. I like NV but people think it’s way better than it actually is. Not the fan of the setting honestly. Fo4 had a dense map. Not a fan of revenge plot lines either. I also like settlements. I played Nv and I feel like it could have been better if they had more time to make it. Fo3 is better than it imo. Unpopular opinion. Not a fact.

I need to take this spot to mention my dad, who has played the Sony Playstation game King's Field II (and 1) (and 3) more times than I can count. But King's Field II was the first one we played. I played it once, and then later again. But my dad? He has played it a hundred times to completion if he has played it once. He knows where every unmarked secret passage is just walks up and hits X.

Fallout 3, flaws and all brought back to life a loved franchise and New Vegas can only be compared to Morrowind. However anything that after that is just lazy and sloppy. (I ditched Skyrim after 5 hours and oblivion bored me to death)

To be fair, is the underlying theme of "Fox News makes stuff up instead of doing proper research" really a shock at this point. A few years ago, Fox News won a court case using the argument that they weren't a real news outlet and only ill-informed idiots would believe the crap they come out with (true story, look it up). They tried that same argument a second time to get out of the 2020 Election "big lie" case, but didn't get lucky a second time and got a huge fine instead. By comparison, the stuff they made up about Mass Effect is small potatoes - trying to destroy a computer game franchise versus trying to destroy democracy; not in the same league.

I managed to replicate the ps3 save issue on xbox 360 with skyrim as a kid because I played skryim so much. goodbye nearly 100% save.
