It's honestly incredible how much was correct, and felt like it was alluding to the FO4 we know now. When blizzard announced warlords of draenor, i started telling people how the story would play out, not just for wod, but the following 2 exoansions as well, down to exact details. Everything i said came true, stuff more than 5 years away!
How did i do this?
What was my source?
I had none
I just was in tune with blizzards patterns of storytelling that the moment i was given Any lead, i was able to extrapolate where that would take us. Everything else was just things i either Thought would be cool, or things so long requested that there was little reason to doubt theyd return
Yet had i gone around posting it on reddit or giving it to news sites, guarantee people would walk away thinking i was an inside source from blizzard
We knew Fallout 4 was Boston, Bethesda were spotted scouting locations by a bunch of different people during 2012 a year before Survivor2099 went up. And then Fallout 3 has synths, the Commonwealth, the Institute, the Railroad and the SRB. Even had a line about the Commonwealth being a wasteland and the Institute being sealed away from the outside world.
You forgot that not only did matty blew up over survivor2299 but also yongyea who became the new english voice of kazuma kiryu and lonevaultwanderer who does a lot of stuff. And nowadays well, it went from just a select bunch of fallout youtubers to pop culture and everyone talks about fallout. Also, you forgot the leaked fallout 4 documents that were released when survivor2299 was kicking off and the fake survivor2299 ties like "The Propheteer" and some facebook group that matty reported on but i forgot its name.
Yongyea is a walking L
He mentions YongYea at 26:14 actually
@@BrandonOfJapanI remember when YongYea was a decent creator. Then he fell off HARD. Nowadays, he is a walking L just like you said.
@@BrandonOfJapanwho is yongyea n why is he an L?
Hearing Elderfall Scrollout while not wathing the screen made me think I was having a stroke😭
Some parts of this video made me blow more air out of my nose than I usually do, well done.
There should be a name for that.
The phone dial tones do have a name its just not commonly known, DTMF tones, you can generate them in audacity.
I call the dial tones dial tones.
Hey man, stumbled across this video because of the algo. Basically a lifelong fallout fan, and I distinctly remember this drama and the ensuing chaos. Your editing and scripting is solid, dude. Excellent video, thank you for taking me for a stroll down memory lane. Best wishes.
Fun part: the date that survivor2299 was set to was 11/12/13
i almost forgot about this, thanks for bring back the terrible memories 😔
The institute being the only safe place... is mega spot on... maybe this guy got a hold of leaks?
In a perfect world they’d hire that 2299 guy as a marketing consultant or something that’s how you do a fuckin reveal
I remember waking up at 4am to screen record the official countdown as it clicked over good times before life sucked… I had hope back then 😂
This video reminded me that this website was probably the first place I watched the Tunnel Snakes Rule video. Wild. I remember following this story using my school's and my local library's computers, because I didn't have the Internet at home.
this video will 100% his the algorithm one day, good job!
You were right
I genuinely believe that guy had legit leaks to prove the same info that ended up in the final game but was quickly contacted and silenced by Bethesda
TUNNEL SNAKES RULE!
I do remember following this through his channel and reddit. Being a senior high school with nothing better to do, this literally consumed my life like many others. Was literally gutted when it was found to be a trop... though I will say thank you for shouting out MrMattyPlays. This is how I came across his channel and if there's anything good that came out of this, it was that I found his channel and how he's now made a career out of UA-cam.
This channel unironically has some of the most interesting and engaging videos i've seen. Keep it up cheesecake 👍
Damn that MrMattyPlays clip unlocked a core memory
Damn this was a trip down memory lane and very well done, kudos. December 6th is my birthday, and I remember when Bethesda sent that tweet out I was so disappointed lol. Was the worst 16th birthday ever
for 5k subs ur editing is insane deserved the sub
The elder fall scroll out
Really good storytelling, this vid has the potential to go really big like 1 mil +, good job dude
Dude, the editing and humor in this vid is just immaculate. Glad someone took a moment to document this period of internet history. Never subbed to someone so fast!
all that wait only to realize the real fallout 4 was a post nuclear settlement simulation
wrong, the settlement system was literally a last minuet add on
Literally 3 months before the E3 reveal someone suggested settlement building during a meeting and everyone liked the idea so much they added it(and iirc the minuet men came around at almost the same time)
@@victorkreig6089 i called it sarcastically a settlement sim didn't know it was a last minute add on though thanks for the info
insane just how funny you are with your editing and style of humour. genuinely keep it up cuz this was informative and really funny
Being apart of this lore is so satisfying. It was so much fun trying to decode those cyphers. I remember looking through relay tower KX-B8-11 in game for more clues. Listening to the pirate radio thing and hearing those sounds live gave me an adrenaline rush I can still feel. Then the finale being tunnel snakes was the biggest kick in the nuts. 10/10
Recommending Yong "I am the best voice actor!" Yea in 2024...
If this is the content expected from your channel, I'll have notificationa turned up til UA-cam shuts down. Great topic, excellent presentation!
So I'm new around here, does this mean he has to go out and get a slice of cheesecake for every video?
or maybe he is actually just a slice of cheese cake
[For your abhorrent actions, you have been VILLIFIED by the community]
good video, sh***ed my pants halfway through
The last time in recent memory that has me as excited as 2299 was all the live coverage and ARG around Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines 2.
Still not over that hype.
This was a very entertaining and funny video. I was surprised to see you didn't have more subscribers! Keep up the work!
It's briefly referenced in this video but I would love to see you do a deep dive on the Halo 2 ARG. It's been done before but this channel's presentation is exceptional!
10:58 that’s a banger
8 thousand subscribers? Seriously??? This is million subscriber+ tier content.
dude, ten years waiting for one game is normal now, bioware has done the same :(
i remember following this as it was happening, i genuinely think something more in the direction of this arg wouldve been better than the fallout 4 we got. also that 2013 mrmattyplays clip was such a throwback lol
Seeing that they eventually got fallout 4 makes me have hope for titanfall 3 after the October 27th incident
I’ll always remeber this. My best friend and I in college checking up on the website constantly, theorizing what was going on.
That was a good time.
This was deeply repressed memory
It's honestly incredible how much was correct, and felt like it was alluding to the FO4 we know now. Boston, the institute thinking itself as the only safe place is very accurate, the sole survivor having a troubled past is very much correct, both in the sense that they're a war vet AND that their past is literally when the trouble began. Can't help but think that Bethesda was probably already going in this direction, but this must have influenced some things to the slightest degree if only calling our protagonist the soul survivor, that'd be big enough for me.
This was the Grinch leak before the Grinch leak lmao
Your commentary is phenomenal.
Very clever and and funny.
i already asked you this on the worst comment section video but how did you get the old-timey audio effect at 16:57 ?
@14:19 is when I subscribed to your channel. Im from Gary Indiana and spend a lot of time at the state fish and wildlife areas in the region, so this really caught me off guard.
This video better blow up
I remember the ESO beta was going on around the same time and I had just gotten accepted into it, I remember being there trying to decode things myself and this was happening at the peak of my obsession with Bethesda and the strangest part of it all to me is that after the actual Fallout 4 reveal everything seemed to go downhill in how I perceived Bethesda
Og's will remember freshavocado
21:17 "few people cried... few people lought... most of them were silent." - Robert oppenhimer. after the bombs fell. this fitted in so god dang perfect.
Funny how I was actually wanting it to be real as the video went along knowing it wasn't.
Dude I looked at your channel for approximately 2.8 seconds before immediately subscribing.
Fallout fans not get outraged over stupid shit challenge (impossible)
I was around back when everything was happening the first time. Why does everyone forget is that TheSurvivor2299 actually end up predicting exactly when Fallout 4 was to be announced.
I'm quite sure some hacks at Bethesda just "came up" with the ideas for Fallout 4 from the speculation of 2299 discussions
Todd Howard looked at that one MIT guy and Survivor 2299 and thought "okay you know what would be REALLY funny"
To the one "trust me bro" guy's credit (6:00), he was 100% on the money.
This content is very high quality from such a small channel, Keep up the good work.
this is the most hyped ive seen people be for a 6/10 game
"Elder Fall Scroll Out" is new to me, but put a huge smile on my face!
Lindsay, your profile picture is beautiful.
@@B-zk9bt Thanks!! It was fun to make!
For having only 10k subs this is a really funny and high quality video, you definitely deserve much more. Keep going man!
What I find super funny here is that this is 2013, 3 years after NV came out. Some nerds are so impatient they think that 3+ years for a new video game in a franchise is "forever"
YOUR CHANNEL IS SO UNDERRATED???
Thank you for this retrospective
I was in high school during this, and hype was so high even on the other part of a globe
your editing is so good??? how are you not a bigger creator?
Ending it with that song and video, is hysterical
