+1 on the great insurance. The close family member fell severely ill just days before our trip. They were with us to make sure that we got reimbursed for everything and we got to spend the last few moments with them that we had. They didn’t rush us on anything. I never thought I would have to use it but I’m so happy it was there and they reimbursed over $9000 worth of travel.

The whole point of this card is the lounges. I mean, just for the priority pass membership for 2 people is way more expensive than this card and you only have acces to priority pass. Everyone talk about the incredible insurance, but I dont understand why, 15 days is pretty low and restrictive.... the 110$ dollar Desjardins Odysee Or gives 60 days under 60 years old.

people should read the cardholders agreement before signing up. If you charge something in any currency other than US dollars the charge will not be converted directly into Canadian Dollars on your bill. It is first converted to US dollars then converted from US dollars to CDN dollars. I assume this is done purely to gouge clients. If someone has another explanation Im all ears. As pretty much any currency in the world can easily be converted to CDN I can think of no other reason other than to run up the bill!

My husband and I are looking to go to Japan next fall, traveling from Vancouver. We have a lot of avión points saved up up - would you recommend transferring to BA then? Using Japan air? We were also looking at booking flights to Europe directly through the avión site, but they wanted 65,000 points + $800+ CAD, which was the same price as paying cash. Is it ever a good deal to book directly through avión site or only when transferring to partners?

So….. I actually designed the AC lounge! I’ve worked in the lounge world for a long time. First, no alcohol before 11am is a BC liquor law. If the sky team lounge is serving it, they are breaking the law! As a regular traveller, I think airports should be exempt, but I don’t make the laws. I’ve been to the sky team lounge several times and it is so lame compared to AC. Lastly re your complaint about not having access to the whole airport-you need to understand that unlike American airports, at yvr (&yyz) you can actually make a seamless connection from another country to an international flight (ie, the US via YVR to HKG) without going into Canada & out again. This puts on par with European & Asian airports, but precludes you from access to the whole airport….
