Love it! Have had great service in business class and love those lie flat seats! Yes! Part of the journey and so nice to have all the extra comforts! ❤
The no alcohol service before 11 issue is not AC's fault! In BC we have absolutely archaic, Prohibition-era liquor laws. I've seen restaurants shut down for 2 days because some patrons decided to get up and dance to a song when a liquor inspector happened to be there, and the restaurant had a food-primary licence, which doesn't allow dancing. What is this- Footloose?!?! It's absolutely crazy out here! .... now, time to unpause and get back to the video! Thanks for your great content!
Also, the other bar: it has a different type of liquor license. Getting any liquor licence in BC is ridiculously hard. BUT, you're correct- Air Canada should have sought that same licence! (this is proof that I paused the video to comment!😄)
Thank you for this added context! It does give them some points back, but as you said they should seek out the different licence. As another legal aside I've always been surprised airport lounges are allowed to let customers self serve. One could theoretically pour themselves a quintuple shot or something even worse like a vodka coke! I do see the need for some order lol.
@@TheCanadianJetsetter I encourage to write to both Air Canada and the BC Liquor Licensing board. Note that some breakfast only restaurants in the Vancouver area are allowed to serve alcoholic beverages such as Mimosas starting at 9AM. With the BC Election coming up, I would also encourage you to ask the local candidates in both parties running for MLAs on their thoughts of the current liquor laws.
Hey, thanks for that, but I don't remember YVR looking that good. But that was back in 1975. PPT - YVR with QF and again 1979 NAN - YVR, but I can't for the life of me who with !!. Great clip despite the orange top hehe
Great video, I have been to Vancouver airport twice, domestic flights! Business class looks very inviting! Might consider it for an international flight !!
My suspicion is that Air Canada's Signature Suite, like the Skyteam lounge might have a liquor license that allows alcohol to be served starting 9AM while the Maple Leaf Lounge has a license that only allows alcohol starting at 11AM. If I were you, I would have paid an additional ~15,000 points to get the flexpoints redemption so I can get Signature Suite access.
You mean you took this flight back in end of March? It really took you a long time for the editing, etc The end product is great. Worth all the wait of the viewers
Yes! I have a bunch of footage I stockpiled but never edited :) catching up now and will have some much more recent flights after I work through the backlog. Thanks so much glad you like the videos!
That's why it is called no fun Vancouver, weird nimby based policies that make it hard for small businesses. The strict food and alcohol rules are nuts.
Excellent! You’re an excellent (quirky at times) presenter. I giggled all the way through. Very informative Graeme. 👍🏻
Thank you! Would rather be quirky than boring (though I can't help it) :)
@ it’s all good Graeme. I’m complimenting you. 👍🏻

I just was on a west jet flight and a guy beside me had wine at 10am.

Yes worth it for such a long flight. I have AC lounge privileges. Well worth it. Superb service.
You're hilarious 😂. I love your vlogs🤣
Thank you :) Glad you enjoyed! I've been having fun making them.
I wonder if the duty free shops cant sell alcohol until after 11?
I agree with you. I hate the dimming lights on the B787.

you said you like yvr. its nice looking but they got mice running around. had to get my feet up while waiting for a flight.

I love your videos❤❤
Thank you!!
Definitely some improvements but still the food seems very simple and basic. Used to be a cheese course before dessert.
That’s so strange. In Montreal YUL they do offer alcohol in the morning.
YUL is in Quebec, not BC. Provinces set all drinking rules, including age.
The only one with the windows not dimmed; a big no-no!
On a overnight flight sure, on a day time flight where no one is sleeping - nah
It’s not an AC law, it’s a BC law. No alcohol anywhere before 11 even brunch spots.
Interesting - but the Skyteam lounge does serve before 11 AM?
I search this route all the time and have never seen it for 75k
I've only ever seen it once (and booked it immediately). Definitely very rare.
That's why it is called no fun Vancouver, weird nimby based policies that make it hard for small businesses. The strict food and alcohol rules are nuts.
I can see it, such a beautiful but also very frustrating place.
Asians eat anything for breakfast dude 😂 noodles, rice we dont care lol
I am getting onboard with it!!
Great video. Looked like typical Air Canada mediocrity.
Why and when does having alcohol equate to being fun? Toxic and should never be served
Sir this is a silly UA-cam video. I'll sip a sparkling water for you next time tho :)
