- Welcome to the world of savvy travel with credit card points! In this video, I'm diving deep into the art of maximizing your travel points to unlock luxurious adventures without breaking the bank. If you're not playing the points game smartly, you're basically throwing money out of the plane window! 🛩️💸
🔑 Key Highlights:
1. Understanding Points: I break down the confusing world of travel points into two main types: Fixed Value Points and Variable Value Points. 🧐
2. Fixed Value Points: Your go-to for straightforward, no-nonsense travel savings. Think of them as your reliable travel buddy who's always ready to hit the road. 🛣️
3. Variable Value Points: For the bold and the brave! These points are your ticket to luxurious experiences like flying business class for the cost of economy. Requires some Sherlock Holmes-level investigation, but the rewards? Mind-blowing! 🕵️♂️✨
4. Real Examples: I dive into specific programs like RBC Avion, Aeroplan, CIBC Aventura, and WestJet Dollars, showing you how to squeeze every ounce of value out of them. 🍋💰
5. Your Travel Identity: Are you a 'set-it-and-forget-it' traveler or a 'points ninja'? Find out which type of point collector you are and how to make the most of it. 🥋🧳
🎬 In this video, not only will you learn how to navigate these programs like a pro, but you'll also get a sneak peek into my favourite strategies and upcoming deep dives into specific programs. Subscribe for more insider tips!

I'd love to see you cover hotel points as well from a Canadian perspective. It sucks that the only true hotel keeper card in Canada is the Bonvoy Amex (because the Best Western MBNA card is a joke, and Amex Platinum only works if you fly a bunch as well).
In the same vein, when does it make sense to transfer points from one currency (say Bonvoy or IHG Rewards) to another (say Aeroplan)? Is it dependant on the currency conversion, the value of each programs points inside their program, how/when you could even use them before expiry, or a combination of all of these?
Great video by the way!
Good job! Keep making more contents on how Canadians can maximize their points, can't wait for more videos
Great content old friend
Thanks!! Hope you're doing friend.
Great video, you're my new favorite miles n points channel. Are you going to cover flights only, or accommodations too (e.g. Marriott Bonvoy program)?
I was hoping you would cover American Express.
Canadian credit cards pale in comparison to the value you get specifically for Amex Cobalt. Do you have a trifecta of credit cards you recommend? Like a mix of Visa, Mastercard and Amex for the Canadian market.
I will definitely do some deep dives in the future, but in short I agree. Amex Cobalt is my favourite card hands down due to the 5x points on food. I think for many Canadians it makes sense to stack the Cobalt with an Aeroplan card (as you can then transfer your Amex points to Aeroplan). There are some good travel Mastercards as well that I'd recommend for specific circumstances.
Great quick basic info, clears up a lot for most people. Now how about dissecting the programs a little more to there uses and best use situation is a basic way? I think you could probably do a better, more easily understood method than most content creators. Thanks again.
Thanks!! I definitely plan to do a deep dive into each program that shows earning and redemption opportunities. This was a bit of a test video as I am still learning how to edit/voiceover/green screen. I think I'm getting the hang of it lol.
Thanks for the fantastic video. Please give us tips on how to fly West Jet business class!
Thanks! More to come!! There isn't any great trick to get it super cheap. Where are you looking to fly? Earning WestJet Dollars can definitely help and you can save a bit extra by redeeming a combo of WestJet Dollars and Cash (it's what they call a Member's Exclusive Fare). That saved me about $100 extra off my one way WestJet Business ticket.
Good job. Enjoyed it, and learned something.
This is a very brief summary and promising video.
At 2:59, Please dive deeper sooner. We want to know more.
Any way to filter a cheap Aeroplan business class on which date/time?
What are the top 3 fixed point programs?
And why?
What about Amex?
This should have been an 8mins video
