Can you still get access to the May watercolor week? Geri ct
Hey Geri! The replays are available in The Garden Studio membership - enrollment opens soon! Plus we have a brand new watercolor week coming up at the end of October :D
I'm slowly exploring color mixing. It's fun to see what you can come up with but there are times where I am impatient and I lean into the convenience colors. Thanks for sharing this with us!
Thanks Lisa!! I hear you - I have some favorite convenience mixes I use over and over :D
It scared me when it said Ally, since it my nickname at school. Lol
Leaf info please
Alex is the best teacher I have found in learning how to watercolor. She begins with the foundations of water/paint consistency so that we are set up for success. If you are on the fence about joining The Garden Studio, I encourage you to leap into this wonderful creative community! This is my own comment without any perks of saying so. 🥰
This is so incredibly helpful!! 🎉
I love the explanations and the demo!!!! Looking forward to your watercolor week!
Very helpful! Thank you.

Terrific explanation 👏👏👏 🎨 🖌️
This is the best tutorial I've seen about water control. You' ve helped me a lot. Now I know why I couldn't paint wet on wet. Thank you so much. 🤗
I started painting almost two years ago. I never really understood the subtle differences in watercolor consistency and terminology until I watched your video this morning! THANK YOU for clarifying the mystery for me! You are really a gem of a teacher!! 💎❤️💎❤️💎❤️
Brilliant demo!
Thanks Alex excellent information. Love the way you teach! 🎉🎉🎉
Aleex you are a great teacher!!! I learn sooo much from just one class. Im an octogenarian (80) and rekindling an old interest from my college days. Thanks so much.
That's so wonderful, Kathleen! I'd love to see your work sometime; you can share it in our free florals Facebook group if you'd like (facebook.com/groups/floralwatercolors)... Best of luck on your watercolor journey! I'm really excited for you. :D ~Rachel The Garden Studio Community Manager
Very good info. Now I understand when other tutorials say "milk, coffee, tea" consistency but don't explain. You're the first. Thank you. 😊
Wow! I agree! Wow! I could have listened to more!
WOW! By far the best demo and explanation of water and paint consistency I have seen. Thank you so much. Love your way of teaching.
I’m thrilled to hear that you found the demo helpful! Water and paint consistency can be tricky, so I’m glad the explanation made things clearer. Thank you for your kind words, it's great to have you with us! ~Rachel The Garden Studio Community Manager
Awesome. Thanks Alex💕
Thanks. I love painting with you.
Thank you!
Yep! The foundation is always the most important part of any creation. It’s worth the splurge if you can do so
You're so right Ive tried a bunch if 100 percent cotton paper thats cheaper and recommended on yt but none of it has performed like the expensive stuff
what is the brand of watercolor paper? Your instructions are great.
Hi Janis, great question! Alex recommends Arches 100% cotton 140lb paper. :D ~Rachel The Garden Studio Community Manager
really like the way you taught the petal folds. an excellent tutorial thank you
Baohong is slightly cheaper and it's good quality. Have you used it?
Alex has used it! It's not one she recommends for final projects, as it's a cheaper paper, but it's fine for practice... In her opinion, it's better than Canson paper! ~Rachel The Garden Studio Community Manager
You're a fabulous teacher! I'd love to see peonies in various perspectives.
Yes I would love step by step tutorial for flowers of any description. Thanks so much for your time & consideration, I do not think flowers are my friends, & I have great difficulty in drawing & painting. ❤❤❤❤❤
Of course, Karen! Don't worry, the more you practice, the better your relationship with painting and drawing will become. I'm confident that you'll find it comes easier with time! ~Rachel The Garden Studio Community Manager
Beautiful work and GREAT teaching. Thank you from NZ. 😃👏
Thank you❤

Is brush soap different to hand soap?
Yes, typically gentler and won't strip the bristles. Google "The Masters Brush Cleaner" and you'll see some examples.
This must have been filmed awhile ago and just uploaded two months ago? You mention going to a ballgame with your boyfriend and asking what about having a monthly membership group!
Hi Janet, yes! These are from our lesson Archives, and we're reposting them to UA-cam from Facebook... Alex is married to Jared now and the membership is in full swing! ~Rachel The Garden Studio Community Manager
I made that mistake. 😂❤ Hugs from Chile
Hi Alex it’s Kay from MS
Where do you get the paint you’re using? I’m in Australia and have never heard of that brand.
Great question, Jacquie! Alex likes a few different sellers- Blick, Cheap Joes, etc... But Blick should ship to Australia. I'd check it out and search up QoR Paints! ~Rachel The Garden Studio Community Manager
I always love your take on products! And you introduced me to Qor, which is amazing.
you make this look so easy, this painting is super.. Appreciate the tips on leaves, I have been seeing in nature so much of the twists and crinkles. You are fun to learn with
Love your enthusiasm!
I want to know where to sign up for your paid water color classes.
Hi! Great question- enrollment is currently closed, but we'll be opening again here in the Fall (likely October), and you can sign up for the waitlist here: learn.alexkincaidart.com/the-garden-studio-waitlist/ You'll get all the latest notifications about The Garden Studio before anyone else when you're on the waitlist! ~Rachel
On a recent walk in my "new construction" n'hood I discovered a patch of thistle... gorgeous!! Not sure that I ever saw thistle long enough to study. Such an unusual flower. Thanks again for your perspective study.
i am learning so many tips from you. You are so knowlegable and have teaching and artistic skills
That is a "pigma micron" pen! Js! Lol!
Hello from Upstate NY! Retired nurse and COVID isolation era self taught watercolor painter….still learning and still loving it….every single day! Thanks for sharing your expertise.
I love how excited Alex gets before class. It always starts things off on such a positive note! ❤
I completely agree! She has an infectious smile and positivity to her. :D ~Rachel
