Watching video for the second time. My brother, dad and i hiked up to reeds peak from Hermosa on spud patch trail i believe in the late 80s. Hunted all of the east side below diamond peak to Victoria park mountain. Hiked in to the animas in the early 2000s. Was amazing. Brett Vaughn did a recent video in there. Burned pretty bad, old cabin is gone. Love your videos.

The cannon story blows my mind. I wish it hadn’t been stolen. I would love to see it, I’m going to get that book. I think you would like the story of Doc Noss and the victorio peak gold if you aren’t already familiar. My dad’s best friend growing up was a descendant of doc and they had a map made by doc that showed places he had stashed some gold. Every time they found a stash point, there was a big hole in the ground. Already dug up. There are photos of golden swords and Virgin Mary statues online. It’s a pretty amazing story.

I found out about the diamond bar debacle after passing through there and becoming curious of the ranch’s history. Gosh dang I got mad reading that!

Ty, have you done anything concerning Victorio's attack at Massacre Canyon? Have you been there? Also, I know you use Onx Backcountry. do you also carry a satellite rescue device? Garmin? Zoleo?

Liked your video Ty. It brought back memories of the many times I went back there with my Dad and Larry. The adventures were definitely crazy! The neatest thing was the "secret door" that concealed the canyon. You could accidentally walk right past it. The Spanish markers continued all the way down the hidden canyon all the way to the first waterfall.

One of my favorite trips ever was climbing up to Touch-Me-Not and hiking over to Baldy. That road up to Green Mountain is pretty steep!

I have seen elk travelling through that area but they were in the creek bottoms of Ponil creek. South and east of Cimmeron. The UU bar area is supposed to be full of elk as well. Thanks for posting a great look at that area!

Ty, if you purchase an extra tube and longer blade from Wyoming Knife, you can turn that saw into the longer model for those bigger logs....

Let’s also not forget, the black fire was human caused carelessness, and there has been no official identification of the person or people who did it. So no civil remedy available for the rest of the residents impacted. Thanks USFS, but its widely known a wealthy environmental organization was up camping and checking canyons at the time. Every other forest was closed to camping die to the drought, but we coddle certain organizations.

The Diamond bar allotment was still the ranch, the USFS had an agreement, when they bought the place, to improve tanks for watering, but when the local greens decided they didn’t approve, the USFS coddled them and started the process to destroy the historic Diamond Bar, with zero consideration of the investment made by Kit and Sherry. So basically the UsFS stole the allotment and purchased rights in it from them. It was against the law, but it hardly matters with the full justice system backing these agencies.

Adding dowsing to your exploration activities will give more substantive information about the endeavor being undertaken. In the 1970's my father and I reverse engineered the physics involved in dowsing (the same physics that energizes the alarm on electronic metal detectors), and we invented the modern light weight ball bearing dowsing rod for applying dowsing physics in locating our old core-drill on the exact center of gold and silver veins, that are buried under 200 feet of glacier rock and till, which worked out perfectly for us. Above the campground there were a bunch of beaver ponds re-wilding the canyon last time I hiked it.

Awesome, hiked down into the Las Animas creek in that area one time back in the early 1990's. Toughest hike of all time for me. Super cool in the canyon bottoms and even caught some cutthroats. A real adventure! Great video! Brought back some great memories.

I’ve heard a lot of stories about black range have you ever had any weird encounters or something you couldn’t really explain while in there? We deer hunted south of there a few yrs back really pretty country out there .

Thanks for another great video, now I know why you were out of service for a couple of days. That's why I go to some of the places I do, just to be out of service. Where those raspberries or rose hips that would give you the runs? I got a good laugh out of that. Thanks again for sharing, I hope to see some of that country myself some day.

This one is a masterpiece I love that country up there and I've heard those stories and I am impressed I think rough is the word for that country I think that's why I always really liked that country and the whole gila keep riding. Ty, obviously you found and read the book. Was it by any chance autographed by the authors? I found mine in Hillsboro at the museum and it was autographed. Perhaps the authors are living in that area or the museum personnel may have an idea on their whereabouts.

Ty, I'm the guy that made the book recommendation. Hope you enjoyed the book and glad you investigated. A great video. I had read it was rough getting up there and you proved it. Always wondered if the fires might have made it a little easier or perhaps a current days drone might reveal a few more clues.

Nice Rifle! They were made for shooting. You might have erased 100 years of memories but now you can make another 100 years worth.

If that gun letters to that barrel it was worth enough to buy you at least ten modern lever action rifles... long barrels are rare. So why buy an old antique and destroy it? Why did you destroy a man's rifle who's wife interested you to take care of? Also why did you make a new stock? There is a stock finish for Winchester stocks called Winchester red... it is a walnut red tented linseed oil stain that you rub in. Also why blue the action, lever, and but plate? they are supposed to be color Case hardened. Don't do this. If you want to do weird stuff to rifles they sell new ones.... Buy one of those and break out the sand paper.
