- Building a Turkey Box Call out of scrap wood that things around the shop. This is a simple way to build a call to get turkeys to come in during the spring breeding season. Using common tools this can be made by anyone.

thanx
I appreciate the history to go along with the call making.
Thanks. I never know if people enjoy that or find it annoying.
Nice unique little build. We shared this video on our homemade tools forum this week 😎
awesome thanks for this !!!!
Great job.
Nice!
Thanks for the information on making turkey calls they look great but couldn't see the degrees you set your blade to for end blocks for call
I set the table saw to about 7 degrees.
I would love to see some details on call like your end blocks
Great video, beautiful call! Have you considered trying two different thicknesses on the sound boards or maybe routing three strips on one sound board and two on the other?
I have thought about playing around with thickness. It would be a fun experiment to try out different grooves to see how much of a difference it would make.
Terrific! I don’t understand though… Mine just sounds like two pieces of wood rubbing together… No turkey sound at all, what am I doing wrong? And also, what was that orange stuff you rubbed on it?
You can change the sound by putting more of a radius on the top of the sides where the lid makes contact. You only want a little surface area to make contact. The orange is chalk. You can use any old chalk but a brownish color just blends into the wood better. You only need it where it is making contact. Hope this helps.
Ergh, makes my skin crawl.
Could I get a cut list for this??
Hey nice video was wondering if you had any plans for the box call
I don’t have any plans drawn up. Sorry
@@Makingitwild okay what degree of a the table saw blade at
@@johnathanswan490 I set it to 7 degrees
What kind of wood was used for the different parts?
I used purple heat for the striker. walnut and African mahogany for the sides. I’ve used cedar on others and that also works well
Where do you live that has that many turkeys Lol. .. great video man
Thanks. I live in the four corners area on the NM side.
@@Makingitwild you wanna go turkey hunting next season?
Spoiler Alert:
If you need to ask for instructions, mebee you should just step away from the tools, and just pay the $25
