Camper van easy 240v electric hook up installation
Hire I fit the electric hook up socket and connect a Eurohike mobile mains kit. This seems to me to be one of the simplest most cost effective ways to get safe mains electricity in to the van.

Hi Terry, just subscribed after finding you whilst watching Rizal's channel. Love the idea of this excursion, likely to be one I will complete in the near future. Looking forward to following your vlogs. Happy cycling. Mal.
Thanks Mal, it’s great to have you on board. Maybe see you on the road sometime if you’re local
Thanks for this! I would never have realised there was a rotation direction without watching this, and the trick of pushing the beading into the deep part was very useful
Good to know this video is still useful, thanks
That looks a good solution for mains electrics. The wire that runs to the circuit breaker/ sockets will be hidden, I guess? If it is, is it worth running it in some ducting? I'm not an electrician but have wired my own house, getting a qualified guy to inspect my work and sign it off. Apart from one socket that had a poor earth it was OK. When the van is a camper will you have to change the paperwork? Thanks for the latest on the van, hope filming isn't slowing progress too much.
Well I have to say wiring a house is somewhat impressive. In answer to your question yes it will be out of sight under a seat and I’ve just been running some conduit this evening. Thanks for watching and your comments Colin always appreciated 👍
Terry, conduit seems a good idea for wiring as you don't want any cable to chafe against any metalwork. With vibration it is surprising how things could soon rub. I have 30+ years of routing cables in the aircraft industry in a high vibration environment and aerospace regulations. Keep separate from the 12v DC and the Van's existing cables.
@ thanks I’ll be sure to do that 👍
me with my 2 months continental and allready having a flat being convinced that the continental was bad
In my second set now only ever had one flat in close to 3 years. That I can assure you wasn’t my experience prior to these tyres
Great record of your trip Terry. Second time I've watched this in fact 👍 What rack do you use on your Brompton. I'm looking to buy one for my own C-Line 👍 Thanks and keep up the camping videos, I really enjoy them 🙂
Thanks that’s greatly appreciated. It’s a standard Brompton rack, not the lightest but strong and reliable
The new G-line which has 20" wheels will come in Small, Medium, and Large.
Yes I’m aware, I have to say it might be a good bike but it’s not something that that tempts me, the T line on the other hand
You know I wonder if the fasteners on these are metric, SAE, or Whitworth?
I’ll have to check that out
Offroad 16-inch tires exist. I'd finally worn my Burley trailer tires down to where they must have been paper thin, and found a pair of tires in a local bike shop, semi-knobby, like you'd find on a mountain bike these days. And they only cost me $15 each. Now, if I get a Brompton A-line which I'm seriously considering, I might take the stupid "bald" tires off of it and put 'em on my trailer and put the semi-knobbies on the Brompton, or I might put Schwalbe Marathons on the Brompton and donate the "bald" tires to my local bike clinic.
Not seen those , they sound like a good option 👍
I like to use a product called "slime" in my bike tubes. It essentially self-heals most punctures. So that's a possibility also if you can get it. It's kind of yukky when you eventually need to change out the tube, but it's a small matter to clean up the inside of the tire. It does add some weight though if you're a weight fanatic.
Yes I’m aware of slime and may go down that route as I have with my ebike
Hopefully you've found a permanent fix. I've no real experience of fixing leaks on camper conversions but have had a fair bit on boats and houses. What I've found is that sometimes the fix isn't long lasting. Ageing of the sealant plus expansion and contraction and in the case of boats, movement. I discovered that non-setting mastics worked far better. Glad you haven't had to try getting the window out! Do you think the shape of the glass and the shape of the van were far enough out to cause the gaps? Maybe the professionals put pressure on the glass to squash it harder against the sealer?
I hear what you’re saying, I’ve been looking closely at van windows since the leak and it’s obvious lots of have had remedial work done. I don’t imagine we’ll ever really know what the cause was. I wouldn’t know what to do differently next time
Does the kit used for packing around the bike get damaged? It looks quite vulnerable to movement and potential abuse.
I’ve not had any issues nor have I herd of anyone doing so. Obviously anything remotely fragile would be packed in the front carry on bag
Great video again i know whos doing my windows on next van 😂 My door window leaked in the same place all i did was put clear CT1 sealant around the top been fine for the last 5 years since
Great video terry bromptons now vans call your self a professional
Thanks, Brompton Bikepacking is still very much my passion but this van is becoming all consuming!
Excellent Video👌👌👌 Thank you very, very much ! Greetings from Switzerland 🇨🇭
Thanks that’s very much appreciated
It always looks easy when you look on UA-cam Terry. The problem is getting the window out without breaking it. Unless you can seal from outside. But how long will that last. Like everything they never give you any extra to do the job bare minimum
I very much know what you’re saying about people making it look easy, not sure I fall into that category. We’ve tried a couple of fixes so hoping not to have to take m out, we will find out tomorrow!
I didn't expect that. Strange it leaked as I'm sure you used plenty of sealant. It may be possible to seal it in situ but my hunch is to fix it properly you'd have to remove it and try again with more sealant. I wonder if you could soften the glue with a heat gun, low setting and keep it moving? Then remove the window, clean off any sealant and have another go. I remember when I fitted a sun roof to a car back in the 80's I took a deep breath when slicing into the roof panel. I'm sure you'll find a solution, you seem like a practical chap. Good luck.
Hi Colin, you may well be right about having to take it out but we’ve tried a couple of things and are waiting for everything to cure before testing it🤞
HI , where did you buy the packs of Celotex from ?
Thanks for asking , I got them in Wicks
@@terrysallbikes Thanks had a quick look cant find them do you have a link to them please
Hi Terry I want to purchase a rack for my C-line Brompton but am unsure of the best option to go for. Would you mind doing a review of the rack and Easy-wheels on your bike to see if they'd be a good option for me? Many thanks and keep up the videos 👍 Mark
Hi Mark, not sure when it will be but it’s a video I’m gonna make 👍
@@terrysallbikes thanks Terry. Much appreciated 👍
That sounds like a nice project. We've thought about getting one several times but always ruled it out as we really only want to run one vehicle, plus I don't like driving that much. I've seen a lot of converted vans from the really poor to ones that have been first class. One, converted from a builders van (VW) to a really luxury campervan. He works as a car sprayer so had access to all the kit needed. Thanks for the video, looking forward to seeing how it goes.
Thanks Colin, if my other half’s plans work out ours will be first class! Not sure my skill level is up to it though but we’ll soon find out

Very useful! I have watched the videos which Brilliant Bikes do which are also very helpful, but one thing they didn't show was turning the cylinder bit over, though I'd read that you could do that. I'm just fitting a Brooks B67 onto my Brompton, having removed it from one of the other 2 bikes I have, one which I don't ride so much. I actually feel sad removing it but can't afford to buy a 3rd Brooks!
I know where you’re coming from, I have a cambium and a B17 on different bikes, swap them around depending what I’m doing
@@terrysallbikes yes - I can see that this brilliant pentaclip enables you to do that easily!
I was considering these tires for my MTB. I ride roads, streets, bike paths, and hardpack gravel/dirt mostly. I was looking for something with good puncture protection and low rolling resistance. Conti's Contact Urban comes in a lot of sizes too.
Yes they’re going on my hybrid when needed
Fantastic job 👍
Thanks, the wheel is still going strong and hasn’t needed any adjustment
Quite the inspiration. Thanks for sharing.
That’s very much appreciated, cheers
Such a helpful video thank you. The Topeak saddlebag, tent etc. You use is normally what weight? What is the maximum weight on the seat post ? Here’s what I estimate: Brompton lists weight limits for the front carrier block and the rear rack, 22# each max, but not the seatpost that I have found. The maximum weight on any bike is usually 242 pounds. So if the front bag is loaded at 22 pounds max, the rider plus the TOPEAK bag can only be 220 pounds max - meaning I’ve got a lot of weight to use before I use your method!
Thanks, to be honest I’ve never weighed anything that I put on the bike. Nor have I ever had a problem that I could attribute to an issue with weight. The Topeak bag works very well for me, I don’t really notice it’s there when riding
My wife would have loved the fireworks! Once again your trip proves you don't have to go far to have a great adventure. Luckily you had a dry night so a bivvy bag worked well. I still think I prefer a tent but like the speed and simplicity of a bivvy. Thanks for sharing your trip.
Yes a tent will be my first choice most of the time, but it’s good to have the option of the bivvy now, really enjoyed it 👍
Must be a great bike if you are wearing Rims out ...... You must enjoy it a lot .... going into depth about it so much ...... I have one and i love them
I’ve had many bikes, this was made to rule them all👍🚴♂️
Excellent idea if you're around sea air. Lighter, stronger is always positive.
Couldn’t agree more
Loved the beach fireworks 👍
Not as much as I did👍
Steel frame would defo need a good wash near sand!!
Yes think it will need more than one clean to find all the sand
Another awesome Brompton bike-packing video. Thanks for sharing Terry.
That’s very kind of you to say, much appreciated
Thank you. As always interesting to follow your adventures RayC
That’s much appreciated, thanks👍🚴♂️
Cool video Terry, I haven’t been there for 30 odd years
Thanks Andrew, sleeping on the beach took me back 30+ years also
Great video. I always take my trangia as it's so peaceful. I've cycled the pier to pier from Weston to Clevedon then yatton. Bit busier coming out of Weston than i thought it would be but it was ok on the Brompton. Either this week or in 2 weeks i'm planning to camp near brean but on a campsite. looking forward to seeing the sea and watching the sun set 🙂
Sounds good hope you get a better sunset than I did
Great adventure lovely spot to camp. Got to love the simplicity of a trangia and bivi. Glad the weather was kind to. Thanks for taking the time to film. All the best Pete 🚴
Thanks Pete I really enjoyed it, not been enough of these little adventures this year
Frankly i wouldnt care even if i got punctures every other week with the contact urbans, they are so easy to seat and unseat from the rim that changing them is a joy, i will never destroy my fingertips trying to mess about with the nasty metal bead on the marathon pluses
I hear you, got that T-shirt
Thanks for this video. Can I ask what the weight of the contents of the saddlepack are and how wobbly it gets when riding? I'm considering the Topeak 15l for my Brompton, too.
Never weighed it, but it’s always been very solid, don’t notice it’s there
Hi hello Mr Terry, may I have your great guidance please. Currently I am using 52t and whenever I uphill I need to dismount and push all the way up. And I did not even use any highest gear ever. I been using the gear 3 or max is gear 4. My question is, is 44t chainring or 39t best? Some say 39t will be very slow and your feet will spinning like hamster on the wheel. How about 44t like yours? Would it be fast and easy paddle. Or is very slow?
You sound just like me when I had my first Bromine. I m sure you’d find a 44t makes the bike much better for you, I’ve just gone down to 40 and it is great for me
@@terrysallbikes That is why I very confuse on should I change to 44t or straight away down to 39t. I read almost over thousands of comments written by so many viewer. Many said they change from 50t down to 44t but regretted and again down to 39t.
@@terrysallbikes But 40t is the speed became very very slow?
@@snowy2875 not for me, I still don’t use 6th gear often and I still have to push on very steep hills but the bike is much more fun to ride, I average around 10mph when touring with a loaded bike
@@terrysallbikes Yeah exactly that is me, I very often need to dismount from my bicycle and push all the way up to hill. And I also did not use any highest gear. Mostly stick to the lowest gear or second lowest gear for sight seeing or touring around the city.
Brilliant mate. Very informative.👍
Thanks, hope you found it useful
Hi, Terry. Thank you for sharing your experience with the Continental Contact Urban tires - very much appreciated since you've had a very good amount of experience with them over many miles. I worry about feral youth finding me as a lone disabled female.
I can understand that it’s not unique to females to feel that way,. The way I look at it is that the kind of people we want to avoid aren’t likely to wondering around the countryside in the night , very title of interest to them there
You mentioned everywhere except wild camping in Wales
Same as England as far as the legal situation goes and I’m not aware of any areas there where it’s legal
Good advice Terry. I worry about the dreaded ticks.
Yes, I’m aware of them, pleased to say never had one on me 🤞
Love the good reminder of helpful books on warding offnwerewolves and vampires :)
Thanks, do know of a good one?
I'm not an expert but I'd guess not being noticed is the first aim. Along these lines I think bright coloured tents or 'blingy' bikes and bright lights are best avoided. I've seen a video account of a wild camper who had a dog walker stop and chat. They told the camper they knew someone was nearby when they smelt bacon cooking.🤭 Well done Terry, I hope it encourages more to try it; You planned camp looks in a lovely spot. Thanks for the video.
Thanks Colin looking forward to camping there soon
I am not been camping for awhile, I need too the problem is time now 😢. Thanks for encouraging. I will look for the info, plz let me know
