This is an excellent tyre. Great puncture protection, low rolling resistance, lighter than alternatives, cheaper than alternatives and more durable than alternatives. Really happy with mine.
Just completed 1,000 trouble-free miles on these tyres on my Brompton. Last 500 miles were in France and included gravel tracks, rough towpaths, and woodland trails which were almost impassable. Highly recommended.
thx for sharing. I am thinking about to get a Brompton for my GF, but I'm not sure, I prefer regular bikes for myself. How does it ride uphill? What's the better option (I've read there is a 2 gear, 3, 4, 6 and 12 gear Brompthon) for a very hilly and full of climbs place like mine?
Same conclusions here - 2 years and 5000km+ in use, zero flats and nearly no visible wear. It’s a bit tricky on loss ground but that’s what you should expect from a nearly slick one. Greetings to the UK
Hi, Terry. Thank you for sharing your experience with the Continental Contact Urban tires - very much appreciated since you've had a very good amount of experience with them over many miles. Great channel - liked and subscribed. I just became a new Brompton owner last week and am every excited about using it for touring. I also found your Facebook group. It's an excellent group and thank you for that, too. Cheers!
I was considering these tires for my MTB. I ride roads, streets, bike paths, and hardpack gravel/dirt mostly. I was looking for something with good puncture protection and low rolling resistance. Conti's Contact Urban comes in a lot of sizes too.
I switched to Cont Urbans last year. Have been good, although I recently had a rear wheel puncture on it. But that was a slow puncture, probably caused by hedge trimmings in February. Very easy to change tubes, as struggled before with the Brompton tyres and schb's.
mine and my daughters bromptons have these must be 2 years plus . did the cinder path whitby to Scarborough mine so ok off road.. used all year round. low rolling resistance and smother ride and superior grip in the wet. when on sale i bought extra ones cannot see either of us changing.
Frankly i wouldnt care even if i got punctures every other week with the contact urbans, they are so easy to seat and unseat from the rim that changing them is a joy, i will never destroy my fingertips trying to mess about with the nasty metal bead on the marathon pluses
It's a fantastic tire. I agree. By the looks of your set, the sidewalls are not wearing evenly with your centre tread. The tyre loves a good lean into a corner on tarmac at speed, even on the wet. Don't do it on wet pavement tiles tho, they are still considered a fairly slick tyre. Good job!
Thanks for the review. How does the grip compare on wet roads and manhole covers compared to the marathons or marathon plus? I’m thinking of changing from marathon plus to these.
I completely agree with you. I have also been using them for two years and have never had flat. I commute 38 km round trip on my bro. In my case, rear tyre lasts about 1800 km to 2000 km and front tyre around twice that. How long are the lives of your tyres?
@@terrysallbikes these are tires in size 29 and 55 mm wide. Two years without a puncture and they still look like new, without the slightest scratch. I use them for road riding, although they drive well on sand and even on rocks. And they are simple, not like the SCHWALBEs I had with problem. No tire run-out on DT rims. They are fast, recently on Saturday on a distance of 8 km I kept a speed of about 40 km/h on an MTB bike, overtaking road bikes;> Great tire and the next one will also be Conti Urban but maybe 47 mm / regards

Yes lots of people in agreement

It’s good to know I’m not alone in my opinions 👍
Thanks I totally agree

Thanks, not had anyone disagree as yet, it’s rare to have such agreement

Your comment is very much appreciated, the Brompton is a great bike for touring welcome to the group
@@terrysallbikes Thank you!
Good to see you back!
Thanks that’s appreciated
Hello Terry,
Thanks for the update, two years with no punctures is very good, looks like these really are a tire to consider.
Take care.
Paul,,
Thanks Psul
Thanks Paul

Yes they’re going on my hybrid when needed

Yes I forgot to mention how relatively easy they are to fit, thanks
Forgot to say, I went for the folding tyre version which are lighter but maybe less durable on the side walls?

Me neither they’ve been great
Great to see you back Terry. I want to switch to these for the weight-saving, so I need to get in more mileage and wear out my Marathon's. Cheers!
Thanks, I still have my old Marathons, I thought I might fit them in the winter but never felt the need
Thank you Terry, helped me make my decision to switch to the conti’s.
Don’t think you’ll regret it, recently ordered my second set.
Superb, thanks! After I get some more use out of my stock Marathons I'm switching to these!
I’ve certainly not regretted it, just ordered 2 replacements, still not had a flat!
so little wear is crazy especially on a smaller wheel bike (way more stress on the tyre as there's more rotations per mile :D )
I know!

I hear you, got that T-shirt
What pressure do you use for Continental Contact Urban tyre? My is the wire version. Thanks.
Hi, I use 100PSI sometimes a little more works well for me

Thanks and thanks for the information I’ll try that

I can’t honestly say it’s a lot better but it’s certainly no worse
@@terrysallbikes Thanks for the reply! That’s useful to know. I’m hopefully swapping over to them this weekend.
I’m pleased I did👍

Not changed them as yet, but as I said I don’t record all my mileage so can’t really answer that question
You guys have link where to buy this tires for the states?
Surprised it’s an issue they’re such a big company in the tyre world, I think brilliant bikes will ship to USA if can’t get them there
What tire size do you ride?
I ride a Brompton bike, so 16”
So glad my P-Line came with these instead of the Schwalbe Ones
Wasn’t aware they were fitting them on new bikes
@@terrysallbikes Yeah! I believe supply was short of the Schwalbe at the time :)
Very impressive 👍🏅🤩🚴
It’s the most impressive tyre I’ve had👍
Are wire bead tyres hard to fit?
These aren’t, Schwalbe Marathons are, so I guess it depends on the tyre
Great set of tyres but could have shown the rear tyres too haha
I swap the tyres around from time to time so very similar wear 👍
Nastojaszcze pędzidło hehe
If you say so!

me with my 2 months continental and allready having a flat being convinced that the continental was bad
In my second set now only ever had one flat in close to 3 years. That I can assure you wasn’t my experience prior to these tyres
