    Oddly, the one scene in the store reminds me of the months after the US entered WW2. German Uboats were laying off of the East coast, sinking ships in Toroedo Alley, using boardwalk amusement parks and postcards to identify where they were in comparison to shipping centers, and sinking our ships. Town governments hadn't wanted to lose revenue from tourists so they wouldn't shut the lights off at night.

    What I think would be good for a remake of the strangers would be getting to know the strangers and their story and why they are killing people like who are they like? Thomas mentioned is it a dad and two daughters is a group of friends? That would be a good story The Strangers Origin?

    I see this as a result of the gov endlessly screwing over own citizens and at same time going after their Rights and trying to replace them with illegals for multiple treasonous corrupt purposes. Anyone who reads this comment can’t rationally defend what they’re doing to our country and not tell me they’re not corrupt. You think our founding fathers would allow what’s happening now to occur? Not a chance. It doesn’t have to be a civil war or even be violent. If Americans all would stand up the people in charge of every institution would be forced to give up power and walk away to be replaced by public servants but neither of those two things will happen. We at least need to try constantly to find common ground before any shots are fired. Although it’ll be hard when we conservatives (or pro American constitutional Republic patriots) are being backed into a corner and at same time being told we are the entitled ones while the fundamentals of our country are being stripped down and society is in decay. It’s not conservatives who are constantly going after 2nd Amendment and free speech. It’s not conservatives who are purposely orchestrating an invasion on our border that is letting in people who want to do attacks on our country. Biden needs to stop with the “what’s the point of the 2A when u need fighter jets to beat us”….that’s only stoking the flames plus makes no sense cause 85+% of ex military are conservative so most of those weapons would be in our possession. Haven’t watched it yet but from seeing previews and hearing people talk the movie itself doesn’t make sense cause it seems 95% of the country isn’t even in the war? It’s only two or four states vs the gov? I know not all people fight in a civil war and could be multiple factions but doesn’t make sense that those factions wouldn’t side with each other even if they don’t like each other cause they both hate the gov more. Also the president wouldn’t be in the whitehouse with a faction closing in. One attempted attack on the outskirts of DC and they’d move the president to one of the many mountain bunkers that they built with our money that we ourselves won’t have access to if an attack happens or nuclear war. Continuity of Gov….what’s the point of keeping them alive if all the citizens are gone, they should be the first to go since they would most likely be the cause of such an attack. Them not knowing that we can just block the filtration system into the bunker 😂.

    In almost all endeavors for fame & recognition, there will moments in which you can trade your soul for "progress" towards your Earthly desires. Only the righteous can survive these moments with their souls fully intact. These moments are not easily navigated without spiritual guidance. There was no mention of God in this movie that I can recall. I think that says a lot about the reality of that world

    of course any inspiration drawn by Thomas Mann's 'Death in Venice' is out of the question? the connections are obvious: venice, a middle-aged man, a young person, premonitions of death (like in the beginning of the novel...) and the death of the middle-aged man. and i like the sex scene. why implying? why so puritan? the director wants to show the need and the urgency of re-establishibing human contact and intimacy between the couple, after the distance caused by grief. plus: eros as opposed to thanatos as the two sides of the same coin...

      @ThorogoodFilms 3 дні тому

      Ah yes, but Genesis 3:15 is very explicit that the promised serpent-crusher is the seed of the woman. And it is a bizarre detail because, as you say, women don't have seed! But I believe it points to the fact that the Messiah was always to be miraculously born of a woman ie. the virgin birth. Theologically, it's important that a human man wasn't involved in the conception of Christ.

    The bible is full of sacrifices demanded by god himself.

    • @ThorogoodFilms
      @ThorogoodFilms 3 дні тому

      And they were all pointing to his own sacrifice. Hebrews 10... 4 It is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins. 5 Therefore, when Christ came into the world, he said: “Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body you prepared for me; 6 with burnt offerings and sin offerings you were not pleased. 7 Then I said, ‘Here I am-it is written about me in the scroll- I have come to do your will, my God.’” 8 First he said, “Sacrifices and offerings, burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not desire, nor were you pleased with them”-though they were offered in accordance with the law. 9 Then he said, “Here I am, I have come to do your will.” He sets aside the first to establish the second. 10 And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. 11 Day after day every priest stands and performs his religious duties; again and again he offers the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. 12 But when this priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God, 13 and since that time he waits for his enemies to be made his footstool. 14 For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.

    @ 7:44 My first thought was the idiom of a man seeing the world thru rose colored glosses... meaning A biased or idealized viewpoint where flaws and challenges to their viewpoint are ignored; often viewing themselves to be correct regardless of the reality around them. Such a simplified or abstracted perspective without accountability, self introspection, and biased veiw of those around them makes everything look justifiable, ok... ' Im the good guy because they do not fit my viewpoint'. I mean, to stand over a mass grave and kill in cold blood...
