Final testing of a Multivox MX-201 tape delay that I’ve had in for repair. Final 2-3 minutes is no input, just feedback manipulation. If you have old synthesizers, drum machines, tape delays, hi-fi amps, or other interesting electronics that need repair, contact me at hwsthl.com

Delayed Destruction

Sound piece created entirely with tape field recordings and pedals. The video isn't supposed to show the creation of the audio, it's just a nice visual placeholder with the equipment I did use in making this piece.
Modular Synth In-Progress Ep. 3

This is a live performance I did for one of my studio classes. It involves tape loops, a tape delay, and field recordings being played back from a cassette deck, in addition to the modular rack. Some of the sound also came from a mobile app called S.A.M.M.I, which is basically a grid-based sequencer, which has its own basic filter and delay functions.

No new modules this week, but I got to spend some time with another rack. Hopefully the result is entertaining. Let me know your suggestions for what modules I should add! I'm trying to build an ambient/drone system with lots of dark, watery and growling noises. Here's some vague version of what I'm envisioning for the system: www.modulargrid.net/e/racks/view/847161 This will change, of course....

I plan on making videos like this every week or so, showing a patch that I've been working on, with whatever is in my rack. Hopefully people will follow these and they will get more interesting as I add more modules and get more complexity to the patches. Let me know your suggestions for what modules I should add! Just a fun timelapse video showing the assembly of Erica Synths' DIY Output II Module. Get one for youself here: goo.gl/Xb1KwF What module should I build next? I've got a Mutable Instruments Elements, a borrowed Qu-Bit Nebulae, and now this output module. If you've got just too many modules laying around, feel free to send them to me. lol I ordered just the PCB and panel from Erica Synths, then...

Hopefully this was a good balance between an info/tutorial style video and just a entertaining documentation of a project. Let me know what you think! The DIY output video is coming soon as well, so make sure to subscribe. Since Eurorack power is the topic of the day, I must leave a link to mylarmelodies’ vid on how to plug in a Eurorack module correctly. Please watch it: ua-cam.com/video/zQ24g...

Just messing around trying to get something interesting. This system (which isn't mine) doesn't have a VCA or sequencer which was a fun challenge that made me work more with modulation and effects instead of leaning on sequences.

Didn’t say this in the video, but double and triple check your solder joints! Use a multimeter to test continuity if you are unsure, and use magnification if you can. Here's a condensed text version if you don't want to sit through the whole video: docs.google.com/document/d/1LyNhuZHmpUGp02B4Ra5rUPMFA_zJnd788om9KQ7HWcM/edit?usp=drivesdk Here are the relevant resources mentioned in the video: Mo...

The video is from a 16mm InfoVision film called Flame, scanned in by Shaun Dobbie. I would highly recommend his channel, as he's doing a lot of the same stuff I am. The original can be found here: ua-cam.com/video/sBE_Obu1hZU/v-deo.html

❤❤❤
Hi I'm Martin I'm having problems with my 1710 not recording and not rewarding
Do you also have a Leica I? Id love to see you disassemble it too since mine has some issues :P
I have one, it's fun...can it be modded to do more than one note play? great video!!
Hey Hans. Saw an old comment where you mentioned the oil you use, but what is your procedure you follow for cleaning the escapement before applying the new lubricant? Have you done a solvent bath like you mentioned, and what would you use in that case? Thanks for putting this video together
Fantastic video, i have this same exact machine. Picked mine up at a thrift store for $30 five years ago and it works perfectly after some cleaning up. This machine is truly an unappreciated and overlooked gem with its built in tube amp.
Excellent video and performance. It goes to show these small toy keyboards have loads of potential when used with the right type of equipment i.e. reverb, chorus and other stunning effects brings out such a professional clear stunning sound especially when motor track recorded. I’m a pure hobbyist of music, play keyboard/piano, sing and I create multi track demos including my own versions of different pop songs.
Dude!!! This is the most brave (in my opinion) breakdown video, and super cool! I have one of these and love to tinker with things like this but have been scared with little resources out there like this. Thank You! My question is, having a iiic, can you take the top part off only so that I can lube my sticky shutter?
Thanks for making this!
I will probably never own a a leica, but I find these videos so fascinating
Do you repair cameras to order? How can I contact you? Leica Iii 1936
This is not 12v feed by the look of your coil.
This video helped me fix a iiic, slow escapement was sticking. Thanks!!
Hay bro. I want to learn the camera reparing. Tech me
my iiif's slow shutters are also sticky. from 1/10 to 1/15 and my 1/20 isn't working. I wonder if this would still be fixable?
Great video. A lot of shots and work!
looks so intimidating but I want to try 😅
Shit, I forgot to mark the shutter dial hahah... hopefully just setting it around bulb will be ok
Awesome Video
Thanks for this video! I just bought a IIIC that I know needs at least a CLA. Given the cost of the camera and the cost of service I think I will do it myself. Can you tell me what solvent you recommend for cleaning and would an ultrasonic cleaner be a good idea? Also, I will need to replace the covering. Can you recommend a source for the covering? Thanks
Hey good morning or good afternoon whatever the case maybe my issue is that I have 17:30 DSS
Okay again I have this 1730 DSS atty
Que maestro. Llego a desarmar una Leica, cuando la vuelvo a armar me queda una Holga. Y me sobran piezas que no se donde van.
With the slow time escape, should you not soak the assembly in a cleaning solution, similar to what you'd do with watch parts when doing a rebuild on a watch? This is before re-lubricating. Also, speaking of lubrication, what do you recommend? edit: damn, I spoke to soon lol, a minute after I posted this, you mention it in the video. Sorry!
I don't wish to complain but do you realise that virtually everything you did, your hands covered the view, so we couldn't see what you're doing. Please position your camera differently or point to what you're removing or putting back. In addition, you went out of focus. Turn the autofocus off and use the manual setting. Thank you.
Very poor audio recording......Can"t even hear his voice.....!
I replaced the capacitor per your instructions. I even used the same capacitor, and now the speed is perfect again. Thanks again for taking the time and effort to post this informative video.
Great video! I have the original 1710 that I have had since 1964 that I acquired at age 13. I have the exact same problem and ordered the same capacitor. Should be here tomorrow. Without your video, I may not have had the courage to tear into it. Thank you!
Excellent.👍
Jump up to overload? Please read your multimeters instruction manual.
Greetings Hans, appreciate this IIIF video-very informative and paced just right for fledgling repair buffs! 🤗
Nice! Your videos should be seen by more viewers. May I repost your channel without changing anything on the clean platform named Gan Jing World? Thank you!
Thank you for posting this video! Can I, by any chance, repost your channel on the Gan Jing World platform? Of course I will keep everything as is and also include your channel as source.
I have this same deck but the volume with an external source connected is really low
25:15 but there you just added oil and skipped the CLEANING part of the CLA right?
this is also confused me, is it enough?
Hi there, could you share eagle files if you have it? Couldn't find it, sorry for bothering you...
Respect!
Hans is a gift to us all; I really do not understand why he only has 500 subscribers. The beauty and simplicity of Oscar Barnack's design is discussed ad nauseum by so many "creators," yet captured here so skillfully. Comically, Hans reminds me of the character Syler from the TV show "Heroes." I would not attempt this CLA myself, but I am here because I am finally beginning to understand the iiif and iiig. It is clearly obvious why Leica kept selling this, even after the introduction of the M3. I do, however, want to find someone, perhaps it is Hans, that can clean my iiif's rangefinder so I don't have to get one of those "hi contrast" focusing filters. "This part is very tricky." That's code for just let anyone else but me repair this wonderful camera! Well done Hans!
I Love U!!!thaks
What camera and lens did you use to shoot this? Wonderful work, truly.
Do you recommend M6 TTL or MP?
How did you learn to repair leica ? Do you repair lens?
really enjoy this video. great job!!
Very interesting, thankyou !. I have a fed which is near identical, and badly needs a CLA the shutter runs veeerryy slow (but a fed isn't worth paying a professional camera repairer to do it).. I doubt I'm brave enough to attempt it but very interesting to see what's involved, maybe some day 😀
Vert interesting video about an under coated synth ! Thanks also to share the PT-10 sample pack !
Yo this is legit
Man this shit is next level, never change man
Hi, this is really good, where are you located? I Would like to see if you can help me with my Leica IIIb , is my grand parents leica but is very old and rusty , it works but needs some work for sure.
Great video !
This was exactly what I was after! Where did you source the belt? What oil did you settle on using yourself?
Thank you very much. A lot helpful in fixing my iiif. Subscribed !!
No lightseels? Thanks for your video
