    Another cool video, even though I'm a CD collector, I like to see what titles / bands you are into and have discovered. I remember the Salty Dog from the 90's, same time as two other great bands from that era, namely Tora Tora and XYZ ! On a 70's rock vein, have you heard / own any Esperanto Rock Orchestra ? their debut is one of my top albums and on the southern rock front, check out a band called Thunderhead (not the German metal band), these guys are from Oklahoma and are one of the few bands I've heard that have great drumming / guitars / melodies and Flute !! (not country rock style like Marshall Tucker). Keep up the good work 😊

      @MrShelf-Stacker 2 дні тому

      @luytondriman6236 I do like XYZ's Don Dokken-produced debut (unsurprisingly, it sounds a lot like Dokken). I used to own a Tora Tora CD many years ago but must have lost/sold/traded it at some point. Esperanto are an interesting band. I have their 3 records. It's been a while since I gave them a spin, so I'll definitely be digging them out again on your recommendation. That Thunderhead LP is great, with Mick Dagger (surely not his real name?) on vocals and flute. Eventually, I might get around to showing some of these records in one of my videos: all worthy of a wider audience. Cheers.

    I saw Atlantis Philharmonic a half a dozen times back in 73-74. They were a fantastic live band! Joe used to play organ (right hand), guitar (left hand), bass pedals and sing all at the same time. Truly astounding. Thanks for the positive review of the album

    • @MrShelf-Stacker
      @MrShelf-Stacker 2 дні тому

      @suspenso1313 Wow! I would have loved to see them live. With so much going on on the album, I half thought they might have been a studio-only project. Great to hear that they could reproduce their sound live.

      @@MrShelf-Stacker This is a copy of my review on Rate Your Music (sorry to be so long-winded.) Very Good, But They Were Magical In Concert I saw Atlantis Philharmonic half a dozen times back in 1973-75. We'd go to high schools, dance clubs and concert venues to see them, and even went to the Agora one cold December night to see them open for Rush. They were a FANTASTIC live band. It's difficult to imagine--Joe Difazio was an amazing keyboardist, in the Emerson-Wakeman-Argent vein, but what was astounding was what he did in addition. There were times when he would play keyboard with his right hand, electric guitar with his left, while singing, and playing bass pedals with his feet---all at the same time! And Royce Gibson was no slouch either, complementing Joe Difazio's amazing playing. They played a few covers, but mostly focused on originals, and their originals were stupendous! I recently found a set list that I'd written down from one of their shows in 1974: Atlantis Peer Gynt Suite Dust Witch The Battle America The Woodsman Spaceship Ride Deathman Atlas Visions The Night Creatures We AP fans were very excited when we found out they were releasing an album...but a little disappointed when it came out. The execution of the songs felt a little stiff. Only "The Woodsman" seemed to convey the magic they displayed live. I'd never heard two of the songs before (Fly The Light, and My Friend)) and honestly, I wasn't that impressed. "Atlas" was one of those songs that Joe did his one-man band thing on, and it breathed fire in concert. On the album, it's good, but a pale reflection of the live versions. The recent CD editions include a few live tracks, and there is still talk of Atlantis putting out a live album (fingers crossed) so I still have hope of reliving the magic that was Atlantis Philharmonic. At least I have the album to *kind of* remember.

    I got into Rosalie Cunningham when you showed her first album back in the day and had a lot of trouble getting hold of a copy but finally managed to. When the second one came out I couldn't get it at all and now the 3rd one came and I finally ordered 2 and 3 from her website (I didn't before because I no longer live in England and didn't want to pay the sometimes big import fees). The website said they wouldn't be sent until the new year because she's on tour but they came last week, so that was a nice early Christmas present! (and there were no fees this time).

      I'm glad I turned you on to some great music! RC's albums do have a habit of selling out pretty quickly, especially the limited coloured vinyl pressings. Import fees have become a real pain since Brexit, but for some artists it's worth the extra cost. Thanks for your support in 2024.

    Great video as ever..blah..blah..blah...I always keep a tally on albums I own that you discuss..four on this particular video (Squeeze, Rosalie Cunningham, New York Dolls, U2). I'm sure you get plenty of recommendations with each post..so here's mine for this one - Bobbie Dazzle "Fandabidozi" on Rise Above records...it's a heavier, glam rock Rosalie Cunningham and my album of the year for 2024..Merry Crimbo, all the best for 2025

If you like them check out Tonto’s Expanding Headband They’re similar and quite good! Man I’d love to find a half decent priced Soundgarden album! In the local RS they’re pushing $50! Great find! Another killer vid Sorry Ive been such a stranger just going thru some personal challenges but I’m back in the fold! Peace ✌️👽

      @@cosmicvinyl2937 Scary times indeed! Perhaps, if I surround myself with enough records they'll act like a kind of nuclear bunker in case things get too fucked up. I'm on the lookout for the second BullAngus LP. That one seems even harder to find on this side of the pond. I know Tonto's Expanding headband. I have their Zero Time LP. Didn't Stevie Wonder hear that record and get them to create some of the sounds on Innervisions? Hope you're putting your troubles behind you. Always appreciate your support. Cheers! ☮️

    Great Video. Love that Gypsy album! That Chameleons album is on my want list. That Bull Angus is great, as is their 2nd album "Free For All". I have that Salty Dog album on cassette. I love that Ozzy album and got an OG copy recently, did a video about finding a grail. Great month in records. Once again are tastes are aligned. Cheers

    Excellent video as ever, still can't believe you got the chameleons album for £3!!! I paid more than that for it back in 1986 on day of release. Also watched your awful covers video the other day, today's arrival in the post Grand Canyon ...I do love the cover...one other idea for a future video - artists with a large catalogue but I only own/ like one of their albums...mine being Frank Zappa's Hot rats. Keep 'em coming

      The financial hit is only temporary, and then you have a lifetime to enjoy your imported record. It used to be so much cheaper to ship stuff over from the US, but I try and explore every avenue at home before shelling out these days. Bull Angus eluded me over here, so I had no choice.

    Another nice video. Of the records you showed on this video, I have only the Jane's Addiction and Oasis albums on CD, and the Tom Petty on vinyl. Anyway, I thought you might be interested that I gave you a shout out in a video I just uploaded (only my 3rd ever) in an entry I made for a contest celebrating two years of youTube videos by TONYS LPSRUS. Loved the video, this should definitely be a regular feature. The sundowners is a great pick, I have all 3 of their albums, the debut being my personal favourite, beware though- its rarer than hen's teeth. Also chuckled when you featured Bobbie Dazzler from the cul, today Bobbie dazzle release their debut album which I'm waiting for from postie. Check that out if you haven't already done so (Rise Above label). Can't wait for the the cul video

      @@timrigby660 I'm guessing that if Bobbie Dazzle is coming out on Rise Above that there's not much Yacht Rock to their sound, not unless middle age is turning Lee Dorrian soft. I'll look out for the other Sundowners LPs. Who knows, I might get lucky and find the debut.

      @@MrShelf-Stacker They do crop up online occasionally, the third album was I think only available from the band themselves and is a bit of a departure from the first two efforts, quite stripped back and folk. The bobbie dazzle is more glam / funkish, ha ha definitely not yacht rock

    Lovely record that Harmony Grass. Most BB like record I've heard is Mark Eric - A Midsummer's Day Dream. Absolutely nails the Pet Sounds period. Wasn't familiar with the Sundowners and love The Coral so certainly peaks my interest. Cheers Nige

    Just recently subscribed to your channel and absolutely love it, and am working my way through all your videos. Although prog, psych and metal seems to be your main bag, how refreshing to see you diverge into other genres and not put down other styles and bands unlike some other channels do which I won't name here...oh... ok Sea of Tranquillity (which I really tire of when they slag punk, the Smiths etc.). Obviously people who tune into a VC channel have a broad range of likes/ dislikes...I'm not a big prog/ metal fan but don't see any need to shout about it. Love the shout outs for Doves, Kate Bush and Air who are personal favourites. One idea I would love to see is a cull video, instead of a "this is what I've bought", "this is what I'm getting rid off..."

      @timrigby660 Thanks for the positive comments. It's funny, I always thought I might be alienating potential viewers by having broad taste, but I guess I'm not alone in loving great music whatever pigeonhole it's been consigned to. Incidentally, you're not the first to request a cull video, so I'll add it to my 'to do' list. Thanks for the sub! ☮️
