- Continuing with my responses to the thread started by Dom @seekingathread here's a little known horn rock LP (with psychedelic leanings) by Loadstone.

Thanks for another Acid Archives Diaries entry. I like some horn rock, and have not heard Loadstone. - Chris
You might get something out of it. Definitely worth a listen.
I like horns, I'll give Flowerpot a listen.
I've seen this record around for sure, always wondered about it. Horn rock sounds about right. great video though, looking forward to more.
Worth picking up for 'Flowerpot'.
Haha, you very much summed up horn rock perfectly yet I'm still a fan of the sound. Most lps are very patchy but most have a few tracks that make it worthwhile, Loadstone being one of those. The vocals are usually the main stumbling block like you say. I bought a lot of them for cheap from the US when I got online in the 00s before you were able to listen to these things first but I don't regret buying them. If Loadstone were backing Bobby Darin in 68/69 then check out his lps from that period...superb. Great footage on YT of him performing Long Line Rider with his backing band getting very funky. Cheers Nigel
Must admit I'd jumped to conclusions about Bobby Darin's late 60s output. I'll have to give those LPs a listen. I have no problem with Horn Rock as a concept, just that it can be rigidly formulaic at times. When it pushes the boundaries a bit, it can deliver something pretty special though. I have a bunch of Horn Rock LPs that I rate pretty highly. Perhaps I'll review some of those sometime.
@@MrShelf-Stacker I'd highly recommend Born Walden Robert Cassotto and Commitment from 68 and 69. Big faves for me. Cheers Nige
@nigelcampag1290 Thanks for the tip. I'll check 'em out.
