I had the pleasure of exploring a 40 year old collection of Rare Mustangs I ran across. The 85 year old man was not only generous but full of great stories and even allowed me to make an offer on a Fastback. You don't want to miss this episode of Lost and Found Classics. There's a few really RARE Mustangs on the property we will explore towards the end of the video. I think you'll have a good t...

Bicentennial year! Very cool!
Pass at 69000
Can't build it for that.
Happy for you man. Bring it back and enjoy it.
Thank you!
Why would you load it like that and dent the hell out of your own fender I don’t get that that’s crazy
Every drum was locked up and the truck already has dings and dents. They didn't damage anything loading it.
How much they asking for the Buick riviera boat tail in the background?
It's probably already sold. A lot has been cleaned out in the last two weeks.
Imagine that thing with big fat tires under the back. Maybe keep the color and all the patina, with a high revving SBF..
Or better yet, a 2.3L Turbo motor out of a Thunderbird Turbo Coupe with a 5 speed and an 8.8 with rear discs.
@@LostandFoundClassics okay.. That's a little smarter.
@@zeeelander It'll fit a whole lot easier and will be lighter with the same power as a mild built small block :)
How do you search ? Online or american picker drive everywhere and stumble on..? How do you talk people into selling them if they refuse first ?
I've been doing this about 25 years now. There's a lot of ways to find good stuff. In this case, a friend of mine who knows I'm into old Ford Trucks contacted me to let me know someone was selling a collection of cars that had been tucked away for 40 plus years. You have to connect with people who are doing the same thing, especially salvage yards who run into stuff all the time. They need to know you and call you when they find stuff before they crush it. Additionally, Facebook, Craigslist, Swap Meets, Car Shows, Even UA-cam Videos can be helpful because people explore old salvage yards on youtube and share the info. But there's nothing like driving around and knocking on doors. The old fashioned way connecting with people who have cars in garages and back yards. Be sure to have a stack of cash on hand. Some people won't sell unless they see money in your hand and they know you are serious. Some people won't sell because you think they are going to low ball them so if you make a serious offer often they will take it.
Why.
It's a first generation Ford Mini Truck. It's not everyone's cup of tea, but I like it.
Congrats, great find. I’m sure you’re very excited, I’m excited for you. Good luck with the restoration.
Thank you! And thank you for watching. Be sure to subscribe for more fun finds like this.
What a shame.. awesome car. .. 67.. very rare..
It's cleaning up very nice!
@@LostandFoundClassics keep us posted, will wait for notification
Enjoyable commentary very good camera work as a long time motorcycle guy I started to fantasize converting. Enjoyed the post very much after this message I am going to subscribe. Please keep up the good vibes.
Hey there! Thanks for taking the time to comment and share your feedback. I appreciate the encouragement. It's great to have you as a subscriber. Be sure to check out the other videos on the channel. I have a few more swap meet style videos to edit and upload in the coming months. Additionally, check out the classic car finds here as well.
Nice truck, but 1000 points off for lowering the suspension 😂
There's a $15,000 road race performance chassis under the truck. It'll out perform most modern sports cars.
Sweeeet!
Thank you.
Nice do they got any 70 Chevelles
They had one but it sold before I got there. I did get it on film and will be posting a video like this one to youtube in the next week showing it.
My dad had one it was white
That's awesome!
My first vehicle was a 1974 Ford Courier purchased new in 1974. The Courier was built by Toyo Kogyo also builders of Mazda. That little truck got me through high school with no drama. Those little trucks were very rough riding and got good gas mileage. Taking the overload leaf out did help somewhat. The hood opened up backwards. I do miss it although i don't think i would fit in it anymore. Did i say it was tiny ?
Thanks for sharing the story. It's interesting how these old pieces of metal bring back memories. My mailman brought me a picture yesterday after seeing this one in my driveway. He too had a first gen courier as his first vehicle and wanted to show me the picture and tell me how it made him think of great memories. Thanks again for sharing, I always enjoy these stories. John
@@LostandFoundClassics You are most welcome. As a side my high school had grudge racing against other area high schools at Green Valley Raceway and that truck beat Toyotas , Datsuns and Chevy Luvs. I added an Offenheiser intake and a Hooker header. I removed the air pump and rejetted the zenith Stromberg carburetor. It ran a little better than stock. It would vapor lock in the Texas heat.
@@allanleeth2415 Those are good mods to consider. But I'm thinking more of a 2.3L Turbo out of an 88 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe
@@LostandFoundClassics Those were mods I made in the 70's. Good luck with your project.
Useless for anything
The truck has a $15,000 custom chassis under it for road racing. It'll outperform most modern sports cars on the track.
i learned to drive at age 9 in my dads '74 courier in 1979, fast forward to 1992 i owned the truck and it blew bottom end i left on side of freeway and it was impounded, never bothered getting it back and regret it today as it was what i learned on... nostalgia
Man, that's unfortunate. Thanks for sharing the story though. John
I sold my 68 Mustang Fastback with 289 in '82. I just recently went to a car show and saw my mustang after 42 years. It still had the same license plates. In 82 I bought a new Capri RS 5.0 out of the Mercury showroom and it's my daily driver for 42 years. I wasn't going to make that mistake again. Early this year I was offered $8k and just a few weeks ago I was offered $15k. I guess these Foxbody cars are very sought after cars.
Thank you for sharing that! Yes, the Fox Bodies are now starting to become collectors as well. If you jump over to the Summit Racing Equipment youtube channel and type in 1993 Cobra you'll see a video of the 1993 Fox Body Cobra I helped restore in my 20s. There's even a picture of me in the video doing the body work.
@@LostandFoundClassics Late Model Restoration (LMR) youtube channel did a beautiful restoration of a ASC McLaren Capri with Coyote swap! Fortunate Foxbody cars have repo parts to keep them going just like the classic Mustangs.
@@Twolife Those McLarens and Early Saleens are sweeet!!!!
There's a guy here in Tx that has 4 of them for sale as a package. 2 or 3 of them are complete I want to say.
Is it on Facebook Marketplace and what city?
@@LostandFoundClassics It's not on FB, they're in Waxahachie. I stumbled across them looking for some other classics in that area. They're on OfferUp 2500 for all 4.

@@LostandFoundClassics It's in Waxahachie, he wants 2500 for all 4. I've reached out to him and asked for his number. But the post is on OfferUp
Love it! Definitely need a rear end. That diff was see-thru😊
It needs a 2.3L Turbo and a 5 speed out of a Thunderbird Turbo Coupe with an 8.8 rear disc brake setup.
I'm so excited for you have fun building the car making it your dream car . There's a ton of parts available for this car . There's also another UA-camr who builds there car he can help you should you need help or advice
Thank you for the encouraging comment! I've had about 40 plus 60s Mustangs over the last 25 years and they are a joy. I'm actually a certified PPG painter, welder, fabricator, and restoration expert. The restoration process on this one wont be very difficult. The underside of the car is very rust free compared to other cars I've owned and the rear frame rails are like new. Once the front frame rails are repaired it won't take much to make it a driver again. Be sure to subscribe for more fun finds like this. I'm also about to upload a video of a 1965 GTO and a Gran Torino. Enjoy!
@@LostandFoundClassics My dream car is a Mustang Fastback aka Eleanor. When I first seen gone in 60 seconds I instaly fell in love with that car . To me that was the ultimate badass muscle car it didn't get no better the Eleanor. You said you were a certified PPG painter I have a 96 Ford Probe SE Hatchback a few years ago I paid a guy 10K to . Do a one of house of Kolors camelion Green, Purple and Blue paint job with heavy metal flake by Lil Daddy Roth on it . Unfortunately instead of giving me a 10K paint job it looks more like a $500 paint job. Sometime down the road I'd love to have it repainted
@@psementalist That's unfortunate to hear about the outcome of your paint job. The House of Kolor and Flake isn't cheap. They also require specific skills to apply and not every painter has those skills. I've not only sprayed house of Kolor but also sold it for a while. It's great stuff when used properly from start to finish and applied with correct PSI and pattern.
😊I drove these when they were new I worked for ford they road like a tank
That's awesome! I like the independent front suspension which was a change for Ford since the I-Beam was still being used on the larger trucks at the time.
Trash belongs in the trash .
Probably a predecessor to the ford ranger
Correct! The second generation courier received the first 2.3L engine and later became the Ranger. This is the first generation.
Basically a Mazda B-series
Sort of, the Courier has a 1.8 rather than the 1.6 the Mazda received and there are several other differences this specific year right before the second generation started.
Ahhhhh beautiful truck
Completely Agree!
What a prize.
@@Johnnycdrums Thank you!
Hope someone fixes the 69
Hopefully it'll be me one day.
Ok Why!! Maybe it's my age but not all older vehicles especially in the later seventies is worth saving!
It's a small truck that came factory with Mustang 2 independent front suspension. This is the first generation of Ford's "Mini Truck" and was built in Japan. It's a unique piece of history and an extremely rare color. I realize it's not everyone's cup of tea, but its a fun little parts getter for me and my shop.
I grew up working on my own cars in the late 60s and 70s! The late 70s to the late 80s was a waste land of exciting cars for me. Saying that I can see the excitement of restoring something that is rare and I haven’t felt that in a long time.
No. You are horribly wrong.
Again why!
Awsome find
Thank you!
I would love one of these but I'm in Pennsylvania so it's rsre to even see 90's economy vehicles
Yeah, I spent 12 years in Ohio before moving down south. You almost never see these up North or in the North East unless they are restored or rotten into the ground. This one is complete with 4 cylinder 5 speed manual, keys, and a title. It was a great find!
You need to call Dennis Collins . He lives in Wylie, Texas. He will give you top dollar for the cars
No thanks
I hope you can make a deal with him where you can help him get one of those on the road that is really sentimental for him and he can give you one of the others that you really want to restore. I know he has sentiment attachment but it hurts to see all these beautiful potential restorations going to total waste. Couple of good sales and he could have a nice steel builfing garage or pile barn to put them in. I'm glad you were able to save one and I'm glad you have a good new friend. Hopefully you can help each other make some dreams come true for one another.
It is my hope to help him out as much as I can. But he also lives very far from me.
That is both awesome and gracious of you as well not to mention the honorable thing to do. My favorite part about my car hobby is all the wonderful facts that I meet and that it gives me the ability to keep pushing myself because of my passion. Health is tough for me personally but this is my activity of choice and I'm so thankful for it everyday. Blessings on your endeavors and looking forward to seeing a wonderful transformation of the Mustang
@@rokkinroll Thank you

I would love to rescue the Mach 1 What state is this ?
That information is not being shared. But I live in Oklahoma.
Cool video. I always thought that all GT classic Mustangs came with Front Disk brakes, at least my 1966 A Code Mustang Fastback did.
Hi there, You are correct, all GT optioned cars came with disc brakes. This 67 is not a GT.
These cars are going to completly rot to crap with all sentamental feeling happening. It he really cared about them he would garage them. The man obviously needs money and when the time runs out on the money you just paid him for this 67 fastback is gone he will sell the 69 mach I And so get it. WHEN THEY SIT ON THE GROUND LIKE THAT THE ROT OUT COMPLETLY. BEST GET THEM UP ON BLOCKS BEFOR ITS TOO LATE. 71 FAST BACKS NOT AS COOL AS 60S AND 1970
Yeah sad huh For reals you are correct 💯
Actually, because of the climate these cars are in they are still very solid. This isn't in the rust belt or up north.
A true $150,000 restoration
I'm a certified PPG painter, welder, fabricator, and restoration expert. So fortunately, I don't have to pay a shop to have it done. It won't cost anywhere near that to restore.
That red fastback is pretty cool
Agreed!
Most of those mustangs will NEVER BE RESTORED. What a waste
We don't know that for sure. And as long as I know where they are they still have a chance in the future. 😉
Shit all I wanted to do is CRY seeing the neglect !
I totally understand the feeling.
Im happy 4U man good luck with it i think it might be a ford truck engine could be either the 351M or 400.
Thank you, It's definitely a 360 or 390 FE engine but it has a truck intake on it. The 351M and 400 are completely different animals.
Good score - but that car is pretty rough.
It's actually extremely solid from the firewall back with rust only on the driver and passenger floor pans.
Cool. Enjoy the build.
