    I drove one of those around running parts for a repair shop. It had a "Lima" 4 cylinder and standard gearbox. It was a screamer! What a find! 👍

    My first vehicle was a 1974 Ford Courier purchased new in 1974. The Courier was built by Toyo Kogyo also builders of Mazda. That little truck got me through high school with no drama. Those little trucks were very rough riding and got good gas mileage. Taking the overload leaf out did help somewhat. The hood opened up backwards. I do miss it although i don't think i would fit in it anymore. Did i say it was tiny ?

      Thanks for sharing the story. It's interesting how these old pieces of metal bring back memories.
      My mailman brought me a picture yesterday after seeing this one in my driveway.
      He too had a first gen courier as his first vehicle and wanted to show me the picture and tell me how it made him think of great memories.
      Thanks again for sharing, I always enjoy these stories.

      @@LostandFoundClassics You are most welcome. As a side my high school had grudge racing against other area high schools at Green Valley Raceway and that truck beat Toyotas , Datsuns and Chevy Luvs. I added an Offenheiser intake and a Hooker header. I removed the air pump and rejetted the zenith Stromberg carburetor. It ran a little better than stock. It would vapor lock in the Texas heat.

    How do you talk people into selling them if they refuse first ?

    • @LostandFoundClassics
      @LostandFoundClassics  Місяць тому

      I've been doing this about 25 years now. There's a lot of ways to find good stuff. In this case, a friend of mine who knows I'm into old Ford Trucks contacted me to let me know someone was selling a collection of cars that had been tucked away for 40 plus years.
      You have to connect with people who are doing the same thing, especially salvage yards who run into stuff all the time. They need to know you and call you when they find stuff before they crush it.
      Additionally, Facebook, Craigslist, Swap Meets, Car Shows, Even UA-cam Videos can be helpful because people explore old salvage yards on youtube and share the info.
      But there's nothing like driving around and knocking on doors. The old fashioned way connecting with people who have cars in garages and back yards.
      Be sure to have a stack of cash on hand. Some people won't sell unless they see money in your hand and they know you are serious.
      Some people won't sell because you think they are going to low ball them so if you make a serious offer often they will take it.
