I found tamed pigeons perform better in races and are more reliable and eager to fly back home.

I've lost 49 young birds to hawks so far. I bred 4 rounds this season, each round 40-50 birds. Half of 1st round gone to hawks, lost few from 2nd, 17 from 3rd round, now 4th round about 2 months old and started letting them out, already lost 3 in 2 days. Now I'm looking to ideas to save my a**

You shouldn't train YB in the evening when it's hot. There is zero benefit and only unnecessary stress on them in my opinion.

All of the above with emphasis on the ability to detect the magnetic grid of the earths surface using the pockets of magnetite that are present in their brain and at the base of their beaks..

I think it’s a magnetic sense for general direction and sight (landmarks, etc) where specifics are needed… like when approaching home.

I'm for all of the above. I believe they use all the suggested possibilities.
