Yeah, just a bit of rustiness is all. They'll snap out of it with more air time. Still waiting to see some Freaky business at the loft. Btw, love those small signs on the wall around the landing board..
I’m new to Pigeon’s. I’m about to start building my lioft. would you recommend grated floors or solid floors. I can build it either way. most of the local flyers around me suggested graded floors I live in south Louisiana where it’s very hot most of the year. Please give me your opinion?
In my honest opinion, the best is solid floors but it's more work, cleaning daily and dusting at least once per week. The birds stay healthier, especially with less breathing issues. That's what i did last year and this year with my Young Birds. In my breeders and old birds sections I have grated floors which allows me to only clean the floors every couple of weeks. If I was retired I would have solid floors in all sections but this way I can still manage. Hope it helps.
Thanks for the update brother. They are looking good they are a little rusty like mine but I know you’ll get them in shape. God bless and good luck with em brother.
HI SILVIO, I wouldn't push them just yet, they are still moulting. Try to get someone to get them straight in when they come home from training because it will learn them bad habits. Can I ask? are they white peas you are using. I knew a flyer who bought 1 ton of white peas, he went from premier prize winner to bottom of the sheet every week, in 1 season. GOOD LUCK WITH THEM MY FRIEND. 👍
You're right, I know. 5 miles after having done 15 to 18 should be ok but since they weren't flying for 5 weeks i can't push them hard. I do need to get them to obey better, they need a small diet! No, they have been on Verselaga Gerry which is light, same as u did last year, but now I have to mix some more barley to get them lean mean fighting machines! 😉 Thanks for watching and your comment 👍
@MaydisLoft A lot of flyers think that barley thins them down, it doesn't. It actually puts the weight on them. This is because it is starchy carbohydrates, Gerry + is also mainly carbohydrates. If you put them on 70 % breed and wean and 30 % Gerry + watch them lift. They have got internal fat through the carbohydrates. It is the protein content that needs to go up to create muscle. You also need protein for quality feathers. I hope I have been of some help to you. 👍
@kevinnorton7759 thanks Kevin, you make a great point. I have to get some high protein feed that I usually give after the races and give them a bit, to help regain the muscle back, thanks!
Hey Silvio, just watched the awards video from last year, getting that award was awesome sil,it came 12 months ago today.im really pleased about it sil.you have a young padone by the name of Steve, danza loft.i will give you my most sincere support sil
Nice update. Maybe try a different 5 mile spot. May be some hawks in that area breaking them up. Sometimes if I have trouble at a spot I’ll bump em out a mile or 2 further to get them past whatever they’re struggling with in that area. Sometimes it’s radio towers etc.
Didn't think of that, you're right! I felt like they were stuck. But they overcame it today. But if I see that happen again I'll try a different spot. Thanks buddy!
Good to see them doing well again and good time hanging out today.
Thanks! It's always nice to hangout, especially with a veteran, a mentor, and just a nice down to earth kind of guy like Joe Allocca!
@@MaydisLoft wish I could have hung out longer. I could have sat there all day but duty called with the kids.

They just need more flying time under their wings.
Yeah, they need to fly more to get back in shape for road training!
