One of my all time favorite trainer aircrafts. I wanted to design and build a RC version of this beautiful aircraft, but unfortunately never got around to it. Too many other projects fot in the way. Great jet, well designed by Cessna. John from Hayden, Idaho
HAPPY THANKSGIVING FRED. Thanks for the creation and production of all your videos. I’m thankful for the interesting videos you bring to us every week. Chris
Thanks - we are grateful for your participation - Jason and Greg need gratitude as well - Happy Thanksgiving!
99th Infantry Battalion (Separate) & the 474th Regimental Combat Team (RCT). I have two of each of these SSI shoulder sleeve insignia or patches. Two 99th & two 474th red spear point. I have to get the blue spearhead variant of the 474th RCT. My question is was it a variation or a manufacturers error? The 474th Infantry Regiment, which post war became the 74th Infantry Regimental Combat Team was an interesting unit made up of disbanded units & this is represented in the insignia. A red spearhead representing the First Special Service Force "Devil's Brigade" superimposed upon this red spearhead base was a blue viking longboat, representative of the 99th Bn. And lastly above the longboat near the top of the spear is a black scroll for the former members of the Ranger Battalions that were almost completely destroyed, 1st, 3rd & 4th Rangers.
VQ-1 was the A3 squadron at Whitney Island
I was a P-3C WST Avionics Technician. VP-9 80-83 and VP-1 85-89. Loved it! Deployed to Keflavik, Kadena, Misawa, and Adak.
blaa blaa blaa me me me bored
This plane was killed by the cheap MDAP supplies that flooded the west from the US…
Definitely not 'Nay-knee'. British engines were commonly named after rivers - Nene is pronounced 'knee-n'.
good to know thank you
Incredible history 🎉
Fokker has to be pronounced as Focker like in mother F#cker.
Thank you for telling me about this aircraft!
I don't see any comment from VP-22. Guess I better speak up. Flew as radio operator from '62-'64 and probably communicated with PatrickO6678 during my 2 deployments to Iwakuni, May-November 1962 and November '63-May '64. Speed key on N31469 Crew 1. Great guys at base radio. Used to visit them after flights. We had all 12 crews designated Alpha Crews, received the Arleigh Burke Award, and all Crew 1 members earned their gold Air Crew wings, along with many others. Great people. Wikipedia has the date wrong when VP-22 transitioned to the P3A, stating November 1964, but I was in the test crew during the summer of 1964 when we started transitioning. Got out October 1964.
Great video, and it was nice to see a brief mention of the original DC-8 design, someone really needs to do a video about that, however short it would probably be.
Between the T-1 and T-4, there was the T-2, like the very similar Anglo-French Jaguar, started out as an advanced supersonic trying with a secondary strike role. Though the European aircraft really became primarily a strike aircraft. The T-2 was the first Asian supersonic aircraft, the single seat F-1 being a single seat strike aircraft. This was replaced by the Japanese adaptation of the F-16, the F-2.
What a shame some twat in a green twat hat, you could at least stand out of shot. Ap51 with your ass blocking the beauty... Jeeeez
Thanks for the little bit of a history lesson. It was essential for the Japanese to move into the modern world and be able to contribute to their self defense.
I swear that the wing of the T2 was from the P-51
The Dowding system won the Battle of Britain. That and the lack of German strategic planning.
I worked in the simulators at Rye Canyon in the mid 1980s and had the pleasure of meeting and working (just a bit) with Bob Loschke. A brilliant man and one helluva an engineer.
My Father Flew a PB2Y in WW11 do you know of a company that would sell models to build
try Amazon or eBay under the aircraft type
Coronado PB-2Y activated in Sputh Pacific WW11 in your Musem in Palm Springs that I visited in the early 60's My father was an Aviator on this WW11 mission
Two of those S-2Ts from Cal Fire saved our homes in California 2 years ago. 🙏
Can someone pay to go for a ride in that ?
sadly no - the aircraft is a static display
What an engaging speaker. I learned so much from this talk. God bless you Mr. Mack and thank you for helping to save the world.
Nice!!! Another reason to go again to Palm Springs and visit the Air Museum. Who woulda expected such a great museum to be in Palm Springs??
Been there great museum.
I was asked ,how could you jump out of a perfectly good airplane ,apparently they never flew on one , never seen so many parts moving in so many different directions
I worked on the RA5C from 1969 to 1971. Squadron size was 210+ men for 5 aircraft. The reason the Vigilante was retired was mainly maintenance requirements. It required around 150 to 200 manhours per flight hour and rarely completed a mission without something going down. Because of the service it provided for the navy as a recon bird, giving information that nothing short of the SR71 could provide it was keep is service until 1979. The finial thing that caused the retirement was lack of aircraft. The F14 was in the same size range so space on the deck was not the over riding consideration. A large part of the weight increase was due to the addition of the hump in the top of the fuselage, which was added with the A5B, for fuel and some electronics. I have seen the same aircraft by bureau number as an A5A, RA5C early and RA5C late So airframes were converted. the RA5C late could have been and RA5D because it had new engines and other alteration to the airframe. Something interesting is the aircraft did not have ailerons, It used spoiler/deflector mounted in the wings in their place, and as air brakes. The aircraft had pilot head up display, inertial navigation, fly by wire, terrain avoidance, all flying tail, wing leading edge blown air, passive electronics, Side looking radar capable of photo quality, Cameras, dule mode radar and over 2500LBS of titanium that included the wing leading edges. It was very advanced for 1958.
This So Called,,, "Communicator",,, What a Obnoxious,,, Ignorant,,, "Arrogant",,, Azz Hole,,,, He's Totally Clueless,,,
Douglas talked about making a civilian passenger version of the mixmaster that would have been the DC-8, but never did and as we all know the DC-8 designation went to their first passenger Jet.
An example of a land based trainer converted to carrier operations is the BAE Hawk being heavily modified by McDonnell Douglas into the T45 Goshawk for the USNavy.
Yep that's a good one -= thanks!
Also the lockheed T2V seastar that is from the T-33
Possible future series: reconnaissance and float planes
What about the T-6, T-28 and 34?
We've done them.
The hat folds conveniently. Good choice for a topic. This is an interesting trainer.
They didn’t bury all the F-111s, they put several of them in Australian museums all throughout the country, including one near me at Base Williams in Melbourne. Wedge tail is named after the Australian wedge tail eagle the largest eagle in the world (dwarfs the bald eagle sorry 😂)
Hot Dog with wings. Wasn't it the front of the plane that would snap off right where the props were because of vibration.
Living history. The Belle is alive and well. But her crew is long gone. Beautiful restoration work!
My father flew the A-3 2cruises in SE Asia then transfered to the A-6
Don’t worry if you butchered it. Have you noticed how we Italians butcher English ? Far worse 😊
Mustang hell yeah
Stop with the silly bullshit and stick with aircraft facts.
