Love warbird Wednesday
One little known fact is that Lady Bird Johnson (President’s wife) owned a huge amount of stock in Bell Textron, Inc., the manufacturer of the UH-1, OH-58, AH-1 during the Vietnam War. I’m a retired Army Aviator, having flown and instructed in the Huey and Kiowa, the reason for selecting Bell products over other programs was well known.
The armed UH-1 armed Gunships were known as Bushrangers in Aussie service.
that's a cool name
This should have seen service.
So was this before the Cobra?
yes
@@PalmSpringsAirMuseum i was under they impression they were developed and tested almost at the same time with the cobra winning out.
@@sheilaolfieway1885 This aircraft was the first in development and then the Cobra came shortly thereafter as the US Army hedged their bets on a workable aircraft.
@@PalmSpringsAirMuseum ah okay thank you for the information
