I spoke with an Australian pilot, at an Australian air show a number of years ago. He was not especially impressed with the model, but said that it was essentially deployed differently to the US aircraft, which to his mind, kept it potentially viable. He was looking forward to an upgrade I should add.

It would genuinely surprise me if the dual control system was responsible for the cost over run. A fly-by-wire aircraft, needs only the physical hardware of the controls to be duplicated, with the software/firmware, handling all other duties.

There is no emphasis on the 'T' whatsoever. It is more arro-space-ial. Recalling the very considerable influence of the French in aviation, the very names of aircraft components are French. Fuselage, Empennage, Monocoque.etc, even though you have the bragging rights for the invention, and feet is how flight is measured most often (confusingly)
