I'm Sheila! An artist, archivist, video creator, and lover of books and stationery. Here my goal is to help you live a slow, cozy, and intentional life. I started my channel in late 2020 as a way to express myself after creative (and life) burnout with the intention to share my life as a mixed race person and increase online representation for folks who identify as Asian American and/or mixed race, and also create a safe & welcoming space for folks who don't feel like they belong. I'd love for you to join my little corner of the internet!
Fall Reading Vlog 🍂📚 self-care & slowing down with cozy books & video games
Hello to November! After the hustle and bustle of the past few months, this new month is inviting us to pause during this in-between time that is fall and the holiday season. In this video I have a slow weekend at home, chat about some books, including a mini reading vlog for "One Dark Window" by Rachel Gillig, and share some cozy Nintendo Switch games I've been playing recently. Hope this can bring some cozy comfort to your week!

I just started this book today too!
Oo yay! I’m enjoying it so far 😊
I didn't get to start it last night but will start it today! :D
Yay!!
Definitely a late November/early December girl!
we are on the same page! :)
I am a librarian with a Masters degree… not from the US.. do I have a chance if I want to work as an archivst ??
Thank you for posting such lovely, peace-inducing content. We treasure this.
so glad I can add some comfort and peace to your week because we sure need it!!
I’m a holidays are for late November kind of gal. I like November as a transitional month. Both cozy and fall. Preparing for winter. I like atmospheric films and nostalgic movies
yess, this all sounds lovely to me!
Great vlog! 🤩 thanks! I hope you feel better soon 💕
thank you, Georgina! <3
what a lovely vlog! i am definitely a late november/ early December holiday season person! to go directly from halloween to xmas is too much😂 i used to be a YA reader but now that I am not a young adult I find the writing style doesn’t appeal to me as much as adult fiction does! wishing you a wonderful month full of self care <3
YES the contrast from Halloween to Christmas is a bit harsh so let's have some quiet in between right? Lol
@ yes please hahaha i totally agree❤️
Nice song choice. My favorite songnovan is by Donovan, which is Sunshine Superman.
🎉🎉🎉
😊
Witchlings by Claribel Ortega is a middle grade read but honestly one of my fav this season! So recommend. It's both wholesome, vibey, and has some adventure! absolutely recommend if you haven't read it already. Really gives fall atmosphere
oh! I think I might have seen this book when I was out and about. Sounds cute and I will add it to my TBR :)
I’m getting ready to jump in! I picked up an internship, I have a year left in my PhD, and I’m so done with teaching!!
woo hoo! best of luck to you!
We have a collection for our archive, so we archive the archive and other surrounding archives 😂
Love that! :)
I'm too easily influenced so I make it a policy to avoid horror books😂
probably a smooth move! lol
Your new makeup is really pretty! ❤
aw, thank you! :)
I loved the earrings & the makeup! I loved the eyeshadow pallet you bought! 🔮🌜🍂
thanks so much, Kim! :)
I love your earrings and I think the orange eye shadow looks great 😌
thank you!!
I love your Halloween mug!
thank you! it's so cozy hehe
I really enjoyed Aveline Jones and it actually creeped me out some lol
RIGHT?! same lol
Cute vlog! Loved seeing the fair!
aw thanks Seppy! :)
Oh wow. I had no idea that you're in PA, I am too! Love your videos. They've been very helpful to me as a high school student interested in archivism :)
hello fellow PA friend! glad my videos are helpful :)
What’s the name of this place?
Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire!
Such good October days
missin' em!!
What would be a realistic approach to making a career change to become an archivist? I have a bachelor's in communications and 6 years of office work/ 4 years in media production. I love history and recently got into loose reading as a hobby and I'm looking for a more meaningful and interesting career path. Thanks!
I was just trying to find some videos about archives as I'm interested in going into them, and this was the first video to come up. Was like, "Oh, cute! A DIML vlog!" and THEN I SAW THE TRAVEL MUG AND WAS LIKE 'YES PERFECT THIS IS WHERE I'M SUPPOSED TO BE'
aww yay!! welcome :)
Is this your first legit video? If so, the editing and production value are really good for an intro vlog.
why thank you! I've made videos in the past on an old channel where I shared outfits and lifestyle content so I do have a small portfolio before this haha
Hi is there anyway you would be willing to do an interview for a college project?
Loved my states ren fair. The mead was amazing.
yum! I love the mulled wine myself.
😊❤
:)
Where’s your cute little witch hat from? 😊
it's from Red Wyvern Studios :) Looks like they have an Etsy store but isn't selling anything at the moment. They may travel around to different events to sell their hats! facebook.com/redwyvernstudio/
i love your visit to ren fair! i wish we got one here too... ahh.. so witchy so cute
I could certainly live there all year round! :)
Love your purple cardigan!! Alot. May I ask where you got it?
thank you! It's actually a Taylor Swift cardigan for her Speak Now album...I got it last year :)
Yay!!! Another Sheila Joy vlog!
woo hoo!!
I am reading night circus now and it's really good
such a great read!
Archiving sounds really cool. I like organizing things and am interested in art and history (mainly art lol). I always thought this career was intimidating because I could never figure out what degree is needed. I'm fixing to graduate from community college and need to figure out what to do for the rest of my life. This video was very helpful
so glad to hear it was helpful to you! I didn't know you could become an archivist until I was in my second or third year of college so there's definitely not much info out there.
I've been considering this job and being a librarian someday, even though I'm currently taking education as my bachelor's degree. Do you think it's okay?🥲
If you choose to get a master's degree I don't think your bachelor's degree would matter too much, especially if you're in education which is similar to a history degree!
Just the most lovely and cosy vlog! Looks like you had a great time with your friend. Thank you for letting me live my US small town dream vicariously through you! 🧡 I have rewitched on my autumn tbr as well. I believe Lucy has a 3 book deal and is currently writing her 2nd novel but I don't know if it's a series or just a stand alone x
Thanks for being here, friend! Oh that’s lovely news. I’d love another book in the series but if not I’ll take another stand alone too hehe
I'm loving the ambiance without background music! Talking/answering questions over it sounds nice, too. I feel like it adds to the vibe a lot!! Makes me feel more like I'm there, too :)
Caramel is 100% year round. Besides, how do you get caramel apples (a truly autumnal treat) without the caramel?
Right?! What was this blasphemy?! 😂
"It's quite a drive for me to get there... 45 minutes..." Me driving 3 hours to the nearest Trader Joe's once a month 👀 I about fell out of my seat. Haha! Rural western living at it's finest! We are the biggest town for hundreds of miles. One smaller town about 11 miles away from us and then about 45 minutes to the next tiny town (of less than 100 people). Next town near our size or larger is over 2 hours away. Haha!
Wow! That certainly puts my suburban life into perspective! 🤣
Thanks for showing us these fun places, I like your trips! 😊
Thank you for being here! 🧡
