Hi and welcome to my Crusty Restorations channel . .
I love restoring something old and crusty, back into something nice and reused, save it going to landfill . .
All done in a tiny shed, and I mean tiny, so no huge projects just yet .
Early days, still learning tools, techniques and skills to restore various items.
Thank you all for watching, I appreciate every view, comment and subscriber.
More projects to come. . Your all amazing people . .

Perfect 1950's Wesco Oil Gun Restoration
In this video, i'm restoring this 1954 Wesco Oil Can Gun, made in Birmingham, UK.
That's 70 years to the year, covered in old oil and gunk.
Time to make it shine once more.
There was traces of possibly the original sticker. I've spent some time trying to locate the original design, but to no avail, only modern stickers. If anyone has images of this, would be great.
It was clearly a shade of red, burgundy, so stayed with this on the powder coating. And a nice two tone black.
A fair bit of prepping, sanding, polishing and re-assembly.
Came out pretty nice.
Sincerely, thanks for watching, I appreciate the views and comments. Feel free to like & subscribe, if not, thats also cool. . . It all helps us smaller channels

Antique Super Rusty Billhook Knife Restoration
Переглядів 14 тис.2 місяці тому
Sorry its been so long, but nice to be back and tinkering . . In this video, i'm restoring this neglected Billhook Garden knife/cleaver/machete. Its been sitting around for sometime, pretty rusty, thick and heavy. As you can see from the pumpkin chop, not much of an edge. Certainly a few 'learning curves' on this one, failed wood, failed welds and dicey polishing near miss. Spent some time usin...

Rusty vintage 1930s Rain King restoration
Переглядів 11 тис.9 місяців тому
Hi all, thanks for stopping by and watching this latest restoration video of these 1930s 'Cooper Stewart' Rain King Sprinklers... Been sat outside for some years, so much so, I cracked the shaft for the hose nozzle. Sadly i don't have a lathe, so have had to patch it with metal cold weld. But seems to have worked. Retained the true original colours using powder coat, which is always fun. As eve...
Rusty & Tarnished Antique Salter Pocket Scale Restoration - 100+ years old?
Переглядів 1,1 тис.10 місяців тому
Hi everyone . . Thanks for stopping by and watching this latest restoration video of some Vintage Salter Pocket Scales. The pocket balance was first created in 1770 by Richard Salter in the UK. I've tried researching, but there's so many different models. Unsure of the exact age of this, but its easily over 80 years old, maybe older This item had years of tarnish, with very thin brass so had to...

Old and Rusty Stor Metal Drawer Cabinet Restoration
Very, very good !!! ( Brazil )
Ah, amazing Brazil, thanks for watching 👍👍
Never seen a lathe chuck on a drill before. Very smart. Quick question: what is the purpose of off gassing the handle? Excellent job.
Hi, mini lathe chuck, great for little jobs. And small sheds like mine. outgassing helps get unwanted trapped materials out of metals before powder coating. Such as air, gasses, oils, water etc. Otherwise can result in a bubbly/pinhole horrible paint finish. Hope that helps, thanks for watching. 👍
The difference is night and day! Looks beautiful and it works, what not to like, great resto👍🏻

That's lovely to hear, always appreciated. Thanks for watching 👍
Phenomenal restore! That looks amazing. 10/10 even without the label. Hope you have luck finding one.
@oldguyknots ahh, the search continues. I didn't just want to slap on a modern one for the sake of it. Thanks for watching, much appreciated 👍 👍

¡Que belleza! De museo.
Where do you get tiny O ring gaskets? I’m trying to restore an old Eagle and need a gasket. The little tiny ones. How the heck do I find out what size I need? Thx.
@jgeyer66 hey, there was no tiny O ring gaskets, just the large leather washer. . But I've got small rubber O rings off amazon before.. worth a look 👍
Great job. Too bad you couldn't find the decal to go back on it.
@@christopherprince3250 thanks the search will continue 👍
Marvelous job you did restoring the old gun. It looks much better and it works like a charm too. Excellent work as usual.
Many thanks ,turned out better than expected if I were honest.. thanks for watching 👍👍
Perfect my friend
Thanks for watching, much appreciated 👍
Where the label?
@johnvaluk1401 yeah ,I did mention in the description, still looking for the original design.. and not just a modern unmatching one.. the search continues, thanks for watching 👍
Well done.
Many thanks, quite pleased with the result.. 👍

A really lovely restoration. Thanks for sharing.
@rosemorrison7075 thanks for watching , always appreciate comments ♥️👍
Very Nice! I collect oilers mostly Eagle made in the USA. I wish I could help ya out with the label. You did a fantastic job bringing that one back! Perfect restoration indeed!
@Uwannawatch Perfect if I found the label, but defo a 9 out of 10. Came out better than I was hoping really. I've gor a few others in the pile I'll have to see if the others are usa. Thanks for watching 👍👍

Awesome job! I’m just about to start work on a similar sprinkler for my channel and UA-cam recommended your video - how does it know?!😂 I’ve got my eye on the same powder coating system that you use - is it something you would recommend, particularly for someone with no previous experience? Many thanks.
@DistinctlyAverageRepairs hi, i was very dubious about that powder coating system. But after a phone call to the suppliers and a rest assured return if not happy, I made the leap. It's a nice bit of kit, it's taken a few goes to get the air pressure right, but coating is lots of fun. Compared to priming, painting, lacquering and waiting days between each.drop me a dm on tik tok, I'll pass her details in. Good luck with it.👍👍
@@CrustyRestorations Many thanks for your reply. I have actually had some contact with the company and have been impressed with what I’ve seen/heard but it’s nice to get a view from someone who is actually using it. As you say, being able to do all the painting in one go is a major benefit. I do enjoy spraying/air brushing but it can be such a time-consuming faff! 😂
@DistinctlyAverageRepairs ah cool, yeah it's a game changer. Picked up a £10 oven off Ebay, bit of hassle with hanging things in small oven, but all worth it. Looking forward to seeing that sprinkler👍
@@CrustyRestorations I did suggest to my partner just using the oven in the kitchen but apparently that won’t be happening! Sprinkler is coming on nicely - spent the afternoon removing paint and polishing brass so just filling/painting to go. 👍
@@DistinctlyAverageRepairs yup def no no, need a separate oven for sure..
it looks sick keep up the good work!!
Thanks! Will do!
Боро 👍👍👍👍👍
After lot of work you turned it very nice. It is sharp as a razor. Good work. And "water" were funny 🙂👏🏻👍🏻
Thanks for watching, the welding botches drove me nuts, but will keep trying.. much appreciated 👍👍
@@CrustyRestorations It is not so easy as it seems to weld those holes. Whose never try it would never know 🙂 Good luck to your next work. 👍🏻
Blade was not well welded. Sorry, but If you, I could not be satisfied. The problem is the blade, any others job well done.
Thanks, still learning welding, thanks for watching👍
Wrapping the wire around the cleaver and the electrode in this way probably doesn't do anything and doesn't speed up rust removal. It would be enough to connect it at one point, if it is different, please write as I am not an expert in these matters. You restored the cleaver very nicely. I like it very much.👍
@@rustyyazo thanks interesting... thought best be safe. Thanks for watching 👍
Nice job, Phil!
Great restoration. Is it possible to list the tools and processes? Many thanks.
Hi Thanks for watching, I will certainly look into it for the odd unknown tools. thanks
It was necessary to preserve the holes of the gram weights, perhaps one day I would be able to find them
They can always be redrilled if I find some ,thanks for watching 👍
Should have sandblasted the paint off, would have gone down to the bare metal
Was on a very limited budget, hopefully next time..thanks for watching 👍
I miss the yellow paint. Otherwise really nice looking.
The yellow was nice, but thought the natural look. Thanks for watching 👍
Why didn't you just put the radiator right way round and let the sludge drain out by itself FIRST before attaching the hose?
Dam that's Awsome mate
Can you please tell what kind of paste you use to clean the metal with the brush? Thanks
Hi, just paint remover, I did include it in the video I think 👍
Nice work!
Many thanks, the small items are always the most tricky👍
Hella dope results, @CrustyRestorations!
no sound or is it me?
Beautiful place
What a great job! 🙂
Thank you very much, glad you enjoyed👍
@@CrustyRestorations I really did, I'm a big fan. You're so inspiring! 😊 And... although I'm not experienced in restoring at all, I'd love one very special piece of my family treasure to come back to life again without destroying it. 😊
Great work> I think the large rectangle used to hold 0.0, 0.2 and 0.5 gram pieces of brass with one corner turned up, for mor accurate measudements. The smaller rectangle used to hold a pair of tweezers for picking up these small pieces. My set has many of these pieces so that any combination of small weight could be made. Hope this helps.
Thanks for the info!👍👍 much appreciated
That looks great after renovation 👏👏
Many thanks 👍
Super jest ten cały zraszacz odrestaurowany pozdrawiam serdecznie 👍👍👍👍
Many thanks 👍
You hit the hose swivel the wrong way...that's what broke it
It has a reverse screw.. research is key👍👍
😊❤🎉🎉🚿🚿🚿🚿🤩😁💯🤗⭐
Many thanks 👍❤️
Great job beautiful work
Thanks chap, much appreciated 👍
Nice job, I did one on my channel a while ago, it fought me all the way due to corrosion. 👍🏻
Thanks for watching, I did watch your videos a few times for tips. For the life of me, I couldn't undo the central shaft. But it spun freely, but did make painting tricky👍👍
@@CrustyRestorations they're interesting things. Mine takes pride of place in the shed, buried under far too many projects! 😁
Very nice! Very labor intensive restoration but it turned out great. I wondered how you would make the repair - good old JB Weld to the rescue. Regards, Bill.
Thanks for watching, gutted when it broke. If I had a lathe could have drilled it out, made a whole new piece etc.. Certainly an item for the future 👍👍
Great job mate 👏👍
Thanks for watching, much appreciated 👍
That looks great. Nice and difficult restoration. I like the result. I would like to have a springler like this one on my garden through summer days (cause I hate plastics). One thing... I would highlight those signs on the body... And your bench grinder sounds like from another solar system (on my headphones) 🙂👍
Thanks, definitely outlast any plastic rubbish.. I did think about highlighting the letters, maybe on the next project👍👍
I'm a little jealous...I've been trying to buy one off a guy at the flea market for my wife's garden. The guy just won't come off his price. Came out fantastic!
Many thanks, annoying when people won't budge on the price.. maybe ebay, few on there I think👍👍
Outstanding work 👍👍
Many thanks, small items seem trickier than large lumps👍
