All Steel Metal Drawer Cabinet Restoration. First attempt at restoring this 30+ year old unit. . .
Thank you all for watching, I appreciate the time you have taken to watch my video. More projects to come. . Your all amazing people . .
Wow that was an amazing restoration! You took something that was rusted, crusted and disgusted and made it beautiful. Excellent work!
Thank you very much!
WOW! From scrap to treasure. Another beautiful restoration.
Glad you enjoyed it
Great excuse to invest in a sand blaster. Nice restoration, thanks for sharing. Cheers
And have since invested in a sand blaster, hoping for no more wire wheels👍
I thought it was me. No volume either.
Audio came in at 8:11

Now we know what that strange noise was coming from your garden neighbour. Great job
Gorgeous 😊
Thank you! 😊
Great outcome. Wonderfully done!!!
Precioso y elegante. Excelente trabajo. Lo quiero!!!!
Many thanks, mid project now hopefully more to follow👍
WOW!!! GREAT WORK!!!
YOUR METAL DRAWER CABINET LOOKS FANTASTIC!!!
💖💖💖💖💖
Great job on refinishing this cabinet....but man, my back was killing me from just watching this... Wow...
I am amazed at your talent and sill to take that yucky, rusty thing and make it look so new and quite beautiful . I would be proud to put this to good use.
Great work. I’d love a cabinet like that!
Well done and kept work area clean all the process through. Two suggestions put nice instrumental music on the background to make the video more enjoyable and use clear glass protection for your eyes. ❤
Fantastic job, congratulations!!!
That old cabinet is what my office called our "paper index". It held differently printed 8X10 forms routinely used to create filed documents. It's a real hoot to see another old paper index in the world. Our office had that cabinet since the 1960s I'm sure & no doubt much earlier. Ours was a dull sullen green color.
Excellent job. Love these cabinets with shallow drawers. Used to keep stationery items in them in an office I used to work in
Keep up the great work Phil. Cheers Stuart 🇦🇺
That was alot a work, but it turned out really nice....great job..🥰
Boss, I think you did a fantastic job on that cabinet.👍👍 The only thing I think you should have done differently is all that sanding and stripping. I would have taken it somewhere to have it sandblasted. But hay, that's just me. 👍👍👍👍👍 It is still a beautiful job !!
Thin steel plate warps when sandblasting (because of the heat)
Great job, look's OK friend have a nice day !!!. 👍👍
I LOVE THIS PIECE...GREAT JOB!!!
Excellent, you have more patience than me.
My torn rotator cuff was flaring up just watching all that sanding…nice finish
A powerful angle grinder with a large steel brush would speed up the work by half. In addition, there are abrasive sponges for removing paint and rust for this tool.
In general, you have done a great job and got a good result. I like your video.
With 180 or 240 grit flap discs to finish. You put loads of effort into this resto and deserve our respect for that.

Beautiful Restoration and finish. There was NO VOLUME ❕
Yes, my first attempt, lessons learned for next reno jobs 😃
Great make over
Amazing 🤩 job
That was a lot of stripping, sanding, scrubbing and panting. Nice job
Great work. Bravo....💛❤
Thanks ✌️
Un gran trabajo de restauración. Le doy un 10 👌👍🇪🇸🌿
Thanks for watching,more to come👍
💜💜💜
Awesome!
Many thanks, more to come 👍
Oh i would love to own one of these. 👍🏼💙
I may do another, it might go for sale if interested. Probably in spring now though, getting cold and dark out :)
Que laburo!. Felicitaciones, quedó muy bien. Ar✌🏼
Nice final result, but can't help thinking a drip and strip or media blast followed by powder coat would have saved a lot of time and effort.
BTW, if you want a better finish on those brass nuts, put the wet & dry on a hard flat surface, instead of a cloth.
Nice job!
Good effort. Well done!!
Great job using available tools. My comment on others' suggestions: Know you're sandblast shop. I've had auto parts ruined by knuckleheads. Blasting thinner gauges of sheet metal takes a light touch, otherwise it warps. As for powder coating: around my locale you're talking fairly expensive. This cabinet is worthy of a Rustoleum rebuild.
Have since invested in a sand blaster and powder coater👍
Looks better than new😛😊☺️😀👏🏼👍🏼🍀🍀🍀❤️🛐🇺🇸
Podrías averlo quemado a fuego indirecto.
Hi Phil, good job
Painted the character right out.
You should have sandblast it,that would save you alot
I've now invested in such a tool👍
Gonna be mad real, skipped straight to the end.
My first attempt, its quite long lol.. got some others coming, will trim down the editing👍
Sandblasting was a great invention
I've asked santa for one for christmas...😃
My trigger finger was getting tired just from watching you hand spray. I like the two tone. It’s hard to tell but does the wire brushing leave scratches? Or does the enamel fill that in? If you do a lot of these, you might want to put a spray gun on your wishlist. I’m not sure how long you left the stripper on for but next time leave it on longer than the 15 minutes and maybe use plastic to keep it wet. Then if you take the solid stuff off you can use the stripper and steel wool and brushes to get the remaining paint off. The after wash with steel wool knock off the rest.
Yes, my first attempt, some lessons learned for the next attempts. 2 coats or primer pretty much hid any scratches. Spray gun is on the shopping list.. 👍
Use a sandblaster. It is easier and no weird chemicals.
I've asked santa for one for christmas 😃
Good luck!
Great restoration!!!!! I am a bit curious as to why the gaps between the top 3 drawers were there, but not for the rest of the drawers. Rather than using harsh toxic paint stripper, you can use citrus based paint stripper. It's nontoxic, it won't burn your skin, and it smells like oranges.
I used to think the same thing up until I actually looked up how citric acid is made. Has literally nothing to do with citrus fruit when used in cleaning or chemical agents. Even most of the "food grade" stuff is quite terrifying.
Why not use a large wire wheel instead of a brush? Never mine it came in at 26:00 minutes. Been watching ball the sanding. Lots if work. No blasting available in your area?
Cabinet turned out really great. Makes me want to build something similar in wood.
Blasting next time of the budget allows :)
Nice makeover, but check to see if your in focus, it was pretty blurry. Also, you could do a voice over so you don't get a copyright strike.
Vai ficar lindo este arquivo gratidão 😂🎉
Thanks for watching👍
I want that piece!
Isto não é um restauro. É uma renovação. Como renovação está um ótimo trabalho. De resto, foi assassinada mais uma antiguidade...
Some dialog would have made it much more pleasant to view.
Yes, my first attempt, lessons learned for next reno jobs 😃
Great work! No sound.
Should have sandblasted the paint off, would have gone down to the bare metal
Was on a very limited budget, hopefully next time..thanks for watching 👍
Ficou muito bom!
Many thanks, more to come 👍
Was that a bucket of soapy water you were washing off the chemical stripper with?
Yes, and some degreaser. Have since invested in a sand blaster👍
We need sound and explain along with what you are doing
Yes, my first attempt, lessons learned for next reno jobs 😃
What a fantastic finish. What did you pay for that?
Sorry late reply, it was in the shed for 30 years, but there so expensive to buy now 😳👍
hay que hacerle un monumento al taladro
That drill just keeps going 👍
Thanks for watching, more to come 👍
Give me the sandblaster
Have since invested in a sandblaster👍🤣
Como nuevo!
Why no volume?
I had the radio on, i think youtube don't allow music, copyright issue. Lesson learned for future projects
👏👏👏👏👏🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💯
LG Thomas
Much appreciated, early days, but learning about editing etc. Thanks for watching 👍
Good job but the video goes on and on....had to skip forward through the mindless repetitive sequences. ..
no sound or is it me?
OMG! I sat here and watched you attempt three different methods, of your inpatient ass try to strip this thing, just to watch you finally bring out the grinder, which is the way you should have started, all the while thinking, PLEASE don't put more paint on it! Then BY GOD, that's exactly what you did! You didn't restore that, you made a joke outta the entire process!
In the real world one would take it in to have it sandblasted and powdercoated. I'd prefer an old school color over the black/gray but whatever.
Should be taken another color, get them look more modern
Disappointed no voice😮 it could be wonderful ASMR video 😢
No sound???
Yes, i had the radio on. Music copyright issues otherwise. Lesson learned, headphones next time...
Where is the sound??
I had the radio on, i think youtube don't allow music, copyright issues etc. Lesson learned for future projects...
I think this restoration could have been done differently with more advance methods and the painting method was awful.
Little sound and what’s there is annoying and sped up. Didn’t finish watching.
Yes, i had the radio on. I think YT would have issues with copyright etc. My first attempt, lesson learned for next time on the speeding
