Just checking on you Miss Ursula to see how you were dealing with the heat, but evidently you are getting our rain. All we've had is heat, heat, and more heat with no rain. I put basil and nasturtiums in with my squash and so far it seems to have helped because I've actually gotten some squash before the borers could get to them. Stay dry!!

I'm in Florida and me and my neighbor were counting ourselves lucky because we both started gardening and getting our cucumbers from the backyard. If this is not a wake up call I don't know what is.

This is crazy !!! Oh my goodness it is just going to get worse before it gets better. And we wonder why so many people are constantly getting sick🤒🤒😷🤧Folks better start paying attention and start growing some of their food. If they have a small patio, balcony, small porch or a window seal in their house they can certainly GROW SOMETHING...........These FOOD RECALLS are showing up almost DAILY..smh😧 Thanks for sharing this Sista Ursula. Be Blessed and Keep Showing Folks how to GROW THEIR OWN FOOD.

Awwww…I hate to hear that. That dreaded vine borer gets me every year too. I’m so frustrated trying. I said I wasn’t going to grow squash anymore... But I love yellow squash and really would love to eat my own. 😞

I planted squash first time & so far so good. may do 2nd planting in Aug and next year will wait to plant them in August in hopes to avoid the dreaded mom..I understand planting during this timeframe helps

Ursula thanks for the update, sorry to hear it’s not going as hoped. MI Gardener just did a video to plant squash later like Aug after the squash bug leaves. I may try that if they get mine too, then freeze it and dehydrate some too.

I saw that, too. Also, some creators talked about planting blue hubbard squash as a trap crop. I just planted seeds today. Once I see that they germinate, I will feel a little comfortable with sowing the other squash seeds.

I removed my last 3 today. Like you I did not see the nymph or eggs, just notice the fruit kept frizzing out then came out next day a different plant was leaning over. ..I knew then I had been struck. Then the next day day other plant I saw then frass. I just pulled them out and trashed them. Dropped 4 more zuc seeds today. Keep up posted.

I wish you well it didn’t work for me. Another thing you need to know about that product is that if you want to use it again next year it needs to be stored in a cool place because if it’s in a hot place, it loses the potent in it, and it will not work, so it has to be stored in a place in a cool place I didn’t do that this year I could’ve but I didn’t. I have a lot going on. We had some of that storm damage and they were checking the leaves, but they went straight for the steam and I didn’t notice till it was too late. I’ve already had to pullout three plants looks like they’re gonna give me some zucchinis, but I have so much failure in that store storage room, hot or garage. It’s hot. It has to be a cool place because if not, you’ll lose the pot Medicine it will it will you will go through the process and it may not work because it was stored in a hot place.

Hey @deltorres, thanks so much for the info, I will keep the bottle inside so I can use it again next year. It cost me 2 much to let it go bad, thanks again. I pray everything goes well with your plants and you get an abundance of zucchinis. So sorry to hear you experienced storm damage, Texas has been getting hit with storms. Stay safe and enjoy your day.
