I thought Mendoza being the first human flood master Chief comes across was extremely haunting

just listened to the last three of these short stories you covered not realising until you just mentioned it that Ian is 'The' Ian, the Architect himself! The man behind the scenes that is often mentioned but rarely seen or heard! You're a natural at this Ian, I hope to hear you on more shows in the future.

This might be a VERY hot take but of all the halo novels games and movies these three are my favorite following rion forge. The character arc and evolution is just... i cant describe it properly but *chefs kiss* i really do want more about rion forge and the whole crew (i have a feeling something special is coming for spark) but i really love the forge saga i re-read these three more than any others! Kelly gay really knows how to portray characters on a human emotional level rather than militaristic damn i love these books!!!!!!!!

I love the art they made for this. The fact that 343 has an SOS elite model on hand has me hoping they’ll add them in the game as spawnable allies in Forge.

I think it would be interesting to see how society heals after what the Servants of Abiding Truth do to Paxopolis. I feel like it would give humans such as Karl's and Zeb's parents cause to want the Sangheili members gone. Would be cool if they explored the potential conflicts there. It would not surprise me if Karl's parents blame Kasha for their son's death, likely believing she did not do enough to protect him, and would probably try to argue she cares more for the sangheili students as the only students killed were humans I think.

30:00 Totally disagree. What Forward Until Dawn got right was they built it up and then thrust us into the action. That's when we get Master Chief. He doesn't have his helmet off, because we are in the midst of a war! Chief in the game seemed vulnerable without his helmet, he is flawed, but he is stoic and presses forward still. This is character. Plus it was great tongue in cheek nod to the fans when they were on the Pelican. This show padded us with a a lot of uninteresting plotlines. This should have started off with fleet battles, less useless side drama talk (I don't want to know about Kwan), actual battle tactics, actual sacrifice. It had to feel like hurt and count for something. This is supposed to feel like humanity of the cusp of defeat and fighting for survival. Reach was a major disappointment. That took only 1-2 episodes and then it was over. It was one of the largest Earth-Convenant engagements of the war. Involving hundreds of ships on both sides. It was supposed to be a fortress. The last bastion of Earth in that sector before Earth. But somehow they completely mis-interpreted it. And you had ONI taking the suits that only the Spartans could use!!?!!?!? But instead we had to deal with so many plotholes, stupidity. FUD had a fraction of the budget this show had and they did it right by the fans. Just wish it was longer. Not going to bother with this anymore, I've listened to your streams. But you seem to err on the wrong side of history and defend this show like it was great show. It was not. Yes, it got a few things right. I like the production. Some of the acting was good. But everything else was terrible. What a sad waste of money. It deserved better.

As someone who owns all the lore, its refreshing to hear an actual conversation about the show amongst people who actually know what they are talking about instead of the usual ignorant hate-mongering. Great stuff!

This was embarrassing. It's crazy seeing how many UA-cam channels love the stupid fan service. Literally nothing in the"story"made any sense. Character motivations were illogical, it's crazy hearing praise for this at all.

For season 2 they just skimmed the halo wiki took some names and some events but not exactly understood what it was

Season 2 was really frustrating, as we seem to have spent most of it getting right back to where season 1 left off. Now, we're in a very odd place with it, and I'm not sure how we jump off of here to the next season. I'm glad that we finally got to the Halo ring, and I'm frankly unsurprised that they burned through three quarters of the Halo CE storyline in one episode. It made for an extremely satisfying episode that gives us a great example of how much you should change things to properly adapt to the new medium, while also retaining the core of what it is you're adapting. If it was me, though, I'd have had this be the penultimate episode and had the Ring blow up by the end of the finale. That's a strong starting point for the next season, while where we end up feels a bit wishy-washy. Are we just gonna pick up five minutes after we left off? Are we really gonna have a ground war after Makee more or less explained that the ring is TOO powerful? Are there any other surprises to reveal now that we know about the Flood? If the showrunners choose to be bold, we could go off in completely unexpected directions and find a great story because of it. If, however, they get rattled by even more fan complaints and try to, once again, start from scratch for season 3, then I don't think it's going to work. Maybe it will be enjoyable enough, but I'm guessing it would be even more of a slog than season 2 was.

Just want to clarify, I don’t think the infected were biting people. The flood spores were ‘manufacturing’ proto-infection forms using the matter in the bodies they had already infected and that would sneak into people and that’s how it was spreading. Patient zero for instance releases an infection form from her mouth which then goes to infect the guard and so on and so on.

I love all the non MC stuff in this book. The ODST and the elite and grunt stuff was great

Tick-tick-tick-tick-tick. We’ve been racing against the clock since the start of the season which put itself in a bad spot right off the bat by them essentially rebooting the darn thing and having to spend three episodes reestablishing the status quo. It was all for naught it seems as, aside from some aesthetic changes that have held all season, the story is more or less where I expected it to be from where the last season left off. People say they like this season more, but I just don’t see it. Say what you will about the first season, it had a clear vision all the way through whereas this feels cleanly split into two halves that are awkwardly stitched together. As far as my theory on Kwan, the books have given us examples of humans being given the memories of past humans (see Crytum), and I believe that the wandering tribe from season one have developed a rudimentary form of this with their magic water ritual which gives her pieces of Forerunner knowledge. We know that Madrigal had the same well that Onyx has so it was probably a Forerunner installation as well, and I’d assume that the World Lady’s planet had one too with their own method of reclaiming Forerunner knowledge. Kwan is not literally seeing the ghost of that woman, but rather it symbolizes her connection to something bigger than herself and the knowledge that is peeking through just on the outskirts of her consciousness. This means she isn’t hiding or holding back from the rest of the characters, she just doesn’t know everything she should yet. Anyway, great show! Tom’s got a lot of interesting ideas that are forcing me to rethink my season 3 predictions!
