The Ground Up - Rebuilding Crescent Kayaks After A Devastating Fire
Love what you guys are doing at Crescent. Such an easy brand to show love and support. What kayak would you say is the fastest within your lineup for a single paddler? Mostly to be used for inshore fishing
What model at Crescent is best for surfing ?
Can you take this boat into the surf? How would it perform??
Really disappointing that you did not add gear tracks on this point. Doesn't cost that much but when the consumer puts tracks it means drilling into the kayak but when manufacturers do that it means they mold a drop housing for the screws so no hole is drilled in the kayak. 2 tracks won't cost much so please add that or add screw housing so we won't poke holes on this. Also still prefer primary stability so please work on those. If you changed the hull design to focus more on primary stability your kayaks would be the best by far on the marker.
@@akorahmaniazar the rear tankwell set up has the tracks going into inserts. What you are describing is called a screw boss. There’s times where we and other manufacturers use them for rails. There’s also times when they are not used. Set of Yakattack rails would push the retail value up almost $50 (cost, install, ect). We believe giving the option to upgrade and keep price as affordable as possible was the right decision. This is a premium performance rec Kayak, which can be upgraded to Fishing. The main focus is not specifically Fishing. The main focus was best value possible. Paddling performance is a core focus of our company. We believe we have a fantastic blend between primary and secondary stability that allows connectivity of the paddler to the water and circumstances. The K - craft, CREW or the Shoalie are a little more suited for your preference. Thanks so much for checking out the video.
@@crescent-kayaks I like your designs very much. For us fishermen stability is more important than agility or and speed so hopefully you will design and open concept simple kayak with U shape hull. Again I think your kayaks are the best design on the market minus the bottom design. I am a bass guy & have a kayak with the design and sometimes I say to myself 'I wish there was more primary stability than secondary'
@@akorahmaniazar @yakattack gear tracks are the best in market and what we choose to use (American Made). They are not cheap and certainly not next to free. Have you paddled the Primo?
@@crescent-kayaks That's awesome. And thank you for your comments. I have a 'similar bottom' kayak. I wish I could give it a try before purchasing but I am on Vancouver Island and you have no dealers around. At least not any close to me so I have to do a lot of research before buying because I cannot try or return.
Can you install a rudder on the crescent lite tackle 2?
Is this boat set up to install a rudder on the stern?
This will be the next paddle board I get.
i want one
I plan on getting one and adding some lighting on it, since i love kayaking before sun up and all year round especially here in Alabama on the warrior river.
I ordered my PRIMO on 9/10/24, I had the opportunity to drive 4 hours {about half between where I live and Headweaters} to meet the Headwaters folks and pick up my PRIMO, but I opted for the 2 - 6 week shipping option, after all I did pay an $18 shipping damage insurance fee ... What a mistake that was!!! Every time I watch this or any PRIMO video I kick myself and just want to bang my head into a wall, several times. I can hardly wait for this little lady to arrive. It will be my first ever Kayak. I am getting geared up, and I am geared up and ready to go! The sooner the better. I hope I have not set my expectations too high. Thanks for the walk through James, very thorough. Question, do ALL screws that penetrate into the hull go into a 10/32nd insert? including the four screw(s) for the power pole mounting plate at the stern?
What happened to the anchor wizard recess? The only mounting plate i can find is the handle one which is much less convenient
Love this product! Exactly my dream kayak!
Because you didn't foam fill it it doesn't hold ice for very long.
Go USA
I love the seat story part.
Thanks! This is personal to us!
Wow what a beautiful waterway. So much exposed bedrock to explore.!
If you compare the hull design to the Shoalie would the main difference be the Shoalie has a little flatter bow..meaning less arch for rivers?
Ok man you sold me! I think I’m going to buy two this week! One for me and one for my daughter! Thanks for the detailed review!
Love it! Thanks so much for the watch
I saw you mention something on, I think it was the LTII video, where you said what the recommended weight was? Like yeah, it'll hold 400# without sinking, but it's really good for 275# or whatever before water comes up the scuffers? What's the recommended comfortable weight for this one? If I weigh 250# and have some fishing gear, am I going to be getting water up the scuffers?
Why no rod holders? Those ground holders will get in the way.
Thanks for giving it a watch! We have found the rod staggers on the floor work great. There are a lot of options to add rod holders to tracks and also to the mighty mounts. We make cleans systems to be customized. In regards to interior rod tubes we find those often leak and know on the manufacturing end the diagonal hole cut to install never perfectly matches the angle of the rod tube.
I own a cresçent, I just wish they would add a Made in USA decal on all crescent kayaks!!
Excellent video, I am going to start looking for one. Hit all the major points, though I would have like to hear the weight. Maybe I missed it.
This is literally, hands-down, the worst kayak I've ever rode. In 25 years of kayaking, canoeing, white water rafting, I've never had as bad of an experience as we did taking this tandem down what was supposed to be an hour long trip down the river we've been down a million times. Despite it being nowhere close to it's stated 500lb capacity, the low sides only stay about an inch above water and you sit in about 6" of water as soon as you sit into it. We tried it with scuoper plugs and that helped momentarily but then it immediately fill with water sloshing over the sides in essentially flat water/extremely minor rapids on a tubing river. I only hope that this review makes it to anyone who may be considering ever buying this boat, please don't. It's an absolute trash design.
Absolutely nuts!!
That is an awesome! Looking kayak and very well thought out. It pretty much looks like the perfect paddle kayak.🙂👍
Trolling motor friendly?
Love some of the new options you put in the primo..... any chance you will be revamping the CK1? I would love a ck1 with dents for fishing rods, etc.....
Just picked my primo up today!! So excited to upgrade to a Crescent
Thanks so much for the support! Join the owners group on FB! Great group of ppl and we would love to see your pics
Awesome video
what is speeds like on this setup?
Would love to see one of these with a pedal drive!
This primo looks like my ultra-lite's big brother. Fantastic job stretching the width and length just a bit but still keeping it light. Cresent boats paddle so good. My 10 ft Ultralight glides straight to a stop. Seats could be better. I would def buy another.
I'm trying to get Eco Fishing at Lake of the Ozarks to bring in a CK2 Venture for me to look at. I'm becoming convinced this would make a great river camping boat here on our many rivers in the Ozarks.
Good video i was wondering how stable the k craft is in a boat wake would it try and tip over all the time thanks
Dang, which to get? Ultra lite or this! Very cool boat! Have to pack my yak in to the woods with fishing equipment to get to my spot.. Decision, Decision, decision. Love what you guys are doing!
I've had my heart set on a CK1 for a while now, but this is making that choice complicated.
Wow, quality for 699 😮 thats a heck of a deal
🫡🫡 and American Made
I hope this brand of kayak reaches the Brazilian market. If it comes with a rear support for a 3hp engine, that would be welcome.
I like to fish large flat water. Like big lakes and ponds. But I also want a throw and go kayak. Easy enough to throw in the back of my truck for a quick trip to the lake. Is the ck1 the best one for me?
Yes sir! Bigger water lends itself to the CK1 over Primo for little more performance
@@crescent-kayaks thank you!
@@crescent-kayaks Is the lite tackle a possible throw and go? Would an average build man be able to carry it to hard to reach waters?
The price increases, dang!
Rampant inflation will do that.
Very nice I am curious why this color and a few other colors were dropped. Were they just not popular colors. I do like this greenish yellow color. I think it’s called Flash.
Was looking at the Venture but now you put this one out...wow.How does the bow/rocker of the primo compare to the venture? Some really good features on this yak, well thought out!
Does anyone know if the. Crescent stash pockets fit on this boat? Also, what are the white looking plastic bottoms in the cup holders?
$1500 kayak and it still has those screw in plastic fabric handles. Even the $600 academy brand has solid molded handles
Shoalie has 3 injection molded handles made in U.S.A. by Yakattack. The singular soft handle at the back allowed for the drag chain chutes while simultaneously being able to mount a power plate into the 4 bolt pattern
I’d like to compare this to the Kaku Zulu . Kaku seems thicker. What are the height dimensions on this? I only heard length and width. I don’t need another cooler but it look so clean with it! 🤤 I’m really glad they made a micro skiff, this company can easily take it over with this price smart move on Crescent vs going Pedal kayak. Easier market to compete with.
Weird there’s no gear traks
There’s an aftermarket kit. Wanted to keep it under $700 cost
Thank you for such a quality plus product😊
Smartest kayak release in years. While the other makers are building bigger, heavier, and much more expensive kayaks, Crescent is giving us all we need in a portable AND comfortable throw and go type kayak. Looks perfect for floating down river.
Flattered- thanks for the kind words and support
My 13yr old and I just purchased two of them from Southern Boutique Outfitter’s in Americus Ga. We fell in love with the skiff design and most importantly the color options. Flash for me and Noreaster for him. He is 13, this will be our first kayaks. As soon as we got home we scoured UA-cam for videos. Yours was the first one we found. We are both happy to discover you are not only close to us but also produce them in America. We added Newport Vessels NK 180s Trolling motors for both.
So cool! Will you join the owners group on FB and post the builds!?
@@crescent-kayaks absolutely! We take them out for their maiden voyage tomorrow.
Awesome! This looks like an excellent all arounder. Gonna pick one up for the summer! I know you all about paddling.. but anxiously awaiting to see what you come up with for pedaling! It's here, it's a thing, gotta embrace it at some point. Not only is it good way to change things up but it's also for those with limited accessibility... injuries, etc. Giving more people more ways to enjoy the water.
