A simple willow basket - viking inspired | summer Sweden, craft, scandinavia
Переглядів 14 тис.3 роки тому
This is how to make a simple but yet strong viking inspired willow basket. Willow has very plesant branches to work with and the fiber makes it pliable. There are different sorts of willow and you can also let the branches soak in water for a few days which method I havn't tried myself yet. My plan is to come up with more crafty videos for you in the near future, but still keep the garden and n...
How To Make a pair of WOOL SLIPPERS from scratch | Winter and craft in Sweden/the north
Переглядів 1,9 тис.3 роки тому
In this episode I'm making a pair of wool slippers from pure wool from the neighbour, from scratch. The techniques, carding and felting as I use here are both very old. Carding wool: 1 min 20 s Felting wool: 4 min 40 s The wool was unwashed and I left it that way as the fat in the wool makes the slipper even warmer and the result is a cosy slipper! Felted wool is not only warm but also very str...
How To Make APPLE CIDER VINEGAR | Sweden/nordic autumn, traditional recipe, homemade, DIY
Переглядів 1,2 тис.4 роки тому
In this episode I'm making Apple Cider Vinegar from the apples from the garden. This is a quite easy recipe but it takes some time as it needs to sit for several weeks. I'll show you when I pick the apples and the start of the fermentation. I also enjoy grilled apples that I make in the old fire stove in the little barn. I enjoy making a fire outdoors during the summertime but I even love it mo...
STROLL IN THE WOODS | Coffee, egg and bread, Sweden/nordic late summer
Переглядів 2,5 тис.4 роки тому
A walk in the woods around the lake, having egg and bread and coffee infront of a campfire in the area where I live. This is a special place to me and this time I was lucky to see the crane before they left us for the winter. Even though it might not excite to many people I love having my food outdoors! As it was a bit wet in the ground I brought some fire wood. MY CAMERA EQUIPMENT: Canon G7x m...
ANCIENT CRAFT TECHNIQUE - NEEDLE BINDING | making a hat tutorial, stone age technique, Sweden
Переглядів 10 тис.4 роки тому
Autumn is soon here and in this shorter episode I am using a 8000 old technique from the early stone age making a hat and a pair of "wristwarmer". It's called needle binding and the swedish word is nålbindning. It may look simple but there are many steps in each stitch. But the result is thick and preventing the wind from coming in. I love the hat and the "wristwarmer" is really cosy. Looking f...

How To Make ROSEWATER, DRYING LAVENDER, VEGETABLE SOUP in viking pot | Nordic/swedish summer
Переглядів 6 тис.4 роки тому
In this episode I am making rosewater from fresh roses from the garden. I mainly use that for the skin. The dried lavender bags are perfect to put in the wardrobe for a plesant scent. Currants are a favourite of mine and mainly I prefer to put the berries in the freezer just as they are. And obviously there are many ways to cook zucchini, this was a bit of an experiment, it was nice but a bit o...

How To Tap BIRCH SAP | spring in Sweden
Переглядів 4,7 тис.4 роки тому
Taping birch sap is an old tradition in the north and it also has a lot of health benefits. In the old days they used to say "drinking marrow into the bones" as you regained energy of the healthy drink. The texture is thin and the taste is sweet. Remeber to put a plug into the tree when you've finished the taping as the tree will be protected from beasties from the outside. MY CAMERA EQUIPMENT ...

I know it's from 3 years ago, but I still would like to thank you! You teached me something new and lovely, that's a beautiful work of art!
❤🎉
Do you not need to dry them out and soak them then? 🤔
I listen with tunic at side, naked in the woods, as I should be. HAIL THE OLD GODS AND GODDESSES. Skol to all.
Really lovely!
Muito bom. Que cipó é este que usou?
I’ve just discovered your channel. I’ve been learning to knit and I’m enthralled by how people lived before with more self-reliance and less dependence on machine manufacturing and technology. I’m not sure if there’s a point in me learning to do things like sew, garden, weave or needle binding, but I’d love if these ancient crafts were brought back into modern day cultural life.
It's so beautiful
❤so pretty
Very nice weaving work, cheers

Not what I was searching for, but it was what I needed 😊
That was a lovely video! Thank you! I was wondering if I could have the crochet pattern?
My grandfather used to make these. Unfortunately the know-how was not passed on to anyone in the family. When he was still alive, I'd randomly taken a branch from his willow tree, with the intention of planting it in my parents' garden, and it shot up in a very short amount of time. It's since been cut down and replanted, and grew back once again in a matter of a year or so. Now, many years later, I have set out to figure out this craft for myself, and somehow, carry on the tradition of my grandparents, with one of their own trees, no less :)
Beautiful!! Thank you x
Nice..
Just discovered your channel from Age of the North. Such a great atmosphere and vibe to this channel. Thanks for being here for us. Whatever you are doing, don't stop. This is what UA-cam was always about.
One of my most favorite things about Nalbinding is that you do not have to wind the yarn into ball - you can create straight from the skein. Well done on your work - they look very nice.
You should keep your shoulders low to avoid long-term back pain and spinal and trapezius problems.
Your so talented Making the Needle as well as the shawl Beautiful Place you live as well :)
Thank you Hannadi!
Beautiful

Är det en ginko? Jag har ocks en fast en mindre. Jättefin schal förresten.
Det stämmer, den är ungefär 35 år!
@@EiraCraftandNature Roligt. Min är ca tio år. Jag har snappat upp att om du lägger ett sådant blad i plånboken drar det till sig pengar. Tror det är en gammal kinesisk visdom. 😁
Tack för tipset 🙂
Do you like Liziqi? ❤️
She's very talented and creative!
@@EiraCraftandNature you have excellent taste 👍
Amazing! I love that you made your own crochet hook. =) And the shawl is exquisite! Love the pattern. Is it your own pattern?
Thank you Sarah! Accually I saw it ones and tried to figure out how it was made. So here is the result!
