Kayaking on the Myall Lakes
Переглядів 3,3 тис.2 роки тому
A three day paddle around the Myall Lakes National Park in New South Wales. This trip was a bit of a shake down of my gear and myself before I resume the Murray River paddle in late April 2022. Started at Mungo Brush boat ramp and stayed at Shelly Beach Campground and Violet Hill Campground. Follow the Summit to Sea Murray River journey at summittosea.live

I am resuming the paddle down the Murray River in Mildura at the end of April 2022. This is an abridged version of the journey so far. In May/June 2021 I travelled from the top of Mt.Kosciuszko to Mildura. Travelling more than 1500km over 48 days before COVID caused the South Australian border to close.

Fantastic Video and series! you are an absolute legend mate. This series has been a lot of help and some great inspiration for the planning of my Summit to sea trip planned for the second half of 2025
Would it self-right with a paddler inside?
Thanks for documenting your trip . this is a great series and look at the murray
Such a great area to kayak.. seems like there’s so many places to explore too
Hello Andrew, I found this to be a very helpful video indeed. Would you mind sharing your packing diagram you show at 15:53 please with me ?
Hi. There is a tab in my shared Pack List that has the diagram here... docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1-z4I6CGlJKv_L21oCJhCo1Jc6OhQaOTrhY0dYtMG0IY/edit?usp=sharing
Beautifully filmed and edited adventure!
Have thoroughly enjoyed your journey! Well done for persevering.
I was there amongst the crowd!
Enjoyed your perspective on our part of the river!
What a great video! I really felt for you in that mud!
Watching this two years later. I live in nsw but worked in Mildura and even got locked down in South Australia during COVID. Was a stupid time in our history. Thanks for sharing your journey mate, especially during a crazy period of time! Pure inspiration.
Great series of videos Robbo . That bloody muddy portage at the weir . Damn , you held it really well together on camera lol , you seam to take thing in your stride pretty well . but IDK off camera in that knee deep steep muddy bank , that would test anyone's composure and patients . Well done mate great series !
looks way nicer than the murray river . what do you think Robbo ? which would you prefer to paddle and camp along now you have paddled them both?. the Murray or the Bidgee?
Nice recommendations Andrrew . It must be hard to narrow it down to top five paddles . there are so many great places to paddle around Sydney
Nice one Anderw . Love ya channel
Nice one Andrew Thanks for the video . I have watched all your kayaking videos love em .
Ma! Ka! Ha!
Hell yeah to the crocs. We stop wearing fancy shoes in the canoe because it takes them forever to dry. I actually wear crocs down in rapids too.
Great vid but if I closed my eyes it sounded like Kevin Rudd paddling the Murray.
turned off at twisties idiot!
It is now October 2023. Have you done the journey?
Yes. If yob look at my channel or search for Summit to Sea, there are 14 episodes of my journey to watch
I’d love to hear you reflect on this and do a retrospective on gear and things the planning didn’t teach you
M thinking of rafting down the Murray on a similar path to you, I’m watching intently the depths and portage to see if it’s possible to do unsupported
Great stuff, thanks for sharing
Thanks for posting again Andrew. You have been missed.
This one is excellent Andrew!
Nice to see you back Andrew, good little video. Was just thinking about you recently wondering if you would have anything on the go. Just got back from a paddle myself and your video popped up. Nice one 👍
Thanks for the video . Nice to see you back . . Plan to go there kayak camping this October long weekend . I hope there wont be to many people in the camp spots . or at least hope to find some nice wild camping spots along the way . will be taking hammocks so should be able to find something where tent campers wont camp
congratulations and well done !
hey robbo - still waiting eagerly for your update based on what you learnt from living out of your kayak. Would be super useful and much appreciated. thanks
me too!
Hopefully will be filming an update next weekend
New video has been posted... just for you :-)@@BenPitcher@androidapps8822
champion ! - great to see you out and about too@@auntymonkey01
What did you do with the kayak at night?
Left it on the bank (with a cover over the cockpit to stop bugs getting in) or I would put it next to my tent at night.
Morgan now has great new owners of the takeaway shop. The bakery is still hit and miss.
great video - love the australian bush. 2 years with your bike do you still recommend it
I haven't ridden for about that long. Great bike... looking to sell it. I am not a cyclist... I am a kayaker 🙂
Cheers - i use to be into kayaking, flat and white water - great book is - kayaks to hell by william nealy. in regards to the unit x, im going to check out the sizings next week, either medium or large - see which is the best fit
Enjoyed it mate. Thanks.
Red black yellow balloon. Common colour. Not my country being black women. 🎉. I'll send Japanese n chineese flag.
Ask who blackfella painter.
No abos live in Burke town.
😂 lmfao as an elder.
Nothing to look at. No Aboriginal art. Hot water bore. Serious.
Hey Andrew, great to see you on the Mid North Coast! How do you go landing your drone over the water? Great shots and video!
I catch it. You can see me do it around the 17 min mark in my Summit to Sea EP4 video. ua-cam.com/video/3T9SMfKYaj8/v-deo.html
Hey Andrew, what a fantastic paddle and video. Are you still out paddling? Is your Kayak fibrerglass or plasticish?
I paddle a couple of times a week around Sydney. The kayak I currently use (as seen in the Summit to Sea videos) is a Mirage 582 made of kevlar. The one in this particular video (my older kayak) is a light weight plastic.
If Rodimus Prime was a kayak. You've got the touch!
I like food in packaging that ziplocks shut. That way it keeps smells sealed up for the garbage I'm packing out. Nothing worse than smelling like last nights dinner in bear territory
Fortunately we don't have bears here in Australia. 🙂
@@auntymonkey01 what predators are a concern for you there? Here we have Grizzlies, Black Bears, Timberwolves, Mountain Lions, Wolverines, and strangely enough, the Deer, Elk and Moose are somewhat dangerous is approached in the wrong way.
@@DustinRea snakes mostly. Brown, Black, Tiger and Red Belly Black snakes are pretty common. All of which are very venomous
@@auntymonkey01 that's scary. They have stealth. We have Rattlesnake and Black Widow and Brown Recluse here in BC, but the Rattlers and Widows are mainly in the very southern part of BC.
The Yamato Battleship of Kayaks
Where can i buy the river maps?
Go to rivermurraycharts.com.au/ the River Murray Charts book is great for between Yarrawonga and Renmark. I created my own maps (printed google maps) for above Yarrawonga. I used Google Maps on my phone below Renmark. I did buy the Murray River Pilot book but I found the scale was useless (it changes on every page), so just stuck to google maps.
Warning the exit at the caravan park in wagga got a bit messy, SUNK into waist deep mud YUK
Thanks for the heads up. The Bidgee certainly does mud well. That exit has always been a bit dicey. Wagga Beach is always a nicer option.
Been inspired by watching your videos, got my kayak and about to do this leg from gundagai to wagga in the morning 🌄
Good luck. I hope to get back and do that leg or the leg to Narrandera again in a few months.
@@auntymonkey01 made it to oura tonight, so many birds 🐦 the trip has been perfect.
Congratulations you have inspired me to get a new kayak and start paddling some inland waterways.
Great video. Thank you
