Is it completely blocked off below the falls ? I was there around 12 or more years ago and you could go right up to the pool below the falls. Maybe someone got hurt or acts of disrespect for the nature so they blocked it off.
They opened a new path within the last year to give the vegetation along the old trail a chance to regrow. You could climb down to the base of the waterfall but you're not supposed to

It looks like the trails probably are constantly wet. I love it when the trees are kind enough to grow stairs with their roots. It always makes me smile when I come to an incline on a trail and there they are the tree roots to assist.
