I have a head-canon explanation of the "rack operation" dead-end at the beginning of the game. The protagonist is supposed to be the hero: you know, brave, noble and all that. Torturing a defenseless jester by operating a rack is not a noble thing to do and thus if your morbid curiosity takes control over your actions - you don't "deserve" to go further. LOTT was my first non-pirated game I got for Christmas around 1993. I was excited as hell, but also couldn't make it out of the first room, because English is not my first language and I was 9 at the time :D I had to buy a gaming magazine that printed a solution to the entire game and only through that I could enjoy the game. It didn't become a beloved classic for me, I don't replay it annualy or anything like that - but from time to time, once a few years, the game pops into my mind and I go on the googling spree to see how other gamers perceived it. Thanks for the video!

After I played through 3 and the frustrating amount of moving boxes and dying failing sneak timing, I tought 4 would maybe be better. God, it was worse. I take the frustration from 3 any day over the boredom, flatness and nonsensicalness of 4. The Inzro was cool, but had somehow nothing to do with the game. Also, does 4 play before or after 3 timeline wise. I know the radio guy is mentioned in 4, but that does not neccessarily mean anything. After 3 George should be a bit more... well, he was knighted by a swcret order of monks and f*ing killed a Dragon! So why do the characters feel so meh. I have started 5, but am stuck on the first murder scene in the Galeria. Please, don't tell me it's another "click on everything and hope something happens" case.

Just because I loved them so much! I found this game particularly frustrating, with the dead ends/wrong answer/no further progression scenarios, and the pixel searching for hotspots on screen. I played through this game only once but watching this review made me dislike it again. I get why because of the gameplay and story people compare it with the first game. But personally I think the character models are ugly and the animations, script and voice acting make this game feel so overacted. Even the first two games who had a clear cartoonish style made me feel more immersed in a more serious story (well, the first game was more serious). This game clearly feels like fan service with its overuse of former characters in silly situations. In the fifth installment it's also so stupid to see how George and Nico's relationship has almost zero progression. It's like the characters are no "real" characters anymore and they were having a theater play in their own world. I know the Parzival's Stone is in development but I'm not looking forward to it. I have the feeling it'll go in a similar direction like this game, yet I'd be open to watch a review first and see what they actually did.

To me, one of the best games ever made and a masterpiece, despite its rushed end. I love almost everything about it. I don't know anything with a similar touch and such a great story and story progression. In my last playthrough I was kinda surprised how mean George and Nico are sometimes. When I look at this game in comparison to Broken Sword 4 and 5, I think it's closer to the essence of the series. Yes, the gameplay and how it resulted in a weird 3D game and the story are bad. However the aesthetics and George and Nico's character and dynamic (btw I love their casual outfits and how both have booty) are for the most part gorgeous. Yet I have to admit that the last time I played this game I deleted it and just had another great time with the first game. This game has a little soft spot for me because of nostalgia and because I really dislike 4 and 5. And Petra is slaying

I don't see the interview with the assassin as an unfair death situation. If you've been paying attention to his apparent agenda by that point in the game, it would be clear that he is motivated by a desire to defeat the Templars just as George is. Realising that being honest in the interrogation not only potentially helps one of the few allies George has, but also wins his trust so that he will drop his guard at the critical moment is a rare moment of social logic in a game full of absurd contrivances.

Thank you for your great reviews! I keep rewatching them! As for the „fluff“ in BS1, I actually think it‘s what made this game the strongest in the series, because it gives the player a sense of „free will“. You can try silly illogical things if you choose to. You could die, so be careful or save first. If the game limits your choices too much, I loose the sense of freedom and the world feels less real to me because I am following a narrative line that only kind of takes me by the hand now and then. BUT: The fluff must be as perfectly written as in BS1. Boring fluff is terrible.

If Phoenix Wright and Harvey Birdman did a crossover, this is how the story would go. Zorak from Space Ghost coast to coast sues Space Ghost for assault on the set of the show, so he hires Harvey Birdman to help his case, Meanwhile Phoenix gets a call from Space Ghost to help out his innocence, after a hilarious court battle, Phoenix and Harvey reluctantly investigate the set of coast to coast, they get some info from the witnesses on Ghost planet, useful info from Moltar the director and not so good info from Brak, after getting info on the two, they found a tape of SG 's show from the night of the assault, he was interviewing movie star Keanu Reeves, then Phoenix and Harvey visit Reeves for further information, Reeves tells the lawyers he did get interviewed by SG but he mentioned he didn't assault Zorak, after a full day of getting information from witnesses and finding evidence, they continued the case the next day but instead of Phoenix's judge it was Mentok the mindtaker,, after the witnesses give out their testimonys, it was later revealed that the Space Ghost that assaulted Zorak was a robot, builted by Professor Conroy from Frankenstein JR due to Space Ghost cheating on his girlfriend, SG was then proven not guilty by Mentok
