I can tell you for sure that I appreciate “real“ gardens more than I appreciate pristine gardens. I think completely pristine Gardens are more for show than growing food. Gardening is messy, weeds are messy, dirt is messy. I try different methods continually, and my garden right now is a holy mess from all the materials I collect, reuse, recycle to keep my garden Growing healthy food and keeping costs down.. Thank you for being real with us. That’s how we learn.

Try putting actual dirt, sand, silt & clay in your beds. You're filling (& find yourself refilling) with compost which is not dirt/soil. A good 12 in of real dirt will improve you beds. You can also cover crop your beds which will improve soil life & put organic matter (dead cover crop roots) right where you need them.

Maybe It was found in the chickens because they constantly pecked through the bedding inadvertently eating a good amount of the cardboard. Maybe I’m wrong but i thought the dioxins were found in white paper. I thought this was why you’re supposed to only use brown.

That is a hard problem to solve, you can try prayer! If it's just a few whiteflies, don't worry about it, but if their numbers start increasing to more than 5 whiteflies per leaf, then you can try an insecticidal soap. Do not spray normal soap on your plants, you must purchase "insecticidal soap" only.

Just found you. OMG.... you study bugs. As a pro you can provide a gold mine of information. I have every bug known to "people" and I would love to understand the species, the best products to use against them, and how to use those products safely and effectively being as environmentally conscious as possible. This video was awesome. I'm interested in much much more including info on spider mites, leaf miners, flea beetles, japanese beetles, scale, mold.... really anything that effects vegetables, shrubs, trees, flowers... Love your style and I have the same general perspective on gardening as you. I laughed at how you ended the video - chefs kiss on gardening perspective! The struggle is real!!! Your fan(s) want more, more, more ❤

Hear, hear! Have these people looked at undeveloped Florida lots? They are like a jungle - lush, thick yet bare in some places and not manicured. If that’s not what you like by all means but some of us enjoy more natural look with native plants that support insects and birds and what have you. That’s nothing to be embarrassed about (if anything, be praised)and there’s no need to shame those who don’t subscribe to more traditional manicured lawn and neatly planted ornamentals. Having said all that, as someone from NE I do find that FL in general seems to have more plants than just lawns which I appreciate.

True, where I am the squash vine borers are relentless. The advice for others does not work for me. Eggs at the base? Nope, eggs all the way down the vine. I beat the drum of every garden is different. There are too many variables. I garden on a high wind drier prairie. Never seen a hornworm. My yard ecology is way different than most gardeners. Definitely different from Florida. What you advise definitely won't work for me just as you say eff off to other gardeners giving you advice. I get it. I have no advice for you. Why would I? I will say my garden isn't perfect and nobody has given me any shit about it. It's unfortunate that happened to you. I guess I surround myself with other messy gardeners who make mistakes and are supportive and joyful anyway. I also have my comment screening set to "strict". Your garden is beautiful.

If you are in Florida you must use what the fern growers use and screen the garden from the hot sun. I live in Pierson the Fern Capital and all of the growers use this black type of screen to cover acres of their plants. So this year we got some of that fernery screen and it has be a life saver for us but now we have been hit by the squash bore and squash bug/stink bug so we now have to rip out our beautiful patch of pumpkin, squash and possible the cucumbers? Sucks but I will plant again in September because that is when these pest will not be in season I have heard. My tomatoes are doing fine and potatoes so I will be planting more potatoes.
