Just last week found jumping worms in my resting hot compost. I had to sift out the JW's, now I have to separate out the good worms before I solarize the compost to kill any jumping worm cocoons. First time I found them in my resting compost, too much moisture this year, last 2 years we had drought conditions.
    Stay Well!!!

I garden in Ohio. I have different critters in my compost than you. I put food and yard waste all together. When the contents are actively cooking I don’t see many earthworms, but when it cools off and approaches “doneness”, that’s when they move up from the ground to eat what’s left in my compost. We get roly-polies, but they don’t look like what you pointed out. They roll themselves into a ball if touched. Luckily no cockroaches in the compost. That would creep me out. Centipedes here on occasion but nothing resembling your exotic millipedes. I’ve accidentally stabbed numerous voles (mothers and babies) when stirring my bin because they thought it was cozy down on the bottom. I scream like a little girl when that happens. Ants love my garden soil (luckily no fire ants although some of them do bite) but they’ve never been interested in the compost. Bees and wasps love to visit the food waste additions. In the fall during apple season, the yellow jackets will chow down on the apple cores and peelings after making applesauce. They’re quick too. If I set down my bucket of scraps to open the compost bin, there will probably be a yellow jacket already in the bucket when grab it.

Why the term 'yucky'? Such a stupid and mindless attitude to the web of life

Facts are facts. If a living thing 'finds' its way into an area and multiplies to levels that interrupt how the native living things have been living or even causes the population of the native living things to diminish - it is invasive.

They just come on their own, it is a place of moisture and warmth with plenty of food.

@@Anythingforfreedom I really don't understand your point with these comments. Are you a robot making random comments? This is a video about invertebrates in compost, nothing political is happening here.
