Приєднався 7 сер 2006
The Punk Uncle Show is where diverse passions collide to create a fresh and unique flow of content. I love mountain biking. I also love cooking great food and sharing amazing wine and whiskey with my friends. I founded Stokeroast Coffee with my son and we produce some of the best coffee you could ever buy. Every ride is preceded by coffee, so it might as well be the best. After every ride, we eat and drink, so why not do that to the best of our abilities?
The Punk Uncle Show brings you brutally honest mountain bike product reviews, expert cooking tutorials, wine & whiskey reviews, wine pairing tips, mountain bike trail POV videos and much, much more. Join me on this journey by subscribing now!

MOTR MORNINGS! Southern Oregon Summer Morning Ride @ Mountain of the Rogue with DH finish
Since I moved to Southern Oregon in June of '22, I've been trying to get into a solid and regular riding schedule like I had back in California. One place that has kept my legs somewhat in shape is "Mountain of the Rogue" (aka MOTR) in Rogue River, OR. It's less than 20 minutes from my house. With work being unpredictable and afternoon temps soaring July - September, I fell into a little rhythm of hitting MOTR in the mornings. As I mention in the video, it's right off of I-5 and really easy to access. The parking lot was just expanded and re-paved and there are bathrooms. Every ride at MOTR starts with a climb up Rat Pack. There are several points you can get off and head downward. The route I took in this video is what has been working well for me lately. It's roughly a 30-minute climb to start, then 10 minutes down. All in all, I get a good climb and some really fun downhill in under 45 minutes and I can get along with the rest of the day. Of course, if you have the time, there are a bunch of different route options within the same trail system. I'll cover some of that in a future video. For now, enjoy this one and make sure you follow along on Instagram (@punk_uncle_show) to keep up with everything going on!

LIZARD vs. RABBIT HOLE! WHICH 1-MINUTE TRAIL IS BETTER?

On a very wet and recent ride in the Ashland Watershed, I found myself comparing Lizard and Rabbit Hole to each other, because they share a lot of similarities. Both are short and can be ridden in about a minute. Both are very flowy and feature nice berms and well-built jumps. Both are really fun to see how fast you can go. As for their differences, I'd say Rabbit Hole is just a little bit tigh...

just did this trail back in early September. I personally liked Lawler trail the best.
Nice, I’m hoping to make another Oakridge trip before winter. I’d love to hit Lawler, heard many good things.
Wheres the trail head because Im doing this tomorrow I live 20 min from Shaver
Visit southgatetrails.org to get the details. Thanks for watching
Dude... discovered your channel a little while ago. Absolutely love it! Wine me... Dine me... 29 me! Haaaaaahahaha!!! I ride a 2022 Evil Following 😈 and she's a BEAST! Keep making great content. We thoroughly enjoy it up here in Southern Ontario. 👍😎💪
Rad!! Thanks for the support 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
"chasing trail" amazing title!
😁 thanks!
So I’ve been eyeing this set up for like ever! Literally, the most practical vehicle in the entire world for a working family man. Apparently in Wisconsin I have to drive to like California to get this set up for a new van. Where do you live and how hard was it to get this crew van set up for yourself? Were you able to order it from the factory with the crew package?
I lived in central California at the time, bought the van at the Ram dealership in Watsonville. They we’re getting them in equipped that way in the summer of 21. I had seen it first at the dealership in Turlock, but they were already spoken for. Then came across the same setup over near the coast and was able to grab her.
That white ring is impossible to get onto the o ring 🤔
I’ve seen it done, but yeah, tricky for sure.
Thanks mate!
🙏🏼👊🏼🤘🏼
Nice hub. Don't think for gravel I need the high engagement. Next wheel build will be DT 350s for maintenance simplicity.
Thanks for watching!
cool video. im tryin to fifure which van to get sprinter or the dodge and i am a mtber too..
Thanks for watching and good luck with that decision!
Are you on a green screen?
No nothing that high tech just my backyard. Thanks for watching 🤘🏼
Ima buy one
Nice! Thanks for watching.
@@PunkUncleShow "cheap" now because of black friday also. i'm pretty sure they don't normally discount these too much, but for about $200 now I can get an external along with a loam lever and cables. Was going to get a dropper anyway for my new bike (literally just arrived), but I do recall back in the day low back pain sometimes, so I'm impressed this alleviated your wife's issues.
Why did you want absolute strangers to see your first “peddle strikes” on your new bike?
Why does anyone do anything? Because they can. Same reason people hide behind keyboards. Thanks for watching.
Just discovered this trail system last year and I can’t believe how fricken fun they were! Thanx for all your hard work, I couldn’t help but donate to your group. Siiiick!
That’s what it’s all about! Riders supporting riding! Thanks for kicking in, because this work can’t get done without the support of those who enjoy the results 🤘🏼
I have been riding this trail for the last 5 years when we vacay up there and I’ve never seen a vid on it! Thanks for uploading this, I love hitting this trail. Ran into bears a few times, so heads up! 😎
It’s been 3 years probably for me and I’m dying to ride it again! Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts 🤘🏼
Though p321 is no longer in business. I have this hub and love it. Once in awhile I need to come back to this video when it’s time for maintenance.
I appreciate that and that was honestly one of the reasons Jake wanted to make these videos. There are a lot of this generation of hub out there and they need servicing! 😁 P321 is alive and well, though. The new hubs will be released pretty soon here. Keep an eye on their social media accounts for more info and thanks for your comment and support! 🤘🏼
@@PunkUncleShow great to hear you’re still in business. Thanks for your reply.
If you are not in sales, you should be.
Appreciate that! Thanks for watching!
Thanks bro. No more decent 11 speed cranks left so need to update this hub from HG for 12 speed system.
That’s exactly why we made these videos! Thanks for checking it out. 🤘🏼
Dude ! Awesome summary and critique. I'm totally geeked about my 2022 GX Hydra Following XL. Been to Pisgah, Dupont, DTE, Stoney and Beech Mountain (might have been a bit on the edge there but WTH ....) and this bike just eats it up! She's a bobsled downhill and a billy goat on climbs. In my opinion this baby can't be beat !
I’m almost 3 years with mine, ridden her in all kinds of terrain and still can’t imagine a more versatile or fun bike to trail ride. Thanks for watching 🤘🏼
Hello, I am writing this with a translation program, if there are any errors I apologize. I just had a question? I have the same bike, namely a PRO-FORM smartpower 10.0, similar to your video on UA-cam. When I start my bike I see the IFIT logo and after a few seconds I get a white screen. The bike has always worked well, but currently I only see a white screen when I normally have to get the page with the different training sessions. Can one also reset that bicycle? Or if the screen is broken, can it be ordered afterwards and where? Can you help me out? I have the same screen as in the video on UA-cam. Thank you in advance and kind regards. Guy
Sorry to hear about your issues. I honestly don’t know what’s available as far as replacement parts. I would recommend reaching out to Pro Form directly and inquiring about your options. Good luck!
Did you ever build this out?
Not yet completely. We got derailed the summer we got it by high material prices and lack of availability, then we relocated the next spring, bought a new business and things have been crazy. Still planning on it, just had to re-prioritize 😁 Thanks for watching and we will definitely update when there is progress.
Ram did a bad package the seats should be easly removed
Still rockin’ the stick seats, but you’re right. They won’t be hard to remove when we do replace them. Thanks for watching.
Nice video, but please work on the sound.
Lol, I’m a guy with a GoPro and an iPhone doing outdoor videos. It gets dicey sometimes. Appreciate you watching 🤘🏼
Man I’m like smack dab in between the L and XL. Demo’d both and the XL just felt too big, but the L was a tad small too. Looking at other brands that recommends up to 6’3 for their L, with basically the same reach/stack/geo. The Mtb community seems split on sizing up or down
It’s definitely a personal thing. My background is MX so I’ve always preferred a little longer reach than what is often specified. I like a little more room in the cockpit. Others feel a larger/longer bike is harder to turn. You can use a stem change to narrow in one way or the other as well. When I shop, reach is basically how I determine the size I want. If you know what you’re already used to, maybe figure out whether you’re more comfortable going longer or shorter from there? Thanks for watching. Let me know what you end up going with and how it works out!
@@PunkUncleShowsounds good man thanks for the reply. I’m leaning towards the L, but am gonna rent one for a day to make sure I really love it. It’s around 1” in wheelbase difference so I doubt stability will be that affected on the L, and I do ride quite a bit of tech. Good review man!
IS THAT MX
27.5 front and rear. Switching to mullet soon and I’ll definitely make some videos about the differences.
Is sad that couple years ago I brought my bike and now I can’t get a new console, because my seems like broken. On some videos they said to reset but nothing happens. I’m so disappointed, just spent my money for junk!
Aw what a bummer! Sorry to hear that. Hope you figure something out with it.
Well I was searhing for this type of dropper and this is it. I need it for my hard tail Cube bike. Thank you for this video, big like and subscribe from me
I appreciate that so much! Thank you! I’m glad it was helpful.
@@PunkUncleShow few years ago I had SR Suntour NCX suspension seatpost, it was really quality made and simply to set up and use. Feeling in ride was really amazing and you can set it to be softer or harder depending on your needs. Now I am in search for dropper and this model is perfect blend of suspension sestpost and dropper. Now I must find out if my frame can take inside routed, external or half internal and half external, or to drill it. Must carefully figure it out. Drilling is last option, but I would like to have my bike tidy and clean with minimum of flapping cables
Good luck!
Thanks so much, great review .. I’ve just bought a hard tail that’s needs both drop and suspension
Congrats on the new bike! Glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks so much for the support and comment. Enjoy getting that new rig dirty!
love your videos bud, looking forward to seeing more Oregon-based videos.
Thanks bro! More to come for sure!
Hey! Thanks for review... Can you pair your own tablet or phone with the iFit and this device? Would the automatic resistance change work?

Great review, thank you much!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching 🤘🏼
How are the Ibis Carbon wheels NOW? Are they better then the BLK BRD SEND wheels from ibis ? Would you still pick the carbon wheels ? I have same bike as you same parts just debating ibis carbon wheels for $800 and im heavy rider 220lbs Thanks 🤙🏼 Thanks 🤙🏼
Hey Gary! I sold the bike a while back, but it went to a friend and I see it on the trail or Facebook regularly 😁 Those wheels are so good I actually had another set custom built for my EVIL Following. On both bikes they have been really dependable and I’m a heavier rider as well (210-215 depending on what point in the ride it is 😆). With the Ripmo AF in particular, I felt the wheel upgrade for $800 was a great deal for getting that bike to ride way above its pay grade. To be fair, I haven’t ridden their aluminum rims, so I can’t give you a direct comparison perspective, but on their own…great wheels. Thanks for watching brother!
DUDE! you flew up that climb! Cool video. Miss you here bro
Thanks buddy! Hopefully we can get a holiday ride or beer at least when I’m back in town 🤘🏼
I'm thinking of adding the crew van upfit on my older 159" promaster window van. Looking forward to seeing your process!
Rad! Keep me posted and thanks for watching 🤘🏼
Great vid and bike. Size suggestions for 5’6”?
Thanks man! I’d go medium personally, but EVIL might say otherwise. You’re kind of where I am on their charts, being right at the edges of size recommendations. I say buy based on the reach you like, because the cockpit feel is super important to me.
I have this post in the 30.9x150mm version. Best one out there for ease of adjustment in changing dropper length. The problem I have is that a very low torque on the seat post bolts results in freezing up the seat post. Anything over about 2NM prevents it from dropping, or if dropped, from coming up. Have you had this issue?
Thanks for watching! I haven’t had that issue at all. My post is about 1.5 years old now. I would definitely reach out to PNW and see what they say. Good luck 🤘🏼
Great video brother! I’m debating the Evil insurgent or the Yeti SB140. Great band on that shirt too. Love some Strung Out.
Thanks for checking it out!! The SB140 Is probably the Yeti I would want most, but I wouldn’t trade the Insurgent for one personally. That’s a fully unbiased opinion of course 😆.
I love this indoor bike too! Thank you for taking the time to review. You certainly answers a lot of questions. Would love help with having programs ready to go!!! Takes me up to 20mins trying to find a ride I’d like to do - either similar or harder than the past ride I did? 👍🏻
Thank you so much! I get kind of tired of how long it takes to find a ride I want to do as well. Most of the other issues I was having have either been fixed or improved since my review. The power meter is completely inaccurate on mine, but other than that, it’s been great considering the price.
Researching this bike bc I'm thinking of buying one, really disappointed to hear about the paint. I have a 9-year-old Salsa that doesn't have those issues. I know it's only cosmetic, but I do like to keep my things looking nice when I can. And that it's orange is a great color. Maybe if I get one I'll have to go to the silver so all the chips and stuff isn't as noticeable.
I got one of their touch up pens and it helped a ton with the chips and keeping the frame looking fresh. Thanks for watching 🤘🏼
how the heck did he get these backseat in may of 2021?!, I though these seat were an option of the 2023 model
This was a dealer package that got added, not a factory option. Thanks for watching 🤘🏼
Great video. Has the sync issue been sorted out now?
Thanks for watching. Yes, the sync issues have been resolved
Thanks for the detailed trail guide to C.P. We plan to be there for the Labor Day. Need more vids like this!
That’s rad! Thanks for watching. I’m glad it was helpful. Enjoy the trails up there 🤘🏼
China Peak is so much fun. Nothing like it in California. Best park as far as I'm concerned, but I love the super technical rocky stuff, which isn't for everyone. I hear they are working on adding more jumps, flow and wood features.
Right!? Since I started riding there a couple years ago, I’ve always said it makes everywhere else a little easier. I love it and hope I can get a weekend in this season 🤘🏼
I don't see how that's a black diamond ? Maybe a blue or even a green, seemed really tame lol
Me either. I’m not in charge of the ratings, because that would be a blue. If you ride the very upper part of it. It’s got a pretty steep section, but I don’t think most people even start at that point. None of the black diamond trails I’ve ridden in that area are very technical at all. Still pretty fun, though. Thanks for watching 🤘🏼
The title card literally gave me a jumpscare. Please balance your audio.
Sorry about that 🤘🏼
@@PunkUncleShow use dynamics on your title card, bro 😁😁
Good review. I've got a v3 Following that I love. Thinking about replacing a v1 Ripmo with the new Wreckoning or Insurgent MX. Have you tried to ride it with a 29 up front? Just curious as I've only ridden 29ers for the last 5 years and wonder what it would be like to ride mullet. Rock on! \m/
Sadly, but maybe not, I haven’t switched to the mullet yet. Only due to life/business being completely insane the last several months, not because I haven’t wanted to. It’s realistically probably not gonna happen til Fall now. HOWEVER, I’ve come to love 27.5 life! Since you have a Following (me too), you don’t have to ride the big bike on long pedal days and the 27.5 Insurgent is a super well mannered, yet rowdy rig for enduro or shuttle days. I think the mullet might help with speed a little bit and obviously be nice on steep tech, but the little front is super nimble at speed and makes it feel really quick. It’s a blast.
I grew up hiking, riding and skiing this mountain. Just imagine a granite rock the size of New York, decomposing for millions of years. That's what you're riding on.
Love that granite! Thanks for watching 🤘🏼
Howdy, hey how long is the loop, i am from san jose, i will visiting near fresno, i will be doing some riding dwn that way, what are some good loops,
That’s an out and back on the San Joaquin River Trail. It’s really not a great spot this time of year, unfortunately. Too hot and it’s low elevation, rattlesnakes, etc. 007 up in Bass Lake or Goat Mountain are good during the summer (morning or evening is still best). If you’re in town for a weekend, China Peak is a ton of fun.
Does P321 torque caps fit Stan's M-Pulse hub?
I honestly don’t know. I’m not familiar with the different Stan’s hubs, unfortunately.
I don’t have much experience with dropper posts. I’m more of a gravel enthusiast and enjoy carbon set posts. I must say the PNW coast does what it says. I have one installed on my VO Neutrino (internal) and has been great! I’m $2+ and is set to a little over 270 psi. No back strain as per rigid seat posts If you’re curious this a great one to start with. I like punk music too…
Glad you concur! 🤘🏼🤘🏼Thanks for watching!
Sick bike man. I just bought this same bike for my son. He really likes it. Hey I am friends with Jacob and Rafael they told me about your channel. Nice review
Awesome man! Your son should have a killer time riding one of these! I sure did. Jacob and Raph are solid homies for sure. Love them boys, thanks for checking it out! Do you have a channel as well?
@@PunkUncleShow Thanks man no I don’t have a channel. Maybe in the future though. Yeah I am pumped my son just turned 14 and he went from a hard tail to that bike and he has the Jade X coil too in the back.😀😀
