I cried during this sequence this was my childhood and it is just wonderful that it finally got a remake

This song did it's job both when I played it as a kid as it did today when I fought the final boss. To inspire. And let me tell you it indeed helped me. That and a whole LOT of luck with nothing but Bingos keeping me alive.

I think I prefer how emotive the original is but this fits the vibe of that whole final area really well

I feel like this could've been a really awesome remix if they just put down the damn guitar. Everything else, from the trumphant orchestrated part to the voices fit the song like a glove. I just don't get what they were going for with the metal.

I do think the music for riddle tower gives an unsettling feel in the og version, and the pit lemotif made things all the more jarring.... here in the remake it feels like they were going for an ethereal sacred shrine vibe, which totally fits the ominous, adventurous feel as Mario and the gang journey through the tower nearing the end of their quest. As for why it sounds pleasant and not as scary, the courtyard and Riddle Tower are the only areas in the palace that give us a true view of what the ancient city looked like fully intact, being the only places behind the door without the shadow queens decor gleaming everywhere. This place definitely felt like a moment of calm before the storm going deeper into the chaos..... and honestly the tower, and the design of the courtyard are big reasons for some of the many that Chapter 8 is my favorite in the whole game.

Wow, this sounds completely stripped down compared to the original. Can barely even hear the original melody in it.

Words can’t describe how i felt hearing this in the remake. It was like I was teleported back to 2004, fight the shadow queen for the first time again. Absolute goosebumps

I was in disagreement with the rearrangement initially, but when those vocals kicked in, gosh they demolished me.

Riddle Tower was always my favorite. It was an ominous puzzle break before approaching the final showdown. That poem when you get all of the keys really sets the tone for the tail end of the game.

Absolutely love this them. Though, everyone who doesnt seems to be talking about the guitar. Personally, i think some of the frantic drums are just a bit too loud. But thats legit the only nitpick

Just beat the remake yesterday. Now i truly understand why this game is so loved. There was so much care and thought put into it. Granted, my favorite Paper Mario game is still probably Origami King due to not having to overly grind, BUT! I can gladly say this remake is probably my second favorite Paper Mario game. I ESPECIALLY love how it took the sound design from Origami King and applied it to the TTYD soundtrack.

I actually really like this arrangement, but considering the lengths the remade OST goes to add more consistent leitmotifs it feels like a bit of a missed opportunity that they didn't add the "Peace Returns" leitmotif anywhere here.

I cried so much when this music kicked in. Truly an amazing moment.

I can't remember the last time I cried so hard during a video game. 20 years later and this sequence is _still_ one of the most powerful moments in gaming history.

look, the original creeped the shit out of me as a kid, so it was already pretty unlikely that any remake would hit me as hard ... but this isn't even creepy, it sounds downright pleasant

Until yesterday, the last time I had beaten the game was the day my mother died, when I booted up my favorite game of all time so I could finish a file so I could… stop thinking about my situation for a bit. Ever since then, until the remake, I hadn’t had the energy to get to that point in the game again. This theme was exactly what I was waiting for. And it was worth the wait

A lot of the remixes just don’t do it for me, but this is one of the few that met my expectations. Not only did they stay true to the feeling of the original, they made it hit even HARDER. It might not be quite as tear-jerking, but it does make you feel even more pumped to slay the demon, and how can that possibly be seen as a bad thing?!

I cant help but wonder if the people hating on this even bothered to listen to the whole thing through. There isn't just metal guitar riffs but also new vocal pieces along with some more orchestral bits. I think the new additions really help elevate the feeling of all your friends rallying to your aid.

unfathomable that they took the best track in the game, possibly the series, and made it even better. Insanity.
