It's also more reminiscent of the original Nintendo 64 game. Bowser's Castle has a lot of electric guitar in it, especially the closer you get to Peach's Castle. Works much better as a "final boss area" theme.
Honestly, I think the original and this one are equally good. Granted they're DRASTICALLY different, but they both succeed in the same context: giving hope for the final battle.

Made me as emotional today as it did 20 years ago I can tell a lot of care was put into this theme and adding detail to the scenes cheering the party on, and thats good enough for me
Y'know, the more I think about it, the more this versiom of the song feels like a victory lap - which, in the context of a huge population of the player base going back around to defeat the final boss for the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, whatever time so and so many years later... Yeah, it fits for that. I love the original for making a hopeless situation seem possible. I love the remix for reminding those players that they've done this before and can do it again.

Im so fortunate to be alive right now. 10 months ago I would have never imagined getting an opportunity to play this amazing game, as i did not have a GameCube or backwards compatible Wii. And with the apparent direction of the series, i would have never guessed that one September morning id wake up to hear the world shake. I finally have this game in my hands and its been a treat to play, daresay it might be my favorite in the whole series now, alongside Super Paper Mario. What a masterpiece of a game this is
really surprised to see how much people really dislike this song and a lot of the other remade songs in general. personally, i really love all the remade music and this song especially takes very heavy inspiration from origami kings style of music, but i do get why some would prefer the less in-your-face inspirational sorta vibe the original goes for, while this is more dramatic and exciting with the guitars and drums
Absolutely agree. Some songs maybe go a little to bold or over the top,but overall this is a majestic new take on the TTYD music and I prefer it over the original ost.

Until yesterday, the last time I had beaten the game was the day my mother died, when I booted up my favorite game of all time so I could finish a file so I could… stop thinking about my situation for a bit. Ever since then, until the remake, I hadn’t had the energy to get to that point in the game again. This theme was exactly what I was waiting for. And it was worth the wait
Same,it's my favourite song in the game. It rlly gives the player hope in an impossible looking fight against the Shadow Queen. The remix is even more gorgeous than the original.

I cant help but wonder if the people hating on this even bothered to listen to the whole thing through. There isn't just metal guitar riffs but also new vocal pieces along with some more orchestral bits. I think the new additions really help elevate the feeling of all your friends rallying to your aid.
Just beat the remake yesterday. Now i truly understand why this game is so loved. There was so much care and thought put into it. Granted, my favorite Paper Mario game is still probably Origami King due to not having to overly grind, BUT! I can gladly say this remake is probably my second favorite Paper Mario game. I ESPECIALLY love how it took the sound design from Origami King and applied it to the TTYD soundtrack.
This was the theme i was waiting for and i really like how it sounds, i do feel they could've used something other than the heavy guitars to be honest. Either way still sounds great.
If I thought the original has an effect of giving me chills, boy oh boy, did the remix somehow effected me with even more chills. I absolutely love the guitar that's added in this remix. It feels so more impact as an epic finale compared to the original. But, the thing that really made me get lots of chills was Peach's echoey voice when she offers her last remaining power to Mario and his friends to defeat the Shadow Queen. Since Nintendo added sound clips for the characters in this remake, this moment was something I wasn't expecting. Like goddamn, this remix feels magical! (Now I gotta get this game!)
It’s weird seeing so many people shit on the remake soundtrack, honestly. I can’t help but feel like it’s TOK hate leaking through because it heavily takes from that game’s music style… Like, of course the remake was gonna go for a more updated vibe for a lot of these tracks. The originals are great, and the new stuff is great! Is that so hard to accept?
I hate the modern Paper Mario trilogy (SS, CS, and Origami King), but I love this style of music. X-Naut Fortress is a banger. Granted, i'll be honest they kind of missed with this one. Guitar wasn't the right instrument for this. But most of them are good or better so it doesn't matter.

I haven't even played, nor heard tok soundtrack before and I still heavilly dislike THIS track specifically and have my own problems with most of remake ost that makes so 99% is at best comparable to the original (besides Xnaut Fortress and MAYBE Lord Crump's boss themes, but I still prefer how hard the original goes in intensity)
@@senorlock5128 guitar is always a great choice for a final boss sequence. one of the greatest RPG OSTs of all time, Bravely Default, utilizes a lot of the same instruments the TTYD remake did in their final battle songs.
This song did it's job both when I played it as a kid as it did today when I fought the final boss. To inspire. And let me tell you it indeed helped me. That and a whole LOT of luck with nothing but Bingos keeping me alive.
Listening to this in game was... an experience indeed You'd think the metal feel wouldn't fit but holy crud did this feel empowering. Not too out of place either since the shadow queen themes also go hard as heck Also freaking vocals
A lot of the remixes just don’t do it for me, but this is one of the few that met my expectations. Not only did they stay true to the feeling of the original, they made it hit even HARDER. It might not be quite as tear-jerking, but it does make you feel even more pumped to slay the demon, and how can that possibly be seen as a bad thing?!
Absolutely love this them. Though, everyone who doesnt seems to be talking about the guitar. Personally, i think some of the frantic drums are just a bit too loud. But thats legit the only nitpick
everytime this songs motif appeared in some other track, i noticed it, knowing it would play during the climax. i have gotten to this point on the GC version, it was the music i was most excited to hear ingame, probably one of the main reasons i got the game... Long story short, NOTHING could've prepared me for the chills i got when i heard that guitar.
I love the Intro Story/TTYD Leitmotif. This song is the best song in the game and I was looking forward to hearing it in game for the first time. Guess what it brought me to tears,because the remix is f... beautiful and the finale is that much more epic in the remake.
I feel like this could've been a really awesome remix if they just put down the damn guitar. Everything else, from the trumphant orchestrated part to the voices fit the song like a glove. I just don't get what they were going for with the metal.
This version starts off a little too strong IMO; just goes from 0 to 100 a bit too fast. Other than that, though, I love it. The remake definitely leans toward a more "metal"(?) sound à la TOK with a lot of its music, and I get why that wouldn't be for everyone, but I'm a big fan. Plus I like how this track still has some of that march-ish feel from the original in parts EDIT: Oh, also, the new title is pretty weak. I mean, I don't think there was any _official_ title until now, but the title I've seen it given on the internet before, "We're Counting on You, Mario!", feels much more reflective of the overall energy here. Not that the song's title is the most important thing, but y'know, could be better.
I actually really like this arrangement, but considering the lengths the remade OST goes to add more consistent leitmotifs it feels like a bit of a missed opportunity that they didn't add the "Peace Returns" leitmotif anywhere here.
i think the guitars are really out of place minus like some of the later parts but I dig the choir so much shit actually gave me chills during this bit

Hm...Yeah I'm very glad the OG soundtrack is included. This is a shame, I liked most of the new songs so far, and this was my favorite song from the original game, but I can't lie I really dislike this version. Oh well. Edit: It's grown on me a bit. I still prefer the original, but It's grown on me.
Thr original was better. Honestly, I haven't started the game yet, but once I do, you BETTER believe I'm leaving the Nostalgic Tunes badge on for the ENTIRE game (as soon as I can get it. The badge, that is.)
This was my favorite song from the original game, but this version...yeah, no, I hate it. The obnoxious electric guitars just completely butcher the tone and feel of the original. The beautiful, mystical atmosphere that made this song so great feels completely stripped away. Also, definitely prefer the OG's soft synths at 0:41 instead of the hollow choir we get here. A lot of disappointing songs in the new soundtrack, but this one definitely takes the cake :(

When I heard this version for the first time, all I could hear was metal because I was so used to the original, calmer version of this. I was really mad about this. Never played the original. Looked it up, and this version is absolutely awful. Something that Paper Mario 64 did really well, was the fact that you felt a special type of magic whenever something star-related was happening. This song in the original TTYD comes closer to that feeling than whatever this is. Edit: In retrospect, I'm being kind of a hater. I mean no disrespect to the composers (original is still better, though).

really surprised to see how much people really dislike this song and a lot of the other remade songs in general. personally, i really love all the remade music and this song especially takes very heavy inspiration from origami kings style of music, but i do get why some would prefer the less in-your-face inspirational sorta vibe the original goes for, while this is more dramatic and exciting with the guitars and drums
Absolutely agree. Some songs maybe go a little to bold or over the top,but overall this is a majestic new take on the TTYD music and I prefer it over the original ost.

Ever since then, until the remake, I hadn’t had the energy to get to that point in the game again.

Man this was my favourite theme from TTYD,so naturally when I heard this awesome remix in the remake I shed a lot of tears.
For a moment at rhe start, I was worried this theme would just rely on guitars to be "epic," but the overall instrument choice came together perfectly

I cant help but wonder if the people hating on this even bothered to listen to the whole thing through. There isn't just metal guitar riffs but also new vocal pieces along with some more orchestral bits. I think the new additions really help elevate the feeling of all your friends rallying to your aid.

Just beat the remake yesterday. Now i truly understand why this game is so loved. There was so much care and thought put into it. Granted, my favorite Paper Mario game is still probably Origami King due to not having to overly grind, BUT! I can gladly say this remake is probably my second favorite Paper Mario game. I ESPECIALLY love how it took the sound design from Origami King and applied it to the TTYD soundtrack.

This was the theme i was waiting for and i really like how it sounds, i do feel they could've used something other than the heavy guitars to be honest. Either way still sounds great.

If I thought the original has an effect of giving me chills, boy oh boy, did the remix somehow effected me with even more chills. I absolutely love the guitar that's added in this remix. It feels so more impact as an epic finale compared to the original. But, the thing that really made me get lots of chills was Peach's echoey voice when she offers her last remaining power to Mario and his friends to defeat the Shadow Queen. Since Nintendo added sound clips for the characters in this remake, this moment was something I wasn't expecting. Like goddamn, this remix feels magical! (Now I gotta get this game!)

Granted, i'll be honest they kind of missed with this one. Guitar wasn't the right instrument for this. But most of them are good or better so it doesn't matter.

I haven't even played, nor heard tok soundtrack before and I still heavilly dislike THIS track specifically and have my own problems with most of remake ost that makes so 99% is at best comparable to the original (besides Xnaut Fortress and MAYBE Lord Crump's boss themes, but I still prefer how hard the original goes in intensity)
@@senorlock5128 guitar is always a great choice for a final boss sequence. one of the greatest RPG OSTs of all time, Bravely Default, utilizes a lot of the same instruments the TTYD remake did in their final battle songs.

You'd think the metal feel wouldn't fit but holy crud did this feel empowering. Not too out of place either since the shadow queen themes also go hard as heck

A lot of the remixes just don’t do it for me, but this is one of the few that met my expectations. Not only did they stay true to the feeling of the original, they made it hit even HARDER. It might not be quite as tear-jerking, but it does make you feel even more pumped to slay the demon, and how can that possibly be seen as a bad thing?!
Absolutely love this them. Though, everyone who doesnt seems to be talking about the guitar. Personally, i think some of the frantic drums are just a bit too loud. But thats legit the only nitpick
the remix is cool but the title fans gave ('were counting on you, mario!') was far more badass
everytime this songs motif appeared in some other track, i noticed it, knowing it would play during the climax. i have gotten to this point on the GC version, it was the music i was most excited to hear ingame, probably one of the main reasons i got the game...
Long story short, NOTHING could've prepared me for the chills i got when i heard that guitar.
I love the Intro Story/TTYD Leitmotif. This song is the best song in the game and I was looking forward to hearing it in game for the first time. Guess what it brought me to tears,because the remix is f... beautiful and the finale is that much more epic in the remake.

I feel like this could've been a really awesome remix if they just put down the damn guitar. Everything else, from the trumphant orchestrated part to the voices fit the song like a glove. I just don't get what they were going for with the metal.
This version starts off a little too strong IMO; just goes from 0 to 100 a bit too fast. Other than that, though, I love it. The remake definitely leans toward a more "metal"(?) sound à la TOK with a lot of its music, and I get why that wouldn't be for everyone, but I'm a big fan. Plus I like how this track still has some of that march-ish feel from the original in parts
EDIT: Oh, also, the new title is pretty weak. I mean, I don't think there was any _official_ title until now, but the title I've seen it given on the internet before, "We're Counting on You, Mario!", feels much more reflective of the overall energy here. Not that the song's title is the most important thing, but y'know, could be better.
I actually really like this arrangement, but considering the lengths the remade OST goes to add more consistent leitmotifs it feels like a bit of a missed opportunity that they didn't add the "Peace Returns" leitmotif anywhere here.

This was my favorite song from the original game, but this version...yeah, no, I hate it. The obnoxious electric guitars just completely butcher the tone and feel of the original. The beautiful, mystical atmosphere that made this song so great feels completely stripped away. Also, definitely prefer the OG's soft synths at 0:41 instead of the hollow choir we get here.
A lot of disappointing songs in the new soundtrack, but this one definitely takes the cake :(

When I heard this version for the first time, all I could hear was metal because I was so used to the original, calmer version of this. I was really mad about this. But meanwhile I can hear that the melody is still there. I wonder how it will be for people who don't know the original version of this.
Never played the original. Looked it up, and this version is absolutely awful.
Something that Paper Mario 64 did really well, was the fact that you felt a special type of magic whenever something star-related was happening. This song in the original TTYD comes closer to that feeling than whatever this is.
Edit: In retrospect, I'm being kind of a hater. I mean no disrespect to the composers (original is still better, though).
