Trumpeter SBD Dauntless 1:32. Build of a great kit.
Переглядів 37 тис.3 роки тому
An excellent -yet not the easiest- kit is my first contact with Trumpeter... I was impressed. I found this kit as a leftover in a modeling shop, apparently left for quite some time, deducing from the discoloration of the box due to prolonged sun exposure, which in turn made for a better price. It's one of the longest builds (for an airplane), which took me three and a half months from unboxing ...
Airfix Ju87 Stuka R2/B2 1:48 Full build

A well detailed kit, for which I opted to display with the engine fully displayed. In case you missed it, there's a questionnaire at @28:13 The build is entirely OOB. Feel free to leave a comment. It's been some time since my last vid, but I encountered some slight health problems (not COVID) which held me slightly back. Thank you for watching, I hope you like it.

A quick and dirty little build between builds.. more like a project while the paint and the glue of other builds dry, yet a funny nice little airplane. Nothing about fitting issues with canopy and front section of fuselage?
I've built this kit before and still have 2 others of same company, only still in cellophane unopened. I do this for a few reasons. German aircraft are my favorites to build in 1/32 scale. They are by far, the hardest and most challenging to build because of being extremely detailed, meaning more parts . I'm not at all going to say what companies make the best kits ,we all have our favorites , brands.,not just one or more. If your going to be addicted to something ,I hope it's fine scale modeling. Vman.
Great show and great effect! You've encouraged me to buy the set and try my hand at this classic set from the early 1970s. Cheers!
Wrong Green , never use Humbrol no 30
Perfect work 🔥🔥🔥
Great job; fantastic... beautiful airplane. Thank you so much for taking all the effort and time showing us the whole process. This is really appreciated.
👍👍
My Grandfather who was from Tipperary Ireland and was in the British homeguard in London during WW2. He actually worked on the production for the Wellington bomber in Weybridge Surrey

How does it compare with the Revell Monogram kits?

Very nice build! What brand is the brush you are using for the cockpit detail painting? It has a great point. Did you have trouble with some of the decals or was that deliberate weathering? So many people seem to be having problems with them.
That's a good job on that simple model. Lots of work done especially with all the coats of paint. I take it the first bare metal is an undercoat. I was wandering the dark sea Blue was not dark enough and the underside is supposed to be white not light blue. However it's a nice finish. I have two of those to build I think I'll just build as they are. If I worry too much about details I'll make my self sicker than I am. Watch out for the colours if you build another. Sea Blue, intermediate blue and white underside.👍🇭🇲🦘✌️
I've bought this kit five times over. I ruined one as it was damaged over the years, second ive built the full Aircraft minus the landing gear. I tried to remake the cockpit even though at first glance it looks great but its a mess and very cramped quarters. I tried but failed still unfinished. Ive started on another but i think I'll just build it as it is straight from the box. I have tried to customise but im not a professional modeller. Its a nice kit and there is a cockpit Eduard set for this but nothing for the empty wheel wells. Unfortunately. But overall very nice. Ive yet to see the build.🇭🇲✌️
David R Lentz, Columbus, Ohio, USA (Wednesday, 28 August, 2024) This kit looks quite intriguing. From what I hear, see, and read, Trumpeter kits, for all their considerable resources and determined efforts, can be uneven in their quality of manufacture, accuracy of design, etc. Their end results range from quite good to mistake-ridden, or rather mediocre of details-neither old Matchbox or Frog, nor new Tamiya or MiniArt. (By the way, if you as yet have had no acquaintance with MiniArt’s capability, go have a good, long, close look at their new kit of Republic’s late-war P-47D Thunderbolt “Teardrop Canopy” USAAF Fighter, in 1:48th-scale.) Still, I remain optimistic for the Chinese company. Have you seen (online, in person, etc.) the Merit International (now I ♥ Kits) 1:18th-scale conventional assembly kit-yes; given these oversized plastic, pre-assembled, pre-painted, terribly expensive replicas I over the past decade or so have seen here and there, that more than surprised me, too!-of the Douglas SBD-3 Dauntless USN Carrier-Based Dive Bomber (dated in the spring of 1942)? I watched someone building one in a video on his UA-cam channel, AlexModeling (Monday, 2 July, 2018). I would like your assessment of it, please. Next, would you know if any kit makers offer a standard injection-mold polystyrene kit (CAD/CAM-based 3D printing, cast resin, photo-etched nickel-silver augmentation, too) of a wartime operational version (circa spring, 1942) of this aircraft in 1:24th-scale? In addition to the above three, I include in this ambitious multi-kit project 4) Academy’s (once Accurate Miniatures) 1:48th-scale Dauntless models. 3) Two of Airfix’s 1:72nd-scale kits of the nimble attacker. 4) Two of Brengun’s 1:144th-scale SBD-5 replicas (which may require backdating to an earlier variant); Yao’s Studio also makes 1:144th-scale kits of the doughty dive-bomber. 5) Three or four of Trumpeter’s 1:200nd-scale Dauntless miniatures (the manufacturer produces sets of these for their three Yorktown-class USN Aircraft Carrier kits). My plan is to build them all airborne, their propellers spinning, all positioned in a rakish angle portraying a steep dive, their red dive brakes deployed, their bomb yokes dropped down, set in a forced-perspective ærial diorama (FoPÆD) of a fateful south Pacific encounter as the warbirds queue high above a large, highly-detailed miniature of the Imperial Japanese aircraft carrier Akagi on the last day, at the last hour, it had steamed on its own power . . . .
I would recommend itarlie has airfix part's don't fit right and a waste of money and time
❤
I'm a precision toolmaker who CNC machines tooling for plastic ejection moulds. I just finished one for a set of internal components for an audio manufacturer. The tooling cost £22,000. So don't expect Tamiya-level quality from a tiny manufacturer. Just be grateful that someone, somewhere took the time, trouble and investment to give you a Ta154.
Up till now I have been put off buying Revell 1/32 kits because of a lack of space and negative reviews I have read and listened to by self appointed “Spitfire Experts “ who seem to have a grudge against Revell. Thank you for a really enjoyable video showing how good this kit is.
Great Job! I was curious as to where you acquired the model tape dispenser/ holder? I've been looking for something like this for some time and had no luck. Any advice us appreciated. Keep up the great work.
Thank you for watching. The dispenser was bought from one of the countless stores in the aliexpress platform a few years ago.
Did you attach the propeller with glue? The instructions say it should snap but it didn't
Great Job!👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻
Thanks! 👍
DUH!!!!
Using a strong UV light without safety goggles and without covering your exposed skin?
Nothing less than incredible!
Hat's off
Very nice build 👍
Love your work, even what you say are some of your worst results look better than most of my best ones.😊❤
My dad was a navigator over Italy so I had to have this model. I have had the kit for years. Watching your video helps to take the fear out of such a complicated build for a beginner. Dads plane had no guns of bombs since they flew night time reconnaissance. Finally shot down the night before the war ended and landed in a vineyard with no injuries but Dad and the pilot, Dale Keller were captured and thought they were going to be tortured but again the war ended and they were spared.
I'm just about to start this one, (well tomorrow really. Your video has given me the urge to do this) I'll be the one trying to copy your ideas/build 👍thanks for sharing.
Awesome build video. So many tips for me. I don't know if the colours on the video are true but the green camouflage seems a bit bright and gawdy. Otherwise fine.
Is this representing a Canadian squadron? Nicely done!
Que belleza! Un trabajo de primerísima calidad, me fascinó su técnica de pintura. El video bien editado. Muchas gracias
Nice build! I am planning to buy a Stuka kit but which brand should I take ? The Airfix 1:48 or the Italery ? Thank you.
I've built both, both were very good... You can't go wrong with either choice.. The italeri decals may give you a more hard time if you go for the fuselage-length snake decal..
Well done!🙂
Awesome, worthy the remembrance of John James Powers, Dusty Kleiss, Dick Best and many others.
Absolutely! The Battle of Midway, 4-7 June, 1942.
Exceptional job with the tones and weathering!!
Beautiful
why didn't you apply clear coat to the decals?
Very nice model but would of liked to see flap mech
Lovely build! What's the sticky pencil thing you use to pick up/place tiny parts?
AN AMAZING KIT! HOWEVER THEY COULD HAVE HAD A REMOVABLE COWL PANELS TO DISPLAY THE POWERPLANT AND SLIDING CANOPYS.
Is this any different to the normal Lancaster kit apart from the colour schemes?
