I actually liked (not loved) the movie. But after seeing how passionate you are about the book, I'll definitely check it out. I would be REALLY curious to know how you feel about Dune the book vs the two movies. Now that's a comparison I have strong opinions on 🙂

yes! i totally understand the love for watching the movie before reading the books! I always hear disappointment from those who read before watching since movie adaptations usually miss/change plot points for the sake of the movie. But I love visualizing the characters, the settings, and movies help give that blueprint. After watching a movie adaptation, reading the book gives me more insight into the story and characters, rather than losing, I gain more enjoyment and content!!

No Country for Old Men by Cormack McCarthy has an great movie adaptation...not sure the book is your cup of tea, but both are definitely worth a look.

I hated the Ella Enchanted movie but adored the book.

If he was just making one film, he should have cut ghost bird completely out and focused on Gloria & Saul. With the psychologist leading the expedition. Could have included the bar scene and those scenes with them talking on the rocks were the best the trilogy had to offer. That's how I would have done it at least.

When I watched interviews with the director who I do like from ex Machina and civil war. It sounded like he just picked and choose what he wanted to add and barley cared what fans of the book wanted

I vividly remember watching Annihilation and I kept being poked in the ribs with how on the nose the movie was. Then, in the nighttime scene in the guard house two characters are having a yap and they just say the theme of the movie out loud and I just detached. The movie makers didn't trust the audience to be intelligent for a second x)
