Musafir means 'traveler' in Urdu, Arabic and Persian. To me it's more than a word.
It's deciding to trade my California suburban life for a nomadic one.
It's choosing to be content with less.
It's allowing myself to slow down.
It's pushing myself beyond my comfort zone.
It's being present for the moments, big and small, that make up life.
It's strangers showing me that the world is full of good, kind and loving humans.
I've been traveling the world full time with my husband and kids for almost two years, and I'd love to share my experience with you.
Join me on my journey to live intentionally, explore new cultures and find new meanings for home, all over the world.

Indian street food in California! | Back in the Bay
Переглядів 4902 місяці тому
After a year abroad, I’m back in California! In this video I’m checking out a new-ish food truck bazaar in my hometown of Fremont: Chandni Chowk. I’d heard great things about the street food here, so I had to check it out. However, my taste buds have definitely been spoiled by all the REALLY good food in Karachi, so watch the full video to see how California’s Indian-Pakistani food scene compar...
Mohammed Hijab is WRONG about Pakistan
Переглядів 2,5 тис.2 місяці тому
A few months ago, Mohammed Hijab came to Pakistan, and he suggested all western Muslims looking to make hijrah should consider Pakistan, specifically Islamabad. As someone who has been traveling for 2 years full time, and having experienced Pakistan for myself for 4 months, I seriously disagree with him. Watch the video to find out why, and I’ll share an alternative option within Pakistan, if (...
You should know this before coming to Karachi | Life in Pakistan

Today, I’m diving deep into my unfiltered thoughts on living in Karachi, a city that I describe as that one fun, unpredictable, very broke hot-mess friend you had in college. After spending a few months here, I have a lot to share about this vibrant metropolis that’s both thrilling and challenging. Even though Karachi was once the government’s capital, Karachi has become the crime capital of Pa...

That's how we found ourselves not only visiting Karachi, but also loving it so much that we decided to make it a temporary home-base for a year! We still plan to continue traveling, but wanted to be near family, the ocean and the INCREDIBLE good food here in Karachi. Here's a quick little life update, and also Ei...
Why I left America & Cost of Living for full-time travel

About 2 years ago, my husband and I got a refund on the “American Dream,” packed our lives into 3.5 suitcases and started traveling the world full time with our kids. So many of you have asked and wondered why we would give up a life in the US, so today I’m answering those questions and sharing with you how much on average we spend on full-time travel. Let me know down below if you’re also cons...
Lahore is MORE than Heeramandi | Explore old Lahore
Переглядів 4366 місяців тому
Two days in Lahore was barely long enough, but here is my recap of my trip to this most enchanting historical city in the Punjab region of Pakistan. While there are SO many modern amenities, restaurants and things to do and see around the city, my old soul was instantly drawn to the ancient walled city of Androon Lahore. We packed in quite a lot in just two days, considering we had little ones ...
We DON'T talk about Heeramandi
Переглядів 2,6 тис.7 місяців тому
Tawaif fashion is trending on social media, everyone is obsessed with the (kind of mediocre) tv show, but STILL, desi/South Asians hesitate to mention Heeramandi and tawaif culture in polite company. Netflix’s new series on Heeramandi is Bollywood’s latest romanticization of the tawaif culture of Hindustan, a remnant of the culture of the royal Mughal court. Growing up Indian-Pakistani, I’ve se...

It’s hard to believe I’ve already been in Islamabad for a month! This capital city has been my first foray into Pakistan, and I still have mixed feelings. I don’t love it, I also don’t hate, but I can say for sure it’s a friendly, safe and hospitable place where you won’t run into issues like water/electricity outages. You will, however, run into monkeys at some point if you enjoy being outdoor...
Buddhist Roots in India & Pakistan | Exploring the remains of an ancient city

A short 40 minute drive outside of Pakistan’s newest city, Islamabad, lies one of it’s oldest cities: Taxila. This ancient city has a storied past as a site of Buddhist learning and might be one of the oldest centers of learning in the world. It was visited by great conquerors and kings, and was eventually desecrated by a conquering army. Still, the remains of this ancient place provide clues t...
The day that changed my mind about Pakistan's capital city
Переглядів 1,1 тис.7 місяців тому
Pakistan's capital is considered the "2nd most beautiful" capital city in the world, but does Islamabad deserve this title? I spent a day out with the family in Islamabad, going to a (very) little zoo and visiting the Pakistan monument. Of course, it's not a day out unless we stop for dinner too. This is truly the day that changed my mind about Islamabad. The more time I spend here, the more I ...

As Salam alaykum can you find a job after in Malaysia or do you need to find a job before you get the visa ?
We moved from America we currently live in Malaysia but Indonesia is like our third home we always love to escape to Jakarta then Singapore I love Indonesia 🇮🇩🥰
Love Malaysia, lived there 3 years but sadly its not pet friendly, want to move with my Family and pets but keep running into issue, no hotels allow pets, condos wont and if they do only specific breads and small. You only have the option to live in Desa Park area mostly run down buildings or very expensive landed villas.
Thank you and well done! Excellent content, and absolutely brilliant delivery. A pleasure to watch and listen.
You say that people don't stare but you're in Fremont where there is a high density of ethnic Indian/Pakistani so it could have been the area, right? Like, if you go to Oakland and sit on a park bench, or Walnut Creek and do the same thing, I think you might get the same stares that you are referring to experiencing in other countries of feeling like a zoo animal not too far away from home... Also Pakistan and India are disasters AHA! (Sorry but it's true) and not fair to compare with the rest of the world. Did you get stared at a lot in Malaysia or Indonesia? If not, then it's not fair to say you missed experiencing peace in California. Moving to Asia is exactly what I hoped to get away from what you are saying you missed in California! Haha!
How funny, I just came here after watching your 'leaving the American dream' video haha. I think being able to afford coming back to the bay is nice. At the end of the day, the bay area is tough to outclass as a place to raise kids versus bouncing around countries with no sense of home. It does grow weary especially without a clear pathway to settling with visas. But still you don't learn until you try and you're wiser for it.
I haven't visited Indonesia yet, but it's good to know that these programs exist. I'm heading to Sarawak in a few months to see what life is like over there for the SMM2H program and see if I can get a health exception for being under 50. I'm living in Thailand now on the DTV and compared with Malaysia, you kind of feel the lack of English and ability to connect with locals moreso than in KL where English is pretty widely spoken. I wonder if that's the same in Indonesia too, where if you spend an extended period of time there, it starts to feel a little isolating when nobody speaks the language well besides other foreigners.
Asalaam alaikum Saira.. love your videos...i am also a hijabi niqaabi British born Saira. Young lady I don't think you have experienced as I have stink of Parisian drain's through the raised manhole lids and dead rats on their footpaths or mice , rats cockroaches and other nature's beauties can be found in many homes anywhere in Western towns and cities . In Pakistan where government gives handouts only to very rich and powerful but gives nothing to poor begging is a way of life of many but same can be said about Western countries despite state's social security system to alleviate poverty virtually in all major Western democracies aggressive begging is a way of life of many people . Young lady should I mention mugging , pick pocketing and crimes in general including racial insults hurled by so called civilsed Westerners at people like you and me as a routine . I hope you haven't experienced all the above in your perfect utopia but my 45 or so years living in UK and visiting many European countries some multiple times I think every country has its good and bad points only problem is shortcomings of countries like Pakistan get magnified having said that lack of resources shouldn't be an excuse of inaction . Just like you I am not a fan of lizards crwaling on the walls particularly in toilets in Egypt even on my bed , any one who invents a lizard repellent I will be his first customer 😂 .
The fact that you roamed around yhe whole hijabi mall to find the one thing you were looking for, you've earned my respect 😍 finally someone i csn relate to! Subscribed
Asalaam Alaikum sister. The best part of Putrajaya pink masjid for me is the beautiful breeze that comes over the River, and flows into the women’s side of the masjid… a wonderful fresh breeze flowing over you and renewing you while you pray Salah. Reminded me of when Allah says in the Qur’an 7:57 “Allah it is Who sends the winds as a glad tiding of Allah’s coming grace” So peaceful & soothing, Alhamdulillah
You think those little luxuries you mention are specific to California ? Well then you really haven't traveled. usa seems third world in comparison to Europe.
Hi, its interesting that you now feel like you dislike pakistan and dont feel home there, whereas in islamabad you said you felt 'at home' there. Culturally perhaps? Or was it due to family connections, or that pakistan initially surprised you as it wasn't what you expected. Ive wondered the same, i would love to live there but often think the restricted access and independence for women is an issue, and also the security/feeling watched like an outsider would make me feel unsafe. Have you ever felt unsafe, or worried about being harrassed/scammed/robbed/kidnapped in Pakistan?
It's true, my perception of Pakistan has changed a lot since I first came. Our first month or so were nice as we traveled through the major cities, and got to see and experience new things. But the more time I spend in Pakistan, the less I like it. It's a very different life to adjust to compared with more developed countries. And yeah, some might say "but you get a maid and chauffeured car, etc" but that doesn't make up for losing the ability to safely go out and about. To answer your question, yes I have absolutely felt unsafe almost every time I step outside in Karachi. With the exception of going to Dolmen mall, which is high security, you have to be so careful and constantly vigilant wherever you go. People in my family have gotten robber multiple times, it's just not a place I want to raise my kids.
@sairathemusafir thank you for replying, i totally understand where youre coming from. Id have to say a lot of things are changing though. Karachi is a double edged sword, bit like new york, what makes it amazing and thriving and lively us also what makes it unsafe and unstable sometimes. Tbh i love rhe village life in pak, the connection to nature and the smaller communities. Much safer , respectful etc but possibly a little too sedate and isolating for westerners like us. If youre able to, would highly recommend going up north pakistan to see the vast difference in culture and respect and independence for women. Plus the stunning scenery
Farmers Market has started in Islamabad, maybe in Karachi in the Future perhaps.
They do have one occasionally at Emaar in Karachi! And there’s also one in DHA at The Haque Academy. Wonderful community initiatives 😊
you came in a @jokeistan video 2019 rewind
I appreciate the information but I think you are possibly leaving out a few details, such as, the mandated 40,000 ringgit agent fee and the need to acquire property, in the case of the silver category, at least of value 600,00 ringgits. Granted the removal of the monthly income is a good thing, but the compulsory agent and property purchase still limit the program’s viability.
Thanks for pointing that out! I made this video back in January of this year, so I think it's time I posted a revision, with the updated rules/regulations on the MM2H. Thank you for watching!
5:37😂😂😂😂😂😂
Overseas Pakistanis do feel like animals in a zoo LOL!
@@sairathemusafir whole country has been turned into a zoo......
Ma Sha Allah
Thank you for watching!
Why should we watch this video ,seeing your face,is Pakistan on your face, where are foods ?.100% idiotic video. You should know you are a low class street cloth.
I think best country . Ups downs . Glad ur gone
He is talking about Islamabad as a place to live for expats and non tax residents. Yes it does not have the public transport or many amenities but it is still a great place to live for anybody who has a stead and secure stream of income elsewhere in west. For example, a customer of our company who was born and raised in London and has 2 daughters of age 10 and 12 , packed up and moved to Islamabad 4 years ago and has not been back to the best of my knowledge. Expats live in sticks of Spain, Turkey and even Russia or not so developed areas of eastern Europe. When you start comparing the amenities , infrastructure and finer details, nobody should be living in eastern Europe of Balkan countries and yet the trend is visible. So I will dare say that the comparison you are making is very basic and very surface. VIBE FOR DAYS is not and should not be a criteria. Not everybody is looking for an urban jungle and a place of rat race with a lot happening. So i'll say Hijab is right and you are not.
Woohooo... Welcome back 😊
Thank you!! 😁
So what do u want night clubs better then your western countries I have moved from UK and loving it here in Pakistan alhamdulillah
I agree that Karachi is a confusing city. It has a lot of amenities if you have money. If you can adore to live in emmar towers or bharia town you will have a filtered Karachi experience and will frankly love it. Similar to speaking to two people from LA. One lives in skid row, the other in Beverly Hills. Depending on who you talk too, you’ll get there experiential opinion.
Nice sharing. Thanks. 3 questions re soon ho e visa : 1. Does this visa pave path for permanent residence or does one has to move out after 5 or 10 years? 2. Can we deposit the amount in USD and take it back in USD or does it need to be converted to IDR? 3. Can we really buy property on our name or will it be lease?. Thanks
Aapne apni eyebrows nuchwaa li? Do you know what Allah has said in Quran about females who pluck their eyebrows? You will burn in hell for an eternity...and then some. 😂😂😂
Quite excellent the way you have describe your experiences in months that you have been here or still ongoing......selective & wisely worded but those who lived here get the drift, there's more unspoken that can't be mention or said. Despite all that, there's those advantages when & if you can afford to navigate living a lifestyle as you please. A lot of people who has financial strait issues won't be able to tolerate that unless no option 😅. I enjoyed watching your clip & hope to see more. Being frank & mildly polite blunt in stating your experience here is quite amusing as I'm sure there's more, except we need to abide with courtesy in stepping on others shoes. 🥰💞👍
I dont know how Islamabad is boring. Trust level here is much higher then any other city. That alone makes it attractive for living.
Sister Karachi is the biggest city of Pakistan 🇵🇰 and Karachi the only city who generate lot of tax and it’s our business hub because sea port is in Karachi but you have problem because you came from the city of USA 🇺🇸 where everything developed and well maintained Unfortunately Karachi hold by Sindh government and they just looted the revenue of Karachi never put one percent of that revenue in Karachi that’s why Karachi heights facing many problems here like road bridges electricity issue and security issue but thanks Allah now our new generation doing well they are educated and know well about the entire world by using internet social media awareness opened their eyes 🙏 I think in future Karachi will be the best city of Pakistan and their credit goes to our educated Karachi heights ❤
I moved to US 20 years ago from Lahore. I usually visit Lahore and Islamabad at least once a year. I have spent 10 years in north east ( NYC), 6 years in Midwest in 6000 sq feet house and a lavish house in west coast at the movement so I can see the difference , between different cities and neighborhoods. First of all you should never ever compare any developing nation with a developed nation. Almost every single point she is trying to make is just B.S. She has probably not visited different countries and their big capital cities. Islamabad is 100 times better than any Asian or African capital and even from many European cities ( ever far better than Paris which is really garbage place- hated my 1 week trip over there). Some neighborhoods of DC/Virginia ( just few blocks from white -house are really filthy and crime hub). Perhaps, I would only agree with her one point which is an issue of "beggars' on street which is very annoying sometimes and common in Pakistan, all due to rampant poverty. Smelling of gaanda nala was because you choose to stay at some stinky and shity place? they are not rich nation to cover any sewage place. There is really no smog or pollution in Islamabad.
I agree. Islamabad is boring.
Sister used Hijab's name just to say something pointless honestly I believe, he was an honourable guest and he appreciated something he liked and also your thumbnail say's (Hijab is wrong about Pakistan) but he is clearly talking about just Islamabad.
No place in Pakistan is worth living. People should be realistic.
Islamabad is beautiful. You don't have to be jealous. But it can't be compared with Dubai or Kuwait, Yeah right.
Delete this video before people start hating on ur and ur other videos
why would they hate on her? She is under my protection which means she's under God's protection!
Unless the corrupt govt and military is removed no one should consider moving to Pakistan.
i was born and raised in Doha, Qatar and moved back to Pakistan at the age of 22 and now im 26, let me tell you Pakistan has way more to offer compared to the gulf. (i cant compare it to the west since ive never been there) i don't know your personal life, experience or your background but im guessing that has alot to do with your opinion about ISB. maybe don't make such sweeping statements with such confidence as they make you less credible. having experienced both, my life in Qatar was what would most call perfect, it was luxurious, there were no apparent problem, every small thing was taken care of by the company my dad worked for, and when i say everything i mean everything, but i realized it was a bubble and it made me and my siblings weak and over sheltered, then when i moved to pak and started my own business i was exposed to so much here, there is so much diversity in pakistan and so many things you need to take care of, i felt alive. Pakistan helped me see the real face of life and im much happier living in pak and i have realized there is so much opportunity in Pakistan and you can do so much here if you stop making excuses and just work hard. there are so many nuances which i cant go into here but TLDR Pakistan was a better experience compared to gulf (for me....)
do you think sister is pretty? do you wish you had done nikaah with her? what do you think of Qandeel Baloch getting unalived by her brother?
i thought she had some views and ideas that differed from Muhammad Hijab but what i got was an opinion on Islamabad like really comparing any other city to islamabad
just made this video to talk smack about Pakistan
LMAO Karachi 😅😅😅😅😅.
Just chasing clout 😭😅
Seriously Detroit and Beverly hills? Sister I couldn't see this anymore because most respectfully you're out of your mind. Islamabad has its issues but is has tons of pluses too. It's a perfectly decent city of you can afford. One of our top bosses based in Virginia seriously considered moving here a few years back. I'm just shocked knowing Detroit has been trashed over the decades. And that's only comparison you could find. Very terrible way to think.
Hijab was right actually ... Islamabad is a very safe and beautiful city. I have been living here for the last 6 years. Karachi is not livible city TBH. If you love peace, beauty, modernism. Then welcome to Islamabad.
Muhammad Hijab knows nothing , neither about religion nor about cities
Well your American lol
So basically you just wrote Mohd. Hijab's name and then end up dissing Islamabad. Everyone has their own views, for people who love greenery, they always vouch for Islamabad and for the ones who like historical places/food etc. usually vouch for Lahore. Every city has its own qualities.
that was one big steaming pile of horse sit. I can not believe a person can have so much confidence that to record and post online with zero logic and sense.
hey man just saying emaar residencies is great and all but you have to be really dam rich to live the lifestyle there if yk what i mean
Wild that people can make recommendations like this. Hijab was referring to those performing Hijra - Islamabad is categorically the best option in Pakistan unless you have family ties to the other cities, but even then it’s debatable whether those other cities would be more suitable. And for south Asians the language and cultural alignment trumps Dubai. Love that the nature of Islamabad is completely written off because, and I’m assuming here, you can’t take get the quality of Insta pics for social media clout. 400kms to Lahore from Islamabad too, not difficult. Plus if you want history, Rawalpindi is on Islamabad’s doorstep.
Islamabad and karchi are like comparing dubai and larkakana. You just made the vedio to diss islambad.
