I remember a story about a guy getting bullied by a neighbour much the same as you. The bullied neighbour mentioned what was going on and a mutual friend pointed him in the direction of the roughest bar in town to find the roughest bunch he was asked to find. Bullying neighbour had a visit and soon after had a wired jaw and was fed through a straw for two months. Lesson: you never know who knows who so don't poke the cage.

I understand what you are going through, example you put something on your front lawn that moves counterclockwise and now they're having a hissy fit.
