    Another great video, mate. I am really enjoying your wandering around these places. You give enough interesting information to make me go off do some of my own research about the places you've visited. I had never heard of this place. I grew up 'down south' and your part of the UK is probably the area I know least about so these are good. Keep up the great production values and stay curious.

    nice video, it a shame they pulled down whole communities only to leave the land empty. when i walk round Trafford general hospital, it hits me my grandad was born there over 123 years ago. I remember Eddie the eagle being on tv using the ski village in 90s

    I imagine someone has already told you this, but the old doorway bricked up near the beginning of the building was a foot access to Neepsend locomotive shed. I have seen an icon on old maps where that small bricked up arch is - it's three lines coming together as an arrow - but I don't know what that icon means.

    • @blueskyes071
      @blueskyes071 13 днів тому

      I feel like I need to clarify that; Neepsend yard was parallel to Wallace Road, whilst Neepsend locomotive shed had its rear wall against Douglas Road and locomotives entered/exited at the Rutland Road end.

    I loved the look of the cobbled streets of the UK. Now our roads are awful, heavy traffic is the major cause. Everywhere you look there are potholes, lumps and bumps, when they tarmac the roads they never do it right, it's rushed and shabbily done. Bring back the cobbles!!

  • @AngelasNoFrillsASMR

    If only we could go back in time permanently. Yeh wouldn't have been Internet and things we have of today in 2024, but kids weren't cheeky brats on street corners, no graffiti, could leave your doors open, safe to walk out without fear of being stabbed or mugged, people were friendly. Absolutely dislike change.

    Wow thank you what a great vidio many many fond memories of watching my team play at the rec as we called it … the recreation ground , on saltergate … loved the photo you took when you snook into the wonderful old stadium go walking around there often reminicing iam 67 now but I fist stood on the kop on the opening day of the 69/70 as a wide eyed 13 year old taking it all in on that baking hot August day … the old 3rd division chesterfield 2-3 Aston Villa …. What a game villa supporters took over the kop end that day and there’s me stood there with my 6ft blue an white scarf on surrounded by thousands of claret n blue clad villa skinheads but they had a laugh with me it always sticks with me a villa fan said to me this ground is like a postage stamp compared to villa park 😂 guess he was right 😂 … had some wonderful times at the old ground … RIP saltergate … cheers mate great vidio 👍

    When I was about 20 years old, so1974, I worked for a steeplejack company in Sheffield . They had their depot on a street at the top of West Street, Company was W.E. Harrison. We did some work at Brookhouse Colliery on the site of the coking plant, which was a large open structure with several floors. We did all the painting of the structure. I don't remember a great deal of the actual colliery but it stirred up a few memories of my time working as a contractor, industrial painting. Great video, thanks for sharing this.

Amazing how nature reclaims but sad in a way considering how much housing is needed now, and green fields are disappearing under concrete. Sheffield City Council finished off the Luftwaffe's job then with the Church. Really interesting. That low blocked up arch would suggest there is a basement maybe?
