- Episode One of Tour Obscure visits one of the most unusual churches in the entire UK! The Crooked Spire in Chesterfield.
The spire has become the default mascot of the Derbyshire town, lending it’s name to the local football team and many local businesses. The spire is not the only interesting thing about this place though. Join us inside the church to find out about a very special stained glass window, a 1,000 year old font and a mysterious whale bone that ended up in the church nearly 200 years ago and is still there to this day!

Thanks to Beats By Crane for producing the intro/outro music for our videos. An amazing up and coming producer located in Sheffield. He’s fantastic to work with and the communication he offers during the process in order to perfect what you’re wanting is second to none. If any other content creators are wanting custom music for their channel, I’d highly recommend getting in touch with him via Instagram (Beatsbycrane)

I'm sure that the lay and ordained parish helpers will know this but I don't think that I've come over all Disgusted of Tunbridge Wells
nearly as rapidly.
Wanting to know about the eroding design on the Font, I looked up
"Chesterfield Font"
The LCD status and lack of curiosity of sites and media platform owners occasionally hits like a ton of bricks.
Eight x More searches? bar pressed dozens of pages scanned and then it ended.
Chesterfield printed page font nigh on exclusively swamps the two tourist snaps & one postcard that's
_all the modern world's parish noticeboard has to shew for the ancient font of all knowledge here _
Sthg gotta get done. So there's at least a couple of paras on it
If you are indeed linked to the Church and its finely fenestrated building, could you help me to understand what you have been advised to do with searches on the Web for Chesterfield.
I got to the end of the particular search scroll dealing with the font.
Two photos and an old postcard and devoid of text.
The rest Chesterfield fomt types and styles and obviously a couple of facts about the fag brand.
Font facts por favor!
When the lead was added to the spire, the weight of it twisted the beams within the spire which in turn, caused it to twist under the sheer weight.
Not what I heard! I was told the Spire was curious to see what was happening when a virgin got married in the church so it bent over to have a look at her, when a virgin next gets married there the spire will straighten up because it's seen one before. At least thats what i was told.
Wow. Amazing Video mate. 🎉😁

Won the funniest comment of the year and it’s only July. 😂
Good first video
The Spire just sits on the tower. There are no physical connectors or pins. At least one of the beams has a crack in it wide enough that an adult can put there whole hand in up to the wrist. The crane used to lift construction materials up the tower was left in situ rather than dismantled and removed. it was removed in the 20th century and was in 2012 on show in the Chesterfield museum. It was powered by men walking round on the inside of a huge wheel rather like the wheels found in a hamster cage. reputedly it is the oldest surviving crane in the world.
Really good 👌🏻 Top man
